Campgrounds near Shark River Hills
Shark River Hills sits in Monmouth County, New Jersey, minutes from the Atlantic beaches at Belmar and Avon-by-the-Sea and a short drive inland to the pine and oak forests that ring the Jersey Shore. The area works well for RV travelers who want to split time between the ocean and wooded state or county parks, with most campgrounds concentrated in a compact ring west and south of town.
The closest public option is Allaire State Park, located in Monmouth County, known for its historic 19th-century iron making town, Allaire Village, and the Pine Creek Railroad, a narrow-gauge train ride. Farther west, Turkey Swamp Park is a 2,388-acre county park and nature preserve in Freehold Township managed by the Monmouth County Park System.
Private campgrounds in nearby Jackson, including Tip Tam Camping Resort and Butterfly Camping Resort, offer full-hookup RV sites geared to family stays, while Pine Cone Campgrounds rounds out the inland options within roughly a 30 to 45 minute drive of the coast.

The Manasquan River, which winds through the park, provides excellent opportunities for freshwater fishing, and the South Side area of the park is approximately 800 acres of varying terrain and has miles of unmarked trails as well as four primary marked multi-use trails.
At Turkey Swamp Park, a 17-acre lake for boating and fishing (boats available for rental), 8 miles of trails, open playfields, and playgrounds give kids room to run. Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson is close to the private resorts.

Marc, the owner, and the RV went way beyond my expectations! Marc is super knowledgeable and helpful. The RV had every amenity you could want, was so easy to drive, and very well maintained. Prior to pick up date Marc sent me documentary and video informational instructions that were extremely useful. Marc was always available for any questions whether before or during our trip. We rented the RV for 13 days and traveled pretty far. I have no doubt that because the RV was so comfortable inconvenience. Our trip was effortless. I would definitely rent with Marc again and can’t wait for our next trip!
