Campgrounds near Netcong, New Jersey
Netcong sits in Morris County in northwest New Jersey, at the eastern edge of the Skylands region and about 50 miles from New York City. The area gives RV travelers a base within reach of Lake Hopatcong, the Musconetcong River corridor, and the forested ridges of Sussex and Warren counties. Interstate 80 runs a few minutes north of town, which makes access from the New York metro, Philadelphia, and the Poconos straightforward.
Options range from full-service private resorts to a state park campground. Panther Lake Camping Resort sits on 160 wooded acres featuring a 45-acre lake and offers swimming, boating, fishing, and a sandy beach, while The Great Divide Campground, LLC provides wooded and open sites with hookups, a pool, a camp store, and laundry facilities. Fla-Net Park and Goodland Country Club and Spa round out the closer-in choices.
For public-land camping, Stephens State Park sits within Allamuchy Mountain State Park along the Musconetcong River near Hackettstown, runs April 1 through October 31, and accommodates both tent campers and RVs up to 40 feet.
Things to do around Netcong
Water is the main draw. Lake Hopatcong, the largest lake in New Jersey, is minutes from town for boating, fishing, and lakeside dining. Stephens State Park offers fishing in the trout-stocked Musconetcong River, picnic tables and grills along the water, and six miles of marked trails for hiking, walking, and mountain biking, and the Saxton Falls section of the park upstream preserves the dam and a canal guard lock from the old Morris Canal.
Families staying at private resorts get on-site amenities without leaving the campground. Panther Lake Camping Resort includes a swimming pool, hot tub, sandy beach on the lake, boat rentals for kayaking and canoeing, pickleball and tennis courts, mini golf, and playgrounds. Waterloo Village, Allamuchy Mountain trails, and Wild West City in Byram Township are all short drives from most sites.

The camping window in this part of New Jersey is roughly mid-spring through late fall. Stephens State Park runs April 1 through October 31, and Panther Lake Camping Resort operates April 15 through October 31. Winter camping options are limited, and most private resorts close their pools and shut off water hookups well before Halloween.
Summer weekends are the busiest period. Family resorts fill for July 4th, and holiday weekends can sell out weeks in advance. Fall brings cooler nights, hardwood foliage across the ridges, and quieter sites, though weekends around peak color in mid-October still draw crowds.
Spring can be wet, with mud on unpaved sites and trout stocking underway on the Musconetcong. Black bears are active in Sussex and Morris counties from spring through fall, so food storage rules matter: keep coolers and trash inside the rig overnight and follow campground bear guidance.

I accept the charges as followed. However I do not accept charge for 4 days. I only had the vehicle for 3 days. I'd like to dispute the 4th day charged for 250.00

How to book campgrounds near Netcong
Reservations at Stephens State Park go through New Jersey's state system. Online reservations can be made at camping.nj.gov, and the 39 tent and small trailer sites tend to book quickly for summer weekends, so plan several months ahead for July and August. Check site dimensions carefully at the time of booking, as some sites are tight for larger rigs.
Private campgrounds handle their own bookings. Panther Lake Camping Resort and The Great Divide Campground both take reservations directly through their websites or by phone, and weekly, monthly, and seasonal stays are commonly offered alongside nightly rates. Confirm rig length, hookup type (30 vs 50 amp), and pet policy at the time of booking, and ask about dump-station access if the site is water and electric only.
What to expect on-site
Expect a mix of wooded and open sites, with tree cover common across the region. Panther Lake Camping Resort has a large seasonal contingent, so permanent RVs and cottages line many of the roads, and the layout mixes shaded wooded sites with more open sections suited to larger rigs. Cell service can be spotty in wooded pockets, and WiFi tends to be strongest near common areas such as the office, pool, or pavilion.
At Stephens State Park, roads and sites are tighter. The park accommodates RVs up to 40 feet, but the road layout and individual sites can be tight for larger rigs, and bigger Class A motorhomes and fifth wheels may have a harder time maneuvering through. Bring leveling blocks, and note that state sites are tent and small-trailer focused with no hookups.

How much does an RV rental in Netcong, NJ typically cost?
An RV rental in Netcong, NJ is one of the more affordable ways to explore northern New Jersey and the nearby Poconos. On RVezy, travel trailers in the Netcong area generally start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes run roughly $175 to $275 per night, and larger Class A rigs sit closer to $250 to $400 per night, with prices dipping in spring and late fall. To find a cheap RV rental in Netcong, book midweek, use the price filter, and look for listings with unlimited mileage so a quick run to Lake Hopatcong or the Delaware Water Gap doesn't eat into your budget. rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Netcong%2C%20New%20JerseyDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Netcong, NJ?
Good news for first-time renters: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Netcong, NJ. New Jersey does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for personal, recreational use, even for larger Class A motorhomes, since recreational vehicles are exempt from CDL rules. To book on RVezy you generally need to be 25 or older and pass a quick ID and driver verification, so pickup day goes smoothly. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you're set to roll out toward Lake Hopatcong on day one.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat protection is included with my Netcong RV rental?
You're covered from the moment you book. Every RV rental in Netcong, NJ on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can focus on your trip and not on what-ifs. The protection plan helps cover physical damage to the RV during your rental, giving you peace of mind whether you're parked at Panther Lake Camping Resort or cruising I-80 toward the Delaware Water Gap. During checkout you choose the level of coverage that fits you best (the renter selects, not the host), so you can dial protection up for total comfort or keep it lean to save. It's designed to remove the biggest worries from your motorhome rental in Netcong.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Netcong RV trip?
Booking is low-risk because RVezy sets a standard cancellation policy for every RV rental in Netcong, so the rules are consistent no matter which listing you choose. There is a money-back grace period right after booking and additional flexibility for qualifying situations, which matters in a region that occasionally sees Nor'easters and summer storms. You can review the full cancellation details in the RVezy Help Center before you confirm. If a host cancels on you, RVezy will help with a refund or rebooking credit. Pro tip: lock in your dates early for peak Lake Hopatcong summer weekends, knowing the policy is transparent and platform-wide.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Netcong RV rental?
Yes, plenty of hosts offer a pet-friendly RV rental in Netcong, NJ. Toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see listings where dogs (and sometimes cats) are welcome, often with details on size limits and any pet cleaning fee. Once you're on the road, Allamuchy Mountain State Park and Mahlon Dickerson Reservation both allow leashed dogs on trails, and the Lake Hopatcong area has shoreline spots perfect for a post-hike paddle with your pup. Message the host before booking if you have a large breed or multiple pets so everyone is aligned. Pro tip: pack a collapsible water bowl, since summer humidity in Morris County climbs fast.
nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/parks/allamuchy.htmlCan the RV be delivered to my campground or home in Netcong?
Yes, RV delivery in Netcong is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if you've never towed before. Many local hosts on RVezy will drive the RV directly to your campground, driveway, or event site, level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. That means you can book a site at Panther Lake Camping Resort in nearby Andover or Fla-Net Park in Flanders and skip the towing entirely. Use the Delivery filter when you search, then review each host's delivery radius and per-mile fee on the listing. Pro tip: delivery is ideal for families with young kids or anyone planning a stationary base-camp trip to explore the Skylands region.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Netcong%2C%20New%20JerseyHow far can I drive on a Netcong RV trip, and is unlimited mileage available?
You've got real range from Netcong. Many RVezy hosts offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is perfect because the best stuff is a short drive away: the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area is about 35 miles west, Jersey Shore beaches near Asbury Park sit roughly 60 miles southeast, the Pocono Mountains are 45 to 70 miles northwest, New York City is about 50 miles east, and Philadelphia is about 90 miles south. If a host caps daily mileage (commonly 100 to 150 miles per day), you can purchase extra miles up front or message them for a custom package. Pro tip: filter for unlimited mileage if you're planning an RV road trip from Netcong with multiple stops.
nps.gov/dewa/index.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near Netcong, NJ?
You're surrounded by great options. The best campgrounds near Netcong include Fla-Net Park in Flanders (about 5 miles south, with full hookups and a small lake), Panther Lake Camping Resort in Andover (around 12 miles north with a private lake, pool, and 50-amp sites), Mahlon Dickerson Reservation in Jefferson Township (Morris County's largest park, about 10 miles away with electric sites), Worthington State Forest along the Delaware River (about 35 miles west), and Stokes State Forest (roughly 30 miles northwest with forested sites). For RV camping in Netcong, reserve early; weekends from Memorial Day through mid-October fill up fast. Pro tip: Mahlon Dickerson has surprisingly dark skies for stargazing this close to NYC.
morrisparks.net/index.php/parks/mahlon-dickerson-reservationWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Netcong?
Netcong rewards travelers nearly year-round, but late April through mid-October is the sweet spot. Spring (April to May) brings daytime highs in the 60s and blooming dogwoods around Lake Musconetcong. Summer (June to August) runs warm and humid with highs in the mid-80s, perfect for swimming at Lake Hopatcong, though expect afternoon thunderstorms. Fall (mid-September to late October) is the local favorite: crisp 60-degree days, fiery foliage across Allamuchy Mountain, and fewer crowds at campgrounds. Winters dip into the 20s and 30s with occasional snow, and most private campgrounds close from November through March. Pro tip: book your Netcong RV trip for the first two weeks of October to catch peak Skylands foliage.
weather.gov/phi/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving one around Netcong?
You'll do great, even on your first RV rental. Every RVezy host gives a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering driving, leveling, hookups, the water system, and propane, so you won't leave the driveway guessing. Around Netcong, you have easy roads to practice on: Route 206 north toward Stanhope and Route 46 west are wide, lower-traffic stretches that are great for getting comfortable. Hold off on the narrow Old Mine Road along the Delaware River until you feel confident, and skip I-280 and the Lincoln Tunnel approaches entirely. Pro tip: ask your host about a Class C motorhome or campervan rental in Netcong; they drive much like a large van and are very beginner-friendly.
state.nj.us/transportation/What if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
You're never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so if you get a flat on I-80, a dead battery at Panther Lake, or an awning misbehaves at the Delaware Water Gap, help is one phone call away. You can also message your host directly through the RVezy app for quick troubleshooting; most are local to the Netcong, Mount Olive, or Lake Hopatcong area and respond fast. RVezy's support team is available before, during, and after every trip too. Pro tip: snap photos of the RV's systems during the walkthrough so you have a quick reference if you blank on which valve does what.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Netcong RV rental into New York, Pennsylvania, or across the Canadian border?
Cross-state travel is generally welcomed. Most hosts on RVezy allow trips from Netcong into New York (the Catskills are about 90 miles north), Pennsylvania (the Poconos are under an hour), Delaware, Massachusetts, and beyond, with insurance coverage that extends across the US. Travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the individual host and their insurance setup, so message them directly from the listing before booking if you're dreaming of Niagara Falls or Montreal. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: a popular RV road trip from Netcong is the loop through the Poconos, Finger Lakes, and Adirondacks, all easily reached without crossing a border.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on a Netcong RV trip?
Fuel in New Jersey is friendlier than you'd think: the state typically has some of the lower gas prices in the Northeast, and full-service pumping is the law (you don't pump your own). Expect a Class C motorhome to deliver roughly 8 to 10 miles per gallon, a Class B campervan 14 to 18 MPG, and a travel trailer paired with a tow vehicle around 10 to 12 MPG. For a 3-night trip with a 200-mile loop to the Delaware Water Gap and back, budget roughly $80 to $150 in fuel for a Class C at current pump prices. Fill up in Netcong or Stanhope before heading into the Poconos, where prices climb. Pro tip: drive 60 to 62 MPH on I-80 to noticeably stretch your tank.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Netcong?
Book early and you'll have the pick of the lot. For New Jersey state park campgrounds like Stephens, Allamuchy, Worthington, and Stokes State Forest, reservations run through the NJ State Park Service reservation system and popular summer weekends are often gone within days of opening. Aim for 4 to 6 months ahead for July, August, and Columbus Day weekend, and 2 to 3 months ahead for spring and shoulder-season weekends. Private parks like Panther Lake and Fla-Net Park book up fast for holiday weekends too. Pro tip: midweek arrivals (Sunday to Wednesday) at the best campgrounds near Netcong often have last-minute openings even in peak summer.
newjerseystateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are the local driving conditions like around Netcong?
Netcong sits at the crossroads of I-80, Route 46, and Route 206, so getting in and out is straightforward. I-80 west toward the Delaware Water Gap is a wide, RV-friendly highway, while Route 206 north toward Stanhope and Andover is a scenic two-lane that handles motorhomes well. Watch for low-clearance bridges in older Morris County towns (always trust posted clearance signs) and avoid the narrow Old Mine Road along the Delaware River in a big rig. Rush hour eastbound on I-80 toward NYC can crawl from about 6 to 9 AM and 3 to 7 PM, so plan departures around those windows. Pro tip: deer are common at dawn and dusk on Route 206 and Waterloo Road, so ease off the gas.
state.nj.us/transportation/What amenities and hookups can I expect at campgrounds around Netcong?
You'll find a great mix. Private parks near Netcong like Panther Lake Camping Resort and Fla-Net Park typically offer full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, and sewer), Wi-Fi, hot showers, laundry, pools, and an on-site dump station. New Jersey state park campgrounds at Stephens, Allamuchy, and Worthington tend to be more rustic, often with potable water spigots, vault or flush toilets, and a central dump station but limited or no electric, so plan to use your RV's onboard battery and water tanks. Fill fresh water before leaving and empty gray and black tanks at the campground's designated dump on your way out. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose and a basic surge protector for older electric pedestals.
nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/parks/index.htmlWhat's included inside a typical Netcong RV rental?
More than you'd expect. Most RV rentals in Netcong come fully equipped to live in from minute one: a real bed (or two or three), a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink, and cookware, a bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control with air conditioning and a furnace, and seatbelts for travel. Many listings also include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and an onboard generator or solar setup for off-grid stays. Wi-Fi is sometimes included; otherwise, your phone hotspot works well in most of Morris and Sussex counties. Each listing page shows exactly what's included, so you can match the rig to your trip. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps count to make sure everyone has a real bed, not a converted dinette.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Netcong%2C%20New%20JerseyWhat add-ons and pickup options can I expect when I rent an RV in Netcong?
Hosts in the Netcong area offer some genuinely useful extras: linen and towel packages ($30 to $75), camp chairs and outdoor tables, generators, propane fire pits, bike racks, BBQs, kayaks, and even pre-stocked kitchen kits. Delivery to your campground is a popular add-on, typically a few dollars per mile from the host's location. Standard pickup is in Netcong or a nearby Morris or Sussex County town, and you'll get a full walkthrough before heading out. Mileage policies vary: some hosts offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, others include 100 to 150 miles per day with a reasonable per-mile overage. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a linen package for a true turnkey family RV trip in Netcong, especially if it's your first time.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Netcong%2C%20New%20JerseyHow does payment and the security deposit work for a Netcong RV rental?
Payment is simple and secure on RVezy. You pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card when you book; never hand cash directly to a host. A refundable security deposit is held separately from the booking payment (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV's value and the host) and released back to your card after drop-off, assuming the RV is returned in the condition it left in. To avoid issues, do a thorough walkthrough at pickup, photograph any existing scuffs or scratches, follow the host's mileage and generator-hours policy, and return the RV with the fuel and propane levels noted in your agreement. Pro tip: keep all gas receipts; they're handy if any fuel-level questions come up.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat's a great first RV road trip itinerary from Netcong?
Here's a crowd-pleaser for a family RV trip in Netcong: Day 1, pick up your RV and head 12 miles north to Panther Lake Camping Resort or 35 miles west to Worthington State Forest along the Delaware River. Day 2, hike to Sunfish Pond or paddle the Delaware at the Water Gap. Day 3, drive about 25 miles to High Point State Park (New Jersey's highest elevation at 1,803 feet) for panoramic three-state views. Day 4, swing back through Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey's largest lake, for a sunset paddle. Day 5, drop the RV back in Netcong relaxed and refilled. Pro tip: stop at Waterloo Village historic site between Netcong and Stanhope; it's free, kid-friendly, and a Morris County gem.
