Campgrounds near Ardmore
Ardmore sits on Philadelphia's Main Line in Montgomery County, roughly ten miles west of Center City. The immediate borough is dense residential and commercial, so RV camping happens on the metro's outer ring, primarily to the northwest in Bucks and Montgomery counties, west toward Chester County, and across the Delaware River into southern New Jersey.
Closer to Ardmore on the Pennsylvania side, Village Scene Park sits in Hatfield about 30 miles north of Philadelphia and operates year-round. It is primarily a manufactured-home community with roughly 30 RV sites that accept big rigs up to 45 feet with 30/50 amp full hookups. Oak Grove Park and Sales is a neighboring option in the same Hatfield area.
Across the river in New Jersey, Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday is a common base for visitors touring Philadelphia. Lake Kandle in Sewell and Old Cedar Campground round out the South Jersey options within about an hour's drive of Ardmore.
Things to do near Ardmore
Most RV trips based near Ardmore center on Philadelphia itself: Independence National Historical Park, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Please Touch Museum for families, and the Franklin Institute. SEPTA regional rail from Ardmore station reaches Center City in about twenty minutes, which is often easier than driving and parking a tow vehicle downtown.
Outdoor day trips are close at hand. Valley Forge National Historical Park is a short drive northwest, with paved trails and a driving tour loop. French Creek State Park in the Schuylkill Highlands offers hiking, fishing, and biking across one of the largest blocks of contiguous forest in southeastern Pennsylvania. Longwood Gardens, the Brandywine Valley museums, and Hershey are all within a two-hour radius.

The greater Philadelphia camping season is shaped by hot, humid summers and cold winters. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable stretches for RV travel, with mild days, cooler nights, and lower humidity than July and August. Fall foliage in the surrounding Piedmont typically peaks from mid-October into early November.
Summer is peak family season. School-holiday weekends around Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Labor Day book up first, and many private parks in the region operate largely on seasonal contracts, which tightens transient inventory. Thunderstorms are common on summer afternoons.
Winter camping options are limited. Lake Kandle runs roughly from the last Friday of April through the first Sunday of October, and several other South Jersey parks also operate as seasonal parks. Village Scene Park operates year-round, which makes it one of the few options in the immediate area for shoulder-season or off-season stays. Expect occasional snow and freeze cycles from December through February.

He was incredibly responsive to our needs and questions, and was very flexible to our situation and always very accommodating. The van drives very well and was incredibly comfortable for our family of 4. Highly recommended!

How to book near Ardmore
Private parks near Ardmore take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone, and popular summer weekends can fill weeks or months out. Because several parks in the area lean heavily on seasonal renters, transient RV sites are a small share of inventory, so early booking is important for Friday and Saturday arrivals from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Pennsylvania state parks use a separate system. Most campsites in Pennsylvania state parks can be reserved 11 months in advance to noon of the day of arrival, with unreserved sites available on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations can be made using the Pennsylvania State Parks and Forests Reservations website or by calling 888-PA-PARKS. Pennsylvania opens its 11-month window at 12:00 PM Eastern Time, which is an unusual noon release time among state park systems.
What to expect near Ardmore
There is no true wilderness camping right next to Ardmore. Options range from suburban RV parks with paved pads and full hookups to family resorts with pools and planned weekend activities. Reviewers describe sites in the area as narrow with limited natural scenery, closer to urban camping than backcountry, so travelers looking for forested settings will need to drive west toward Chester County or north into the Pocono foothills.
Amenity levels vary. Lake Kandle exclusively welcomes RV, motorhome, and pop-up camping, with tent camping strictly prohibited, and pets are not permitted. Village Scene Park is essentially a mobile-home community with a small number of paved RV sites rather than a traditional campground. Traffic on I-76, I-95, and the Blue Route can be heavy, so plan arrivals outside weekday rush hours.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Ardmore%2C%20PennsylvaniaDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Ardmore, PA?
Good news: a regular Pennsylvania driver's license is all you need for the vast majority of RVs you'll find on RVezy in Ardmore. Nearly every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, travel trailer, and fifth wheel on the platform comes in well under the 26,001-pound threshold that would require a non-commercial Class B license in PA. RVezy requires approved drivers to be at least 25 years old with a valid license, and your ID is verified through the platform during booking. Visiting from abroad? Bring an International Driving Permit alongside your home license and you're road-ready for your Ardmore RV trip.

Every RV rental in Ardmore booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit I-76 or the Pennsylvania Turnpike with real peace of mind. You (not the host) choose the protection level at checkout, and higher-tier plans typically come with lower deductibles and broader coverage for physical damage to the RV. While it isn't a traditional auto insurance policy, it provides meaningful financial protection in the event of an incident. Pro tip: review each plan's coverage and deductible at booking so you can match the right tier to your Main Line getaway.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Ardmore RV rental?
You can book your Ardmore RV trip with confidence because RVezy (not the individual host) sets the cancellation policy, and there's a grace period right after booking that lets you change your mind risk-free. After that window, refund eligibility depends on how far out you are from your trip start date. If your host cancels, RVezy helps you secure a refund or rebooking credit. The full policy lives in your RVezy account and the Help Center. Pro tip: book early to lock in the best Main Line rigs for Eagles season or Penn graduation, then revisit your plans as the date approaches.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an Ardmore, PA RV rental?
Yes, a pet-friendly RV rental in Ardmore is easy to find: toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see plenty of dog-welcoming rigs from Main Line hosts. Many charge a small pet fee and ask that pets be crated when left alone in the RV. Once you arrive, your pup will love the off-leash dog park at Haverford Reserve, the leashed trails at Valley Forge National Historical Park about 20 minutes away, and the paths around Ardmore's Linwood Park. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any breed or size limits so your four-legged co-pilot is locked in.
nps.gov/vafo/planyourvisit/pets.htmCan the RV be delivered to me in Ardmore?
Yes, RV delivery in Ardmore is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters who'd rather not drive a big rig through Lower Merion's narrow streets or onto the Schuylkill Expressway. Many local hosts will deliver your motorhome rental in Ardmore directly to your driveway or a nearby campground such as Philadelphia/West Chester KOA. Delivery fees are typically based on mileage from the host's location. Pro tip: filter by Delivery on RVezy, then ask your host to handle setup and the orientation walkthrough on-site so all you have to do is unpack and relax.

nps.gov/vafo/index.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near Ardmore, PA?
The best campgrounds near Ardmore are all within an hour's drive, since Ardmore itself is a leafy Main Line suburb without an in-town RV park. Philadelphia/West Chester KOA Holiday in Coatesville (about 35 miles west) offers full hookups and a pool, and is well placed for Longwood Gardens visits. Philadelphia South/Clarksboro KOA is roughly 30 miles south across the Delaware in NJ. French Creek State Park in Elverson (about 45 miles) has wooded sites near Hopewell Furnace, and Hidden Acres Campground in Quakertown delivers a quieter family vibe. Pro tip: book Pennsylvania state park sites through the official reservation system up to 11 months in advance for summer weekends.
pennsylvaniastateparks.reserveamerica.com/When is the best time of year for RV camping near Ardmore?
Late April through mid-October is the sweet spot for RV camping near Ardmore, with peak season running June through early September when daytime highs typically sit in the upper 70s to upper 80s F. May and September are insider favorites: temperatures hover in the comfortable 65-75 F range, campgrounds are quieter, and humidity drops noticeably. Fall foliage at French Creek State Park generally peaks in mid-to-late October. Winter rentals (December-February) are available from some hosts, but average highs around 35-45 F mean you'll want a four-season rig. Pro tip: book around mid-September to dodge crowds while still enjoying warm pool weather at most KOAs.
weather.gov/phi/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be on my own?
Not at all, and that's the best part of your first time renting an RV in Ardmore through RVezy. Every host provides a full orientation walkthrough at pickup (or at delivery if you choose that option), covering the generator, hookups, slide-outs, propane, awning, and tanks so you can ask questions in real time. You can also message hosts directly from any listing before booking. If anything comes up mid-trip, 24/7 roadside assistance and RVezy support are a phone call away. Pro tip: choose a Class B campervan or smaller Class C for your first Main Line getaway, they drive much like an oversized SUV.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002180553-For-rentersWhat happens if something breaks down during my trip?
Take a breath, you're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so if you get a flat tire on the Schuylkill Expressway, run out of fuel near Valley Forge, or have a battery issue at French Creek State Park, help is one call away. Your host is also a direct message away to troubleshoot quirks unique to their rig. For mechanical issues beyond roadside, RVezy customer support helps coordinate next steps so your trip keeps moving. Pro tip: save the roadside number and your host's contact in your phone before you leave Ardmore, and snap photos at pickup so any issue is easy to document.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Ardmore RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, interstate travel is standard for an RV rental in Pennsylvania, and Ardmore's location makes it ideal: you're under 10 miles from the New Jersey border, about two hours from New York City, three hours from Washington, D.C., and four hours from Baltimore. Cross-border travel to Canada may be allowed depending on the host and the protection plan you select, so message the host before booking to confirm. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals due to insurance limitations. Pro tip: a popular RV road trip from Ardmore is the I-95 corridor down to Williamsburg, VA or up through New England for fall color.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Pennsylvania RV trip?
Fuel is one of the more predictable parts of your Ardmore RV trip budget. Expect roughly 8-10 MPG for a Class A, 10-14 MPG for a Class C, 18-22 MPG for a Class B campervan, and about 12-16 MPG for a tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer. Pennsylvania gas prices typically run slightly above the national average. For a 300-mile loop from Ardmore to the Poconos and back, plan to budget around $100-$160 in fuel for a mid-size Class C, adjusted to current pump prices. Pro tip: check current PA prices on the EIA before your trip and top off in New Jersey or Delaware when convenient, where gas taxes are lower.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Ardmore?
For the best campgrounds near Ardmore, plan ahead: Pennsylvania state parks like French Creek and Ridley Creek open reservations up to 11 months in advance through the official PA state park reservation system, and prime summer weekends fill within hours of opening. Private parks like Philadelphia/West Chester KOA and Hidden Acres typically book up 2-4 months out for July and August, while shoulder-season weekdays often have same-week availability. Holiday weekends (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day) are the toughest. Pro tip: if Valley Forge area parks are full, Marsh Creek State Park or Tohickon Family Campground in Bucks County are excellent backups within 45-60 minutes of Ardmore.
pennsylvaniastateparks.reserveamerica.com/What's it like driving an RV around Ardmore and Philadelphia?
Driving an RV around Ardmore is manageable if you stick to the right roads, and choosing delivery from your host removes the question entirely. The Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76), the Blue Route (I-476), and US-202 all handle big rigs comfortably. What you'll want to avoid: low-clearance underpasses on Lancaster Avenue through downtown Ardmore, the tight streets of Manayunk, and Center City Philadelphia rush hour. Always check posted clearances before heading into the city. Pro tip: route around Center City using I-476 to I-95 and you'll be at the shore or the Brandywine Valley before you'd have crawled through downtown traffic.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Pages/default.aspxWhat amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Ardmore?

Philadelphia/West Chester KOA and Philadelphia South/Clarksboro KOA offer full hookups (water, sewer, 30/50-amp electric), Wi-Fi, pools, and on-site dump stations. Pennsylvania state parks like French Creek and Ridley Creek typically offer electric hookups at many sites with potable water spigots and centralized dump stations, but no in-site sewer. Most parks have hot showers, laundry, and propane refills nearby. Pro tip: many PA Turnpike service plazas and large truck stops in the region offer public dump stations if you need a mid-trip cleanout between campgrounds.

Many listings include a TV, Wi-Fi hotspot, outdoor speakers, awning, and generator. Class A and larger Class C motorhomes often have slide-outs that dramatically expand living space. Pro tip: check the listing's amenities checklist and message the host to confirm bedding, towels, and kitchen essentials are included so you can pack light from the Main Line.

Pickup is usually at the host's home in Ardmore, Bryn Mawr, Wynnewood, or a nearby Main Line town, with check-in typically around 3 PM and check-out by 11 AM. Pro tip: bundle delivery plus a generator package for a boondock-friendly trip to a Pennsylvania state park.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Ardmore%2C%20PennsylvaniaHow do payment and security deposits work on RVezy?
Payment is straightforward and secure: when you book your RV rental in Ardmore on RVezy, your card is charged through the platform (never directly to the host), with most bookings split into an initial payment and a balance due before your trip. A refundable security deposit is held shortly before pickup and released after the trip ends as long as the RV is returned in the same condition. Deposit amounts vary by rig and the protection plan you choose. Pro tip: do a thorough walk-around video with your host at pickup and drop-off, and note fuel and propane levels, to virtually eliminate any deposit disputes on your Main Line return.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I park or store an RV overnight in Ardmore itself?
Knowing where to park an RV in Ardmore matters for a smooth trip, since Lower Merion Township (where Ardmore sits) restricts overnight street parking of recreational vehicles in most residential zones. The simplest approach: use your own or your host's driveway for pickup and drop-off, then head straight to a proper campground like Philadelphia/West Chester KOA or French Creek State Park for overnight stays. Pro tip: choose delivery from your RVezy host and you skip the parking question entirely, your rig arrives where you actually plan to camp.
