Camping near West Belmar, New Jersey
West Belmar sits along the Jersey Shore in Monmouth County, minutes from Belmar's beaches and boardwalk. RV renters use the area as a base for both coastal recreation and the wooded inland parks of central New Jersey. Most nearby campgrounds cluster west of town along the Route 195 and Route 9 corridors, within a 20 to 40 minute drive.
The closest public option is Allaire State Park in Farmingdale, which sits along the Manasquan River and combines forested campsites with the historic Allaire Village and Pine Creek Railroad. Turkey Swamp Park, a Monmouth County facility in Freehold Township, offers pull-through sites with water and electric hookups on a wooded property of roughly 2,400 acres.
Private campgrounds fill out the area. Pine Cone Campgrounds in Freehold, Tip Tam Camping Resort in Jackson, and Butterfly Camping Resort in Jackson provide RV sites with varying levels of amenities, and all sit within roughly 20 to 30 minutes of the shore.
Things to do around West Belmar
The Belmar and Spring Lake beaches, boardwalks, and Shark River inlet are the main draws in town. Fishing charters, surfing, and bike routes along the coast are all within a short drive of West Belmar campgrounds.
Inland, Allaire State Park offers hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and freshwater fishing on the Manasquan River, plus the restored 19th-century Allaire Village and the narrow-gauge Pine Creek Railroad operated by the NJ Museum of Transportation. Turkey Swamp Park adds a 17-acre lake for fishing and boating, an archery range, playgrounds, and about nine miles of multi-use trails through pitch pine and oak forest.
Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson is about 20 minutes from the Jackson-area campgrounds and works well as a family day trip.

Summer is peak season on the Jersey Shore. Beaches, boardwalks, and campgrounds fill quickly from Memorial Day through Labor Day, and weekend availability tightens well in advance. Weekday stays and shoulder-season trips in May, June, September, and October usually offer easier booking and cooler, drier weather for hiking and biking.
Most area campgrounds run a spring-through-fall season. Turkey Swamp Park's family campground is open April 1 through November 15, and its water service and trailer sanitary station typically run from mid-April through mid-November. Allaire State Park's campsites and shelters operate April 1 through December 15 in a standard year, though the family campsites are currently closed for construction of a new bathhouse; group camping remains open on the standard April to December schedule.
Winter camping options in the immediate area are limited. Private resorts often close after the fall, so RV renters planning December through March trips should confirm operating dates directly with each campground.

Jacek was amazing with communication and having the advantages being able to have the RV delivered and set up was amazing. I wouldn’t have been able to do it myself. The camper was super clean, and comfortable. We had a great time.

Marc, the owner, and the RV went way beyond my expectations! Marc is super knowledgeable and helpful. The RV had every amenity you could want, was so easy to drive, and very well maintained. Prior to pick up date Marc sent me documentary and video informational instructions that were extremely useful. Marc was always available for any questions whether before or during our trip. We rented the RV for 13 days and traveled pretty far. I have no doubt that because the RV was so comfortable inconvenience. Our trip was effortless. I would definitely rent with Marc again and can’t wait for our next trip!

How to book campgrounds near West Belmar
Allaire State Park reservations are handled through the state's online system at njportal.com, or by phone with the park office. Sites can be booked up to 11 months ahead, and summer and holiday weekends fill fastest, so booking well in advance is recommended for peak dates.
Turkey Swamp Park uses the Monmouth County Park System reservation system, available online or by calling the campground office at 732-462-7286 after noon daily. Reservations are accepted after January 1 for that year's season, and weekend bookings require a two-night minimum; 12 of the 64 sites are held as first-come, first-served.
Pine Cone Campgrounds, Tip Tam Camping Resort, and Butterfly Camping Resort take bookings directly by phone or through their own websites. Call ahead to confirm RV length limits and hookup availability.
What to expect on-site
Sites at Allaire State Park are primarily wooded with a few open-field spots. Amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, showers, fire rings, and picnic tables, plus a seasonal RV dump station that operates roughly mid-April through mid-October. The interior campground road is narrow, so larger rigs should request open sites.
Turkey Swamp Park's 64 pull-through sites all have water and electric hookups, plus modern restrooms with hot showers, laundry, a self-serve dump station, and a playground inside the campground. Sites accommodate motorhomes up to 40 feet.
Private resorts in the area generally offer full hookups, pools, and playgrounds, but site surfaces vary and cell and Wi-Fi coverage can be spotty. Black bears are present in New Jersey parks, so standard food-storage precautions apply, and pets must be leashed.
