Campgrounds and RV parks near Highland Falls, NY

Highland Falls sits on the west bank of the Hudson River at the doorstep of the United States Military Academy at West Point, with Bear Mountain State Park immediately south and Harriman State Park just beyond. The village is roughly an hour north of New York City, which makes it a common weekend RV destination and drives strong demand for nearby campsites. RV travelers typically choose between rustic state park campgrounds and full-hookup private parks. Beaver Pond Campground inside Harriman State Park is the closest state-run option, while Pelton Pond at Clarence Fahnestock State Park sits a short drive north in Putnam County. For hookups and family amenities, New York City North / Newburgh KOA Holiday, Sylvan Lake Beach Park Inc, and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Lazy River are the primary private options in the surrounding Hudson Valley. Most campgrounds in the area are seasonal, running roughly mid-spring through mid-fall. Winter camping options are limited, and reservations for summer weekends fill early.

New York state park campgrounds, including Beaver Pond Campground at Harriman State Park and Pelton Pond at Clarence Fahnestock State Park, are booked through the ReserveAmerica system operated by New York State Parks. Reservations can be made up to nine months in advance and can also be made for same-day arrival. From mid-May through early October, same-day state park reservations are accepted only until 3 p.m., and walk-ins are permitted on campsites only. Weekend sites tend to fill quickly because of proximity to New York City, so booking well ahead is recommended for peak summer and foliage weekends. Private campgrounds like New York City North / Newburgh KOA Holiday, Sylvan Lake Beach Park Inc, and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Lazy River are booked directly through each operator's website, with holiday and themed weekends filling first.
