Campgrounds and RV parks near Dover Beaches North, NJ

Dover Beaches North sits on the northern end of the Barnegat Peninsula in Ocean County, part of Toms River Township. The community faces the Atlantic on one side and Barnegat Bay on the other, so RV travelers use it as a base for beach days, bay paddling, and boardwalk trips at nearby Seaside Heights and Point Pleasant Beach. The barrier island itself is dense residential and has no drive-in RV parks, so campers stay on the mainland and drive over the Route 37 bridge. Cedar Creek Campground and Canoe Rent, roughly 20 minutes southwest in Bayville, sits in Ocean County with both the Atlantic Ocean and Barnegat Bay within a 10 mile reach. Farther north, Allaire State Park offers public campsites in a wooded setting along the Manasquan River. Inland options in Jackson Township, including Tip Tam Camping Resort, Butterfly Camping Resort, and Pine Cone Campgrounds, put families within a short drive of both Six Flags Great Adventure and the Toms River bridges to the shore.

State park sites are booked through New Jersey's official system. Online reservations can be made at camping.nj.gov. Reservations open up to 11 months in advance, and campsites, and especially shelters, book up fast for summer and holiday weekends. Confirm current closures before booking, as Allaire's family loop has been offline for construction. Private campgrounds handle their own reservations. Butterfly Camping Resort takes bookings by phone at the office, and Tip Tam, Cedar Creek, and Pine Cone Campgrounds take bookings by phone or through their own websites. Club discounts through Good Sam or AAA may apply at participating parks. For July, August, and any three-day holiday weekend, book as early in the calendar year as possible. Shoulder-season weekends in May, September, and October are easier but still fill on short notice.
