Campgrounds and RV parks near Cortland West, NY

Cortland West sits in Central New York between the Finger Lakes and the northern Appalachian foothills, giving RV travelers a compact base for gorge hikes, lake days, and mountain-resort activities. The city lies just off Interstate 81, so most nearby campgrounds are reachable in under thirty minutes. Private parks close to town include Yellow Lantern Kamp Grounds on Route 13 north of Cortland, Cortlands Country Music Park and Campground, Greek Peak Mountain Resort Campground at Hope Lake south of the city, and Empire Haven Nudist Resort and Campground. For public land, Fillmore Glen State Park sits southwest near Moravia and is the closest New York state park campground with a full reservation system. Together these options cover the range most families need: full-hookup RV pads near the highway, resort-style camping with pools and activities, and a state-park loop set inside a wooded gorge.

New York State Parks, including Fillmore Glen, use a single reservation system. Reservations can be made through ReserveAmerica up to 9 months in advance, with a 2-night minimum for standard bookings. Same-day reservations are allowed until 3 p.m. on day of arrival for campsites, and walk-ins are accepted at campsites only. Private parks book directly. Yellow Lantern Kamp Grounds, Cortlands Country Music Park and Campground, and Empire Haven Nudist Resort and Campground all take reservations through their own websites or by phone. Reservations for the Campground at Hope Lake are made through Greek Peak Mountain Resort's website. For summer weekends and holidays, booking two to three months out is prudent. Cancellations do free up sites closer in, especially at the state park.
