Campgrounds and RV parks near Rodney Village, DE

Water is the main draw. Killens Pond State Park centers on a 66-acre millpond with canoe, kayak, pedal boat and rowboat rentals, plus a seasonal waterpark with slides and pools. Martinak State Park sits at the junction of the Choptank River and Watts Creek, with a boat ramp, fishing, hiking trails and a nature center. Families staying at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Delaware Beaches get on-site pools and themed weekends, plus quick access to Rehoboth, Dewey Beach and Lewes. Off-site, the Air Mobility Command Museum at Dover Air Force Base, the John Dickinson Plantation and the state fairgrounds at Harrington give kids a rainy-day option, and Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge is a strong stop for birding.

Central Delaware has a humid, four-season climate. Summers are hot and humid, with brief but heavy thunderstorms common through July and August. Winters are cold but moderated by the Delaware Bay, with snow that averages only about 13 inches a year and typically does not stay on the ground long. Spring and fall are the most comfortable stretches for camping, with milder days and lower humidity. Peak camping season runs roughly April through October at private and state parks in the region. Killens Pond State Park is open year-round, with water hookups available in every season, and the campgrounds at Cape Henlopen, Lums Pond and Trap Pond also stay open year-round, giving off-season RV renters real options. Martinak State Park operates on a shorter season that generally runs from late March through November, so trips outside that window need a Delaware base. Delaware's coast is vulnerable to tropical systems in late summer and early fall, and nor'easters are most active from mid-winter through spring with peak activity in March.

Killens Pond State Park has 59 sites with electric and water hookups, plus a 17-site walk-in tent loop and family cabins with kitchens, set in wooded loops with bathhouses open year-round for registered campers and a dump station on site. Martinak State Park offers 63 sites on two loops, with 30 carrying 30-amp electric service; sewer and water hookups at the site are not available, but potable water is located around each loop and a dump station with water fill is on the property. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Delaware Beaches is a big-rig-friendly resort with full-hookup sites plus cabin rentals. Outside firewood is not permitted in Delaware state park campgrounds due to invasive-pest quarantines, and firewood is sold on site. Pets are allowed at campsites but restricted from most cabins.
