Campgrounds and RV parks near Wyoming, DE

Killens Pond is the primary activity hub in the area. The park offers fishing and paddling on the pond, the Killens Pond Waterpark, and a nature center, plus hiking, boating, swimming, canoeing, disc golf, geocaching, and picnicking. Boating is popular on the pond, with canoe, kayak, pedal boat, and rowboat rentals available seasonally. Families staying at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Delaware Beaches typically pair on-site resort amenities with day trips to Rehoboth, Lewes, and Cape Henlopen. From Martinak State Park, visitors have access to the Choptank River and Watts Creek with boating and fishing for bass, perch, sunfish, and catfish. Dover proper adds indoor options for rainy days, including the Air Mobility Command Museum, the state capitol grounds, and Dover Motor Speedway events during race weekends.

Central Delaware has a humid climate with four distinct seasons. Dover experiences a humid subtropical climate, characterized by hot summers and cold winters with strong seasonal contrast. Rainfall is fairly wet and spread evenly throughout the year, though summer often sees heavy downpours and thunderstorms. Winters bring regular snowfall to the area. Late spring through early fall is the practical RV season for most travelers. Summer weekends and holidays are the busiest window, especially for anything within reach of the Delaware Beaches. Shoulder months, May and September through mid-October, offer cooler nights, fewer bugs, and easier reservations. Delaware is often affected by seasonally occurring severe weather including winter and spring nor-easters that can drop heavy snow or rain, autumn tropical systems, and spring and summer severe thunderstorms, so trip planners should track forecasts closely. Winter camping is possible but limited. Campgrounds at Cape Henlopen, Killens Pond, Lums Pond and Trap Pond State Park are open year-round, while many private parks and some Maryland state parks reduce services or close between late fall and early spring.

Killens Pond is a wooded family campground. The year-round facility features 59 sites which feature electric and water hookups, accommodating both tents and recreational vehicles. In addition, there is a primitive camping loop for tents only that features 17 walk-in sites. Facilities include clean bathhouses with free hot showers, potable water stations throughout the campground, and eleven cabins with kitchens. Delaware State Park Campgrounds are family campgrounds. Group camping is prohibited in family campgrounds. Individuals are limited to two sites at any time. Martinak is smaller and more rustic. The park has 63 sites suitable for RV camping divided into two loops. Sites can also be used for tent camping. Each campsite has a camping pad, picnic table, and a fire ring. About 30 of the sites have 30-amp electric hookups. However, sewer and water hookups are not available. A dump station is located in the campground just outside Camp Loop B. Private resorts in the area generally offer full hookups, Wi-Fi, pools, and family programming, which suits renters who want amenities over a state-park feel.
