Campgrounds and RV parks near Belleville, PA

Belleville sits in the Kishacoquillas Valley of Mifflin County, central Pennsylvania, with the ridges of the Seven Mountains region rising to the north and west. The town is a practical base for RV travelers exploring Rothrock State Forest, the Juniata River corridor, and Amish farm country. State College, Lewistown, and Huntingdon are all within roughly a half-hour drive. Greenwood Furnace State Park is the closest public campground, about five miles west of town along PA 305, with 49 tent and trailer sites plus two walk-in sites, and 44 of the sites have electric hookups. Waterside Campground and RV Park sits along the Juniata River and takes larger motorhomes. Hartman Center Campground and Seven Mountains Campground round out the private options in the surrounding mountains, and the Centre County Grange Fairgrounds handles event camping farther north. Expect wooded, hilly terrain, two-lane highways, and limited cell service in the state forest. Belleville itself has a well-known Wednesday livestock sale and Amish market, useful for provisioning between trips.

State park sites at Greenwood Furnace State Park are booked through the Pennsylvania State Parks and Forests reservation system, online or by phone at 888-PA-PARKS (888-727-2757). Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance to noon of the day of arrival, and unreserved sites are available on a first-come basis. The maximum stay is 14 consecutive nights from Memorial Day to Labor Day and 21 nights during the remainder of the year, with a 48-hour break required between stays. Private campgrounds handle their own reservations. Waterside Campground and RV Park, Seven Mountains Campground, and Hartman Center Campground each book directly through their own websites or by phone. For summer weekends and Penn State football weekends, reserve several months out.
