Campgrounds near Belvidere, New Jersey
Belvidere sits in Warren County along the Delaware River, directly opposite Pennsylvania and roughly 15 miles south of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. The area gives RV travelers a mix of private riverside resorts, family-run campgrounds in the surrounding hills, and public tent-and-trailer sites within nearby state forests. Most RV-friendly options cluster along the river corridor and along the ridges that carry the Appalachian Trail.
The closest full-service options are on both banks of the Delaware. Driftstone sits on the Pennsylvania side of the Delaware River and offers spacious sites for tents, popups, trailers and motorhomes, and has been providing family camping fun for over 60 years. Delaware River Family Campground is another river-focused property with cabin rentals and a boat launch. Triple Brook Camping Resort, Hickory Lake Campground, and Camp Taylor Campground extend the choices inland with wooded sites, ponds, and family activity programs.
Belvidere itself is a small county seat with groceries, fuel, and hardware, which makes it a practical resupply stop between longer stretches in the Water Gap or the Poconos.
Things to do near Belvidere
The Delaware River is the main draw. Paddling, tubing, and smallmouth bass fishing are standard on the calm stretches near Belvidere, and several campgrounds run their own canoe, kayak, and raft shuttles. Anglers can expect smallmouth bass, walleye, pickerel, channel catfish, muskellunge, rock bass, and bluegill, and a PA or NJ fishing license is required.
Hiking is the second anchor. Worthington State Forest has ten official blazed trails covering 26 miles, including the Appalachian Trail. A rocky and sometimes steep trail follows Dunnfield Creek from the Delaware River to Mount Tammany, or hikers can follow the trail to Sunfish Pond, a glacial lake carved during the last ice age, with a trail circling the pond and many boulders for resting and observation. Buttermilk Falls and the McDade Trail on the Pennsylvania side round out the day-hike options.
For rainy days, Lakota Wolf Preserve in Columbia and the museums in Delaware Water Gap village give families a break from the trail.

The private campgrounds around Belvidere operate on a warm-weather schedule. Driftstone is open mid-May to mid-October, and neighboring river campgrounds follow a similar pattern, opening around Mother's Day and closing in mid-October. Public land runs longer at the shoulders. Worthington State Forest has 69 tent and trailer sites and is open April 1 through December 31, giving RV travelers a longer window on the New Jersey side of the river.
Summer is peak season. July and August book out early, especially at riverbank sites, and holiday weekends often carry three-night minimums. At Driftstone, Memorial Day and Labor Day Weekends require a three-night minimum, and July 1 through Labor Day requires a three-night minimum if the reservation includes Friday or Saturday night. Riverbank campsites must be reserved for a minimum of one week from late June through Labor Day.
Spring brings high water and cool nights, which suits paddlers and anglers more than swimmers. Fall foliage peaks in mid-October along the Kittatinny Ridge and is a strong shoulder window for avoiding crowds. Winter closes the private grounds; public forest camping is limited and cold.

I accept the charges as followed. However I do not accept charge for 4 days. I only had the vehicle for 3 days. I'd like to dispute the 4th day charged for 250.00

How to book a campsite
Private campgrounds around Belvidere each run their own booking system, and policies vary. Driftstone takes reservations in person or by calling 888.355.6859, with office hours Sunday through Thursday from 8 AM to 9 PM and Friday and Saturday from 8 AM to 10 PM, and does not offer online booking. Delaware River Family Campground, Triple Brook Camping Resort, Hickory Lake Campground, and Camp Taylor Campground accept reservations through their own websites, with deposits due at booking.
Public sites in New Jersey state forests use a single central system. Online reservations for Worthington State Forest can be made at camping.nj.gov. Worthington State Forest Campground does not offer reservations through Recreation.gov.
For summer weekends and any riverfront site, book eight to twelve weeks out. Holiday weekends fill even earlier, and popular riverbank sites often require a full-week stay in peak season.
What to expect on the ground
Sites near Belvidere are generally wooded and level, with a mix of gravel and grass pads. Full hookups are not standard. At Driftstone, campsites include water and electric hook-up, and some sites include cable hook-up. Worthington's forest sites have no electric or water at each site, just at the bathrooms. Expect flush toilets, potable water spigots, and a dump station on the way in or out.
RV travelers should pay attention to access roads. The Riverton-Belvidere Bridge connects Belvidere with Lower Mount Bethel Township, PA, and is posted with an 8-ton weight restriction and a 15 mph speed limit. Its clear roadway width is only 16 feet 4 inches between railings, accommodating two narrow lanes. That combination is not suitable for most motorhomes or trailers, and GPS routing often sends drivers over restricted bridges, so follow the campground's own directions.
Pets are not permitted in the Worthington State Forest campground, though trained service dogs are welcome. Black bears are active in the region, so store food securely and keep the site clean.

Summer highs sit in the low-to-mid 80s with warm river swimming days, while spring (50s to 60s) brings wildflowers and fewer crowds. The real showstopper is fall: from late September through mid-October, the Delaware Water Gap explodes into red, orange, and gold foliage. Winters get cold (20s to 30s) with occasional snow, and Worthington State Forest's campground is open April through December. Pro tip: book a fall foliage weekend by mid-summer, it's the area's most popular RV season.
nps.gov/dewa/planyourvisit/things2do.htmI've never driven an RV before. Is renting in Belvidere a good idea for a first-timer?
Belvidere is one of the friendliest places in New Jersey for first time renting an RV. The area's rural roads (Route 46, County Route 519, and Old Mine Road) are scenic, low-traffic, and easy to navigate compared to the Jersey Shore or NYC metro. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup, covering everything from leveling and hookups to the propane and waste tanks, and you can text them throughout your trip. Choose a smaller Class C motorhome or campervan for an easier first drive. Pro tip: book delivery to your campground so your very first time behind the wheel can wait until you're ready.

You're never alone on the road. Every RVezy rental includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on I-80 or a battery issue at Worthington State Forest is just a phone call away. Your host is also your second line of support, they know their rig best and are usually quick to help troubleshoot. RVezy's customer support team is available before, during, and after your trip too. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number in your phone and snap a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate at pickup so any call moves fast.

Fuel is one of the more predictable costs of your Belvidere RV trip. Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), Class B campervans get 16 to 20 MPG, and large Class A rigs sit around 6 to 10 MPG. As of 2025, New Jersey allows self-service fueling at gas stations statewide, so you can pump your own or use full-service where offered. For a 200-mile round-trip into the Delaware Water Gap and back, budget roughly $60 to $100 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: top up in Belvidere or Phillipsburg before crossing into Pennsylvania to keep your trip moving smoothly.

Private campgrounds like Delaware River Family Campground and Driftstone often have more last-minute availability midweek. New Jersey caps vehicle width at 102 inches, length at 40 feet for a single vehicle, and height at 13 feet 6 inches on state roads, and LP gas vehicles are restricted from the Holland and Lincoln Tunnels.
