Campgrounds near Hampton, Maryland
Hampton is an unincorporated community in Baltimore County, just north of the Baltimore Beltway and within easy reach of Towson, the Inner Harbor, and the Gunpowder and Patapsco river valleys. RV travelers use it as a base for exploring central Maryland's mix of state parks, Chesapeake Bay tributaries, and Washington-Baltimore corridor attractions. Most campgrounds sit within a 30 to 60 minute drive along I-83, I-95, or the Beltway.
Options range from state-park camping to full-hookup private parks. Patapsco Valley State Park - Hollofield Area lies west of the city off Route 40, while Susquehanna State Park sits northeast along the Susquehanna River near Havre de Grace. Merry Meadows Recreation Farm occupies rolling farmland in the Freeland area near the Pennsylvania line, and Bar Harbor RV Park and Marina fronts the Bush River in Abingdon.
For trips that pair Baltimore with Washington DC, the Washington DC / Capitol KOA Holiday provides a full-service option south of the city. Together these parks cover tent, trailer, and big-rig needs across public and private systems.
Things to do near Hampton
Hampton National Historic Site preserves an 18th-century Georgian mansion and grounds run by the National Park Service, and it sits minutes from the community. Nearby Loch Raven Reservoir and Gunpowder Falls State Park offer hiking, paddling, and fishing on the Big and Little Gunpowder rivers.
Patapsco Valley State Park offers extensive hiking, biking, and multi-use trails, with the Patapsco River providing water-based recreation. Susquehanna State Park adds mountain biking, boating and fishing on the river, and the Rock Run Historic Area with a working gristmill and the Carter-Archer Mansion.
Baltimore's Inner Harbor, the National Aquarium, and Fort McHenry are a short drive south. Families making a longer loop can pair the trip with museums and monuments in Washington DC.

The central Maryland camping season is anchored by the state-park calendar. Private parks in the area, including Bar Harbor RV Park and Marina, generally operate on longer or year-round seasons.
Spring brings mild days, wildflowers along the Patapsco and Gunpowder, and shoulder-season availability. Summer is peak season: hot, humid, and busy, especially on weekends and holidays. Fall delivers strong hardwood color, cooler nights, and easier reservations after Labor Day.
Winter is quiet. State-park campgrounds close, snow is possible from December through March, and off-season campers rely on year-round private parks. Note that the Hollofield Area campground at Patapsco Valley State Park has been closed for renovations, so verify status before planning a stay there.

Overall good time. Gray and black water were 2/3 full though and would have been nice to be empty. WiFi was ok in location but sometimes didn’t work. Maybe suspension does need a look over not horrible but slightly loose. Fresh water all the way full would be nice also. I tried to leave it cleaner than I got it as well for the delay on drop off but made sure to get here early this am.

We had such a fantastic time in this RV. It was in ideal size for our family of 5. We travelled from Maryland, through ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee. It was nice to drive and didn't feel too big. Clean throughout and no major issues. The host was very helpful and responded super quick to queries. We hope to rent again in the future.

Both VANessa and Vanessa were awesome. All the amenities are thoughtfully available. Van drove well and my son and I had a trip we’ll talk about for years and remember forever. Vanessa is a great communicator and great person. 5+ stars.
