Campgrounds and RV parks near Point Pleasant Beach, NJ

The beach and boardwalk are the main draw. Travelers typically split time between the ocean, the amusement pier, and calmer bayside spots on the Manasquan and Metedeconk rivers. Fishing charters and party boats leave from the Manasquan Inlet, and surfcasting is common on the north jetty. Inland, Allaire State Park is best known for its historic 19th-century iron-making town, Allaire Village, and the Pine Creek Railroad, a narrow-gauge train ride. The Manasquan River supports freshwater fishing, and a network of trails winds through the park for hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders. Paddlers head south to Cedar Creek and Double Trouble State Park. Cedar Creek Campground and Canoe Rent runs canoe and kayak trips ranging from novice to experienced routes through the Pine Barrens.

The Jersey Shore camping season runs roughly April through October, with a tight summer peak. Many private parks open only for that window: Tip Tam Camping Resort operates April 1 to October 31. Public sites run longer. Allaire State Park campsites are open April 1 to December 15, and the trailer sanitary station is open mid-April through mid-October. July and August book out first. Weekends from June through Labor Day fill fast, and holiday weekends fill fastest. Online reservations for New Jersey State Parks can be made up to 11 months in advance, so booking at least three months ahead helps for summer and holiday weekends. Shoulder seasons work well for RV travel. May and September deliver mild days, lighter boardwalk crowds, and easier site selection. Late fall brings colder nights and shorter hours at attractions, and late-summer tropical systems and nor'easters can disrupt coastal stays. Park advisory: Allaire State Park family campsites are currently closed for construction of a new bathroom and shower facility, while group camping is unaffected and open April 1 to December 15. Confirm status before booking.

Coastal Jersey camping mixes pine and oak woods inland with sandy, open lots closer to the bay. Sites at Allaire and Cedar Creek tend to be wooded, and reviewers note that interior loops have narrow roads and low branches that can be tricky for larger rigs. One camper advised big RVs to take the open sites at Allaire, noting the road for partial and full shade campsites is extremely narrow and wooded. Expect standard state-park amenities at Allaire: drinking water, flush toilets, showers, and an RV dump station open mid-April to mid-October. Sites accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs and include a table, fire ring, and grate. Private resorts add pools, camp stores, and planned activities. Black bears are present in New Jersey parks, so follow bear safety protocols, and pets must be kept on a six-foot leash. Mosquitoes and ticks are active from late spring through early fall; pack repellent and check often.
