Campgrounds and RV parks near Ancient Oaks, PA

Ancient Oaks sits in Lower Macungie Township in Lehigh County, between Allentown and Kutztown in Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley. The area works well as an RV base: it puts travelers within roughly a half-hour drive of the Poconos to the north, Reading and Amish Country to the south, and Philadelphia and New York City each within about ninety minutes. Private RV parks handle most of the demand close to town. Allentown KOA Journey in New Tripoli offers full-hookup sites off Interstate 78, and Moyers Lake and Campground, Lazy-K Campground Inc, Pine Hill RV Park, and Quaker Woods Campground round out the closer private options for families and travelers passing through on I-78 or US 22. For state-park camping, travelers typically drive north into the Poconos to Hickory Run State Park or west to Locust Lake State Park, both of which take reservations through the Pennsylvania state parks system. Beltzville State Park, in the southern foothills of the Poconos, is a popular day-use destination but does not offer overnight camping.

Private campgrounds near Ancient Oaks take reservations directly. Allentown KOA Journey books through the KOA website or by phone. Moyers Lake and Campground, Lazy-K Campground Inc, Pine Hill RV Park, and Quaker Woods Campground each accept reservations through their own websites or by phone; call ahead to confirm big-rig length and hookup availability. Pennsylvania state parks with camping, including Locust Lake and Hickory Run, use the Pennsylvania State Parks and Forests Reservation system at pa.gov or by calling 888-PA-PARKS. Most sites open eleven months in advance at noon Eastern Time, and popular weekends can fill the day the window opens. For summer weekends and fall foliage, reserve two to three months out at private parks; state-park sites for holidays often go the day they release.
