Central Delaware has a humid subtropical climate. Summers are hot and humid, with roughly 25 days per year reaching or surpassing 90 degrees Fahrenheit and frequent short but heavy thunderstorms. Peak demand at Killens Pond State Park and the beach-area resorts runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, when the Killens Pond Water Park operates and Jellystone's themed weekends fill quickly. Spring and fall offer the most comfortable RV weather. Spring is wetter than fall, and nor'easters remain a possibility from mid-winter through spring, with peak activity in March. Fall brings mild days, lower humidity, and Jellystone's Halloween-themed weekends into October. Winter is workable for self-contained RVs. The Killens Pond campground is open year-round with water hookups available in every season, and snowfall averages only about 13 inches annually and rarely stays long. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Delaware Beaches typically operates on a seasonal schedule from about April 1 into late October.

Each site allows up to eight people, with an extra per-person charge above four. Outside firewood is not permitted in Delaware State Park campgrounds due to invasive-insect quarantines; wood is sold at the registration booth. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Delaware Beaches offers full-hookup sites with 50 amp service, cable, water, and sewer, plus cabin and safari-tent lodging. The layout is largely flat and easy to set up. Pets are allowed at Delaware State Park campgrounds when attended, but are prohibited in most cabins except Cabins 9 and 10 at Killens Pond.
