Camping near Belmar, New Jersey
Belmar sits on the Jersey Shore in Monmouth County, roughly an hour south of Newark and within easy reach of Asbury Park, Point Pleasant, and the Manasquan Inlet. RV travelers use the town as a beach base, then head inland a short drive for wooded campsites. There are no campgrounds in Belmar itself; the closest options lie west along the Route 195 and Route 9 corridors.
Allaire State Park, near Howell, offers a mix of nature and history and is a short drive from Belmar and Point Pleasant beaches. Turkey Swamp Park, run by the Monmouth County Park System in Freehold Township, is another close public option. Private resorts in the area include Pine Cone Campgrounds, Tip Tam Camping Resort, and Butterfly Camping Resort.
Most sites in the area accommodate travel trailers and motorhomes, with a mix of full-hookup private parks and simpler public campgrounds. Reservation windows and season lengths differ between the state park, county park, and private resorts, so plan by campground type rather than by a single system.
Things to do around Belmar
The main draw is the beach. Belmar's boardwalk is used for walking, jogging, and ocean views, and the town's marinas serve as a hub for charter fishing, kayaking, and paddleboarding on the Shark River. Surfing and boogie boarding are allowed at designated beaches during the summer badge season.
Inland, Allaire State Park pairs camping with the historic 19th-century iron making village of Allaire and the Pine Creek Railroad, a narrow-gauge train ride operated by the NJ Museum of Transportation. The Manasquan River winds through the park and provides freshwater fishing, and the South Side area covers roughly 800 acres of trails for hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders. Turkey Swamp Park adds a 17-acre lake for boating and fishing with rental boats, 8 miles of trails, and playgrounds. Six Flags Great Adventure and the Jersey Shore Premium Outlets are within a short drive.

Summer is the peak season. Belmar's beaches require paid badges from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, and lifeguards patrol daily during that stretch. Weekends fill fastest at both public parks and private resorts, and holiday weekends around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day book out weeks in advance.
Camping seasons vary by property. Allaire State Park campsites are open from April 1 through December 15, and Turkey Swamp Park's family campground is open April 1 through November 15. Private resorts in Freehold and Jackson generally follow a similar April-to-late-fall pattern. Allaire's trailer sanitary station operates April 15 through October 15, and Turkey Swamp's water service runs on a similar schedule, so shoulder-season RV visitors should confirm hookup availability before arrival.
Spring and fall bring cooler nights, thinner crowds, and lower demand for sites. Late September and October are popular with RV travelers who want boardwalk access without summer badge fees and traffic. Winter camping is limited; the state park stays open into mid-December, but most private resorts close for the cold months.

Jacek was amazing with communication and having the advantages being able to have the RV delivered and set up was amazing. I wouldn’t have been able to do it myself. The camper was super clean, and comfortable. We had a great time.

Marc, the owner, and the RV went way beyond my expectations! Marc is super knowledgeable and helpful. The RV had every amenity you could want, was so easy to drive, and very well maintained. Prior to pick up date Marc sent me documentary and video informational instructions that were extremely useful. Marc was always available for any questions whether before or during our trip. We rented the RV for 13 days and traveled pretty far. I have no doubt that because the RV was so comfortable inconvenience. Our trip was effortless. I would definitely rent with Marc again and can’t wait for our next trip!

How to book campgrounds near Belmar
For Allaire State Park, online reservations can be made at camping.nj.gov, and bookings are accepted up to 11 months in advance. Campsites and shelters fill quickly for summer and holiday weekends, so booking at least three months ahead is recommended.
Turkey Swamp Park uses the Monmouth County Park System. Reservations are available online or by calling the campground office at 732-462-7286 after noon. Of 64 wooded family sites, 52 are reservable with prepaid fees for at least two nights and 12 are first-come, first-served; weekend reservations require a two-night minimum, while Sunday through Thursday allow one-night stays. Reservations for the coming year open after January 1.
Private parks including Pine Cone Campgrounds, Tip Tam Camping Resort, and Butterfly Camping Resort take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Book private resorts early for summer weekends.
What to expect at Belmar-area campgrounds
Public parks lean rustic. Allaire State Park has 45 tent and trailer sites with tables, fire rings, and grates, plus 10 shelters; flush toilets and showers are within walking distance, and there are no hookups at the sites. Turkey Swamp Park is more RV-friendly: all 64 campsites are pull-through with water and electric hookups, accommodate motorhomes up to 40 feet, and allow up to 6 people per site. A self-serve sanitary dump station is free for park campers.
Private resorts typically offer full hookups, pools, playgrounds, and camp stores, with sites closer together than at the state or county parks. Cell service can be spotty in wooded sections, and black bears are present in New Jersey parks, so follow posted bear safety protocols and store food securely.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Belmar%2C%20New%20JerseyWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Belmar?
Good news: a standard driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Belmar, NJ. New Jersey does not require a special RV license or Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for any motorhome you'll find on RVezy, including Class A, Class B campervans, and Class C motorhomes. You'll just need to be 25 or older and complete a quick ID verification through the RVezy platform to become an approved driver. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Yes, every RV rental in Belmar booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance. During checkout you'll choose the protection level that fits your trip, with tiers offering different coverage limits for physical damage to the RV. This gives you real financial peace of mind so a small mishap on the Garden State Parkway doesn't ruin your beach week. Guests, not hosts, select the coverage tier, which means you stay in control of your trip's protection from the moment you book.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Belmar RV rental?
Booking is low-risk: RVezy applies a standard cancellation policy to every booking, with a money-back grace period right after you book so you have time to finalize plans without stress. The exact refund depends on how far out from your trip start date you cancel. Hosts do not set their own cancellation terms on RVezy, so you'll get the same fair process whether you're renting a campervan or a fifth wheel. If a host cancels on you, RVezy issues a refund or travel credit. Pro tip: book early to lock in the best Belmar beach-week inventory, then secure your campground reservation right after.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an RV rental in Belmar?
Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental options in Belmar are easy to find on RVezy: just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter and you'll see motorhomes and travel trailers from hosts who welcome dogs. Belmar restricts dogs from the beach and boardwalk during the summer season, but nearby Manasquan Reservoir and Allaire State Park have miles of dog-friendly trails. For off-leash fun, Belmar's Maclearie Park has a dedicated dog area along the Shark River. Bring a towel for sandy paws and a collapsible water bowl, and your pup will be just as happy on this trip as you are.
belmar.com/318/Dogs-on-the-BeachCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Belmar?
Yes, RV delivery in Belmar is one of the most popular options for first-timers, and many local hosts offer it. Filter by Delivery on RVezy and you'll find owners who will tow or drive the RV directly to your campground, beach rental driveway, or a family member's home in Monmouth County, then set it up, level it, hook up utilities, and walk you through every system. That means zero stress about backing a 30-foot motorhome into a tight site or navigating Route 35 in summer beach traffic. Delivery fees vary by distance, so message the host with your exact address for an upfront quote before you book.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Belmar%2C%20New%20JerseyHow far can I travel on a Belmar RV trip?
Your Belmar RV trip can easily turn into an East Coast adventure. Hosts set their own mileage policies, and many offer generous daily allowances or even RV rental with unlimited mileage, especially for longer bookings. From Belmar you're about 75 miles from Philadelphia, 60 miles from New York City, and roughly 130 miles south to Cape May at the tip of the Jersey Shore. The Delaware Water Gap sits roughly 90 miles northwest if you want mountains instead of dunes. Check the listing's mileage section before booking, and message the host if you're planning a longer route.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Belmar%2C%20New%20JerseyWhere can I camp with my RV near Belmar?
You've got great options for RV camping near Belmar, all within a short drive of the boardwalk. Allaire State Park in Wall Township (about 15 minutes inland) has wooded sites with electric hookups and is a great fit for families. Turkey Swamp Park in Freehold offers sites around a quiet lake, roughly 25 minutes from the beach. For oceanfront vibes, Cedar Creek Campground in Bayville sits about 30 minutes south. Avoid overnight street parking in Belmar itself, as it's prohibited; campgrounds or driveway stays with delivery are your best bet.
nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/parks/allaire.htmlWhen is the best time to visit Belmar in an RV?
Late May through mid-October is prime season for renting an RV in Belmar, with summer (June through August) typically bringing highs in the 75 to 85 degree Fahrenheit range and warm Atlantic Ocean swimming. The local insider tip is to target the first two weeks of September: the water is still warm, beach badges drop in price after Labor Day, the boardwalk crowds thin, and campgrounds are easier to book. Spring (April to early May) is cool but quiet, ideal for surf-fishing trips, and fall foliage peaks in late October at nearby Allaire State Park. Winter rentals are available, but most Jersey Shore campgrounds close from late fall through early spring.
weather.gov/phi/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving in Belmar?
You'll do great, especially if it's your first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving the rig, hooking up at campsites, operating the slide-outs, and dumping tanks. Belmar's local roads (Ocean Avenue, Main Street, Route 35) are flat, well-marked, and easy to handle once you get comfortable. The trickiest moments are summer Saturday turnover traffic and the lower-clearance car-only sections of the Garden State Parkway, where taller RVs must use the truck lanes. If nerves are still a factor, choose delivery and skip the driving altogether.
state.nj.us/transportation/commuter/roads/parkwayrestrictions.shtmWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
You're covered. Every RV rental in Belmar booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so if you get a flat on the Garden State Parkway, lock yourself out at Allaire State Park, or have a battery die at the campsite, one phone call gets help dispatched. RVezy's customer support team is also available before, during, and after your trip for anything non-mechanical, like questions about the host or your booking. Your host is your other lifeline: they know their RV inside and out and are usually a quick text away. Save both numbers in your phone before pickup.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Belmar RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, interstate travel is welcome on most RVezy bookings, which makes an RV road trip from Belmar a perfect way to explore the Northeast. Popular routes include heading north to the Catskills or Vermont, south through Cape May and onto the Outer Banks, or west into Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and protection coverage, so confirm with your host by messaging through the listing before booking. One firm rule: travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental due to coverage limits. Always share your route with the host so they can flag any mileage or border-specific considerations.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on a Belmar RV trip?
Fuel is one of the easier costs to plan for in New Jersey, where gas prices typically sit near the national average and full-service is the law (you don't pump it yourself, which is a nice surprise for out-of-state visitors). Expect 8 to 12 miles per gallon for Class A and Class C motorhomes, 14 to 20 mpg for Class B campervans, and your tow vehicle's normal mileage minus about 20 percent for travel trailers. For a 300-mile loop around the Jersey Shore and Pine Barrens, budget roughly $100 to $175 in fuel. Wawa and QuickChek stations along Route 35 have larger lots that fit RVs comfortably.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Belmar?
Book early, because Jersey Shore campgrounds fill up fast. For summer weekends at New Jersey state parks like Allaire or Turkey Swamp, reservations open several months in advance through the NJ State Park reservation system, and the best sites are gone within hours of opening. Private parks often take bookings 6 to 12 months out for July and August. For a spontaneous trip, target midweek stays or shoulder season (May, September, October), when same-week availability is realistic. Pro tip: book your RV on RVezy first, then secure the campground; switching dates on a campsite is usually easier than rebooking an RV.
newjerseystateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are the driving conditions like around Belmar?
Belmar driving is mostly easy: the town sits on flat coastal terrain with a tidy grid of numbered streets. The main things to know for your motorhome rental in Belmar: the Garden State Parkway has height and weight restrictions in the car-only lanes, so taller RVs must use the truck lanes (clearly marked). Summer Saturdays bring heavy beach traffic on Route 35 and Ocean Avenue between 9 a.m. and noon and again 3 to 6 p.m., so plan arrivals for Friday evening or early Saturday morning. Winter brings the occasional nor'easter with snow or coastal flooding, but the roads are well-maintained year-round.
511nj.org/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Belmar?
Most of the best campgrounds near Belmar offer the full setup: 30/50-amp electric, fresh water hookups, sewer or dump stations, hot showers, and laundry. Allaire State Park has electric sites and a centralized dump station with potable water fill. Turkey Swamp Park in Freehold offers hookups plus a swimming lake. Private parks often include pools, Wi-Fi, and camp stores. If you're staying at a state park without sewer hookups, you can dump tanks on the way out. Pro tip: top off your fresh water tank before leaving the campground; many beach-area gas stations don't have potable water spigots.
nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/parks/What's inside a typical RV rental in Belmar?
You'll be impressed by how much fits inside. A typical campervan rental in Belmar (Class B) sleeps 2 to 3 and includes a small kitchen with fridge, sink, two-burner stove, a wet bath, and house batteries for off-grid nights. Class C motorhomes sleep 4 to 7 with a full bathroom, queen bed, dinette, microwave, roof AC, and seatbelted travel seats for everyone on board. Larger Class A and fifth wheels often add a TV, outdoor speakers, a generator for AC use without hookups, and sometimes Wi-Fi hotspots. Listings show photos and a full amenity checklist, so you can filter for exactly what you need, from family RV trip setups to romantic getaways for two.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Belmar%2C%20New%20JerseyWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Hosts on RVezy offer a great range of add-ons that make your Jersey Shore trip easier: bed linens and towel packages, kitchen kits, outdoor chairs and grills, bike racks, beach umbrellas, generators, and Wi-Fi hotspots. Pickup is usually at the host's home, often within a short drive of Belmar (Wall, Brick, Spring Lake, Neptune), and the orientation walkthrough typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. Many hosts also offer delivery to local campgrounds or your rental driveway for a flat fee. Mileage policies vary by listing, with typical daily allowances and an overage rate set per mile. Review all add-on pricing on the listing before booking.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Belmar%2C%20New%20JerseyHow do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and fully handled through RVezy: you pay with credit card at booking, and the platform holds funds securely until your trip is complete. The host sets a security deposit, which is pre-authorized on your card (not charged) before pickup and is separate from your booking payment. As long as you return the RV in the condition you received it, with the tanks handled and fuel topped off per the listing, the hold is released after your trip ends. Pro tip: take date-stamped photos at pickup and drop-off, especially of the exterior, interior, and dash mileage, so any questions are easy to resolve.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I park my RV in Belmar itself?
Knowing where to park an RV in Belmar saves a lot of stress. Belmar prohibits overnight street parking citywide, and the municipal beach lots are sized for cars, not 30-foot motorhomes. Your best bet is to base out of a campground (Allaire State Park is just 15 minutes inland) or use RV delivery so the rig sits at a private driveway. For daytime beach visits, the larger lots near Maclearie Park and the L Street marina area can accommodate smaller campervans and Class B rentals. If you're attending a Belmar event like the Seafood Festival or NJ Sandcastle Contest, arrive early or use rideshare from your campground.
