Campgrounds near Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania
Bloomsburg sits in Columbia County along the Susquehanna River in northeastern Pennsylvania, at the confluence of Fishing Creek and the main river, roughly midway between Harrisburg and Wilkes-Barre. Interstate 80 runs just south of town, making the area an easy stop for RV travelers routing across the state, and Route 42 connects south to the small towns of Catawissa and Elysburg.
Most overnight camping in the area is at privately run, family-style RV parks rather than state park campgrounds. Indian Head Campground sits along the Susquehanna near the borough, while Deihls Camping Resort operates a few miles north. South of town, Springbrook Family Campground, Knoebels Lake Glory Campground, and J and D Campgrounds cluster around Catawissa and Elysburg near Knoebels Amusement Resort.
Ricketts Glen State Park, known for its Falls Trail and Lake Jean, is about 30 miles north and provides the closest public-land camping option for travelers who prefer state park sites over private hookups.
Things to do around Bloomsburg
Knoebels Amusement Resort in Elysburg is the region's headline attraction: a free-admission park with more than 60 rides, wooden coasters, and family attractions. Guests staying at Knoebels Lake Glory Campground can use a free shuttle between the campground and the park.
The Susquehanna River is the other main draw. Indian Head Campground sits along the river near the mouth of Fishing Creek, giving paddlers and anglers direct access to the water and to a stocked trout creek. Kayaking, tubing, and bass fishing are all common in warm months.
The Bloomsburg Fair, held each September at the fairgrounds a short distance from the river, is one of the largest agricultural fairs in Pennsylvania and drives heavy demand for nearby campsites during fair week.

Most private campgrounds around Bloomsburg run a seasonal calendar. Indian Head Campground operates from May 1 through October, and Knoebels Lake Glory Campground follows the amusement park's operating calendar from late April through the fall Hallo-Fun weekends. RVers arriving outside these windows will find most private parks closed or on limited service.
Spring can be muddy along the river bottom, and riverfront sites near Fishing Creek and the Susquehanna have flooded during high-water events. Calling ahead to confirm wet-weather conditions before arrival is standard practice at low-lying parks.
Demand peaks twice: during Knoebels summer weekends, and again for Bloomsburg Fair week in late September, when campgrounds within a short drive of the fairgrounds fill first. Fall foliage in the surrounding ridges holds through October, and Ricketts Glen State Park stays open year-round for those looking for cool-weather camping and access to the Falls Trail.

Everything was perfect! Plenty of room us, two kids (13 & 11) and our dog. The RV had everything we needed and the full-size fridge and pantry were great for extra storage space. Owners were great with excellent communication. Highly recommend!!

How to book
Private campgrounds around Bloomsburg take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Indian Head Campground, Deihls Camping Resort, Springbrook Family Campground, Knoebels Lake Glory Campground, and J and D Campgrounds each manage their own inventory, and Knoebels uses an online booking system for Lake Glory. Reservations are effectively required for Bloomsburg Fair week, holiday weekends, and Knoebels summer weekends, when Lake Glory sites can fill many months out.
For Ricketts Glen State Park and other Pennsylvania state parks in the region, bookings go through the Pennsylvania State Parks reservation system or by calling 888-PA-PARKS. The window opens 11 months in advance at noon Eastern time, and campsites remain reservable up to noon of the day of arrival, with any unreserved sites offered first-come, first-served.
What to expect
Campgrounds around Bloomsburg lean rustic and family-run rather than resort-style. Expect grass or gravel sites with 30-amp electric standard and 50-amp available at select parks, water and sewer at most full-hookup sites, and dump stations at parks without full hookups. Big-rig access is generally workable at Deihls Camping Resort, Knoebels Lake Glory, and Indian Head, though internal roads at older river-bottom parks can be tight and uneven.
Cell reception is reliable in and around Bloomsburg proper but drops off quickly in the ridges toward Ricketts Glen. Pennsylvania state parks enforce quiet hours and prohibit alcohol; private parks vary, with several offering weekend activities such as bingo, live music, and organized crafts during peak season.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Bloomsburg, PA
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Bloomsburg, PA?

On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $90 to $130 per night, campervans range from $125 to $200, and Class C motorhomes usually run $175 to $275 per night. Pop-up campers and smaller trailers can come in even lower, making this a great spot for first-time renters. Prices climb during Bloomsburg Fair week in late September and peak fall foliage in October, so booking 6 to 8 weeks ahead helps lock in better rates. For a cheap RV rental in Bloomsburg, look midweek in May or early June when campgrounds are open but demand is light. Pro tip: filter by Delivery on RVezy to skip the tow vehicle cost entirely.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Bloomsburg,PennsylvaniaWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Bloomsburg. Pennsylvania does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for the motorhomes, campervans, and travel trailers listed on RVezy. To rent an RV in Bloomsburg on RVezy, approved drivers are generally required to be 25 or older, and your ID is verified through the platform during booking, so there is no extra paperwork at pickup. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you are set. Most renters are surprised how straightforward the process is, even for first-timers stepping into a Class C for the first time.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs the RV protected if something happens during my trip?
Yes, every RV rental on RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built into your booking. Protection helps cover damage to the vehicle so you can travel with real peace of mind, whether you are parked at Knoebels Campground in Elysburg or winding through the back roads to Ricketts Glen. During checkout on RVezy, you choose the protection level that fits your trip, so you control the coverage, not the host. It is specifically designed for peer-to-peer RV rentals and handles the kinds of bumps, scrapes, and surprises that can happen on the road. Bottom line: book with confidence and focus on enjoying the Susquehanna River views.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Bloomsburg RV rental?
You are not locked in the moment you book. RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not the host), and it includes a grace period window where you can get a full refund shortly after booking, plus partial refund options depending on how far out from your trip you are. That means if your plans for the Bloomsburg Fair shift or a Pennsylvania winter storm rolls through, you have options. The full terms are spelled out clearly on the RVezy website before you confirm your booking. If a host ever needs to cancel, RVezy refunds the guest or provides travel credits. Booking an RV rental in Pennsylvania has never felt this low-risk, which is one reason first-timers love the platform.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Bloomsburg?
Yes, plenty of hosts offer pet-friendly RV rental in Bloomsburg. Toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you will see every listing that welcomes your dog (some hosts welcome cats too). Bloomsburg is dog-loving country: the Susquehanna River walking paths are leash-friendly, and Ricketts Glen State Park welcomes leashed pets on most trails (the Falls Trail does not allow pets). Message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee. Pro tip: pack a tie-out stake and a collapsible water bowl for camp time at Bloomsburg Town Park.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/where-to-go/state-parks/find-a-park/ricketts-glen-state-park.htmlCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Bloomsburg?
Yes, RV delivery in Bloomsburg is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it is a game-changer for first-time renters. Many local hosts will drive the RV directly to nearby campgrounds like Indian Head Campground or Knoebels Campground, or even your driveway. They will level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system, from the propane stove to the awning. Use the Delivery filter when searching and check each host's delivery radius. Pro tip: for Bloomsburg Fair week in late September, book delivery early since local hosts get fully reserved months in advance.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Bloomsburg,PennsylvaniaHow far can I drive on a Bloomsburg RV trip?
You will have plenty of range for a great Bloomsburg RV trip. Many hosts on RVezy include 100 to 150 free miles per night, and some offer unlimited mileage options or extra-mile packages you can add at checkout. That is more than enough to reach Ricketts Glen State Park (about 30 miles north), Knoebels in Elysburg (about 15 miles south), Worlds End State Park (around 45 miles), or even a weekend run to the Pocono Mountains (about 75 miles east). Planning a bigger RV road trip from Bloomsburg to Niagara Falls or Washington, D.C.? Filter for RV rental with unlimited mileage to keep the budget predictable. Always confirm the mileage policy on the listing before you book.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Bloomsburg,PennsylvaniaWhere are the best campgrounds near Bloomsburg, PA?
The best campgrounds near Bloomsburg cover everything from riverfront simplicity to full-resort fun. Indian Head Campground at the junction of Fishing Creek and the Susquehanna is big-rig friendly with full hookups. Knoebels Campground in Elysburg puts you right next to the amusement park with electric sites and family-friendly amenities. For a more wild experience, Ricketts Glen State Park offers waterfalls and Lake Jean about 30 minutes north, with electric hookups at most sites. RV camping Bloomsburg style means booking early, especially anywhere within 20 miles of the fairgrounds in September.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/where-to-go/state-parks/find-a-park/ricketts-glen-state-park.htmlWhen is the best time to visit Bloomsburg in an RV?
Late spring through mid-fall is the sweet spot for a Bloomsburg RV trip. May and June bring warm days typically in the 70s with blooming Susquehanna Valley scenery and fewer crowds. July and August are prime swimming and Knoebels weather, with highs usually in the mid-80s. September is legendary for the Bloomsburg Fair (one of the largest fairs in the country, last week of September), and October delivers spectacular fall foliage with crisp 50 to 60 degree afternoons. Winters dip into the 20s and 30s with snow, so most private campgrounds close from mid-October to mid-April. For shoulder-season magic without the crowds, aim for the first three weeks of June.
weather.gov/ctp/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay?
You will be more than okay, and Bloomsburg is one of the friendlier places to be a first-time renter. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup, covering driving, leveling, hookups, dumping, and the propane system. You will also have 24/7 roadside assistance included with your protection plan and direct host messaging if anything pops up mid-trip. Bloomsburg's roads are forgiving: U.S. Route 11 is wide and flat along the river, and Interstate 80 runs right past town for easy highway driving. Start with two nights at a close-by spot like Indian Head Campground before tackling Ricketts Glen's mountain climb. By night two, you will feel like a pro.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?
You are covered. Every RV rental on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on Route 487 heading to Ricketts Glen or a dead battery at Knoebels Campground is a phone call away from help. Roadside assistance can handle tows, jump-starts, tire changes, lockouts, and fuel delivery. Your host is also just a message away through the RVezy app for quick troubleshooting (sometimes it is just a tripped GFCI). Service centers in Bloomsburg, Danville, and Wilkes-Barre are all within about 30 minutes. Drive easy and enjoy the trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are good RV road trips from Bloomsburg, PA?
Bloomsburg sits in a sweet geographic spot for an RV road trip. Head about 30 miles north to Ricketts Glen State Park for waterfalls along the Falls Trail. Drive 75 miles east into the Pocono Mountains for lakes and summer fun. Niagara Falls is roughly a 4.5-hour, 240-mile drive north for a classic family RV trip from Bloomsburg. Washington, D.C. sits roughly 200 miles south, while Gettysburg is about 130 miles southwest for Civil War history. Cross-border travel into Canada is allowed by many hosts (confirm in advance), but travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: I-80 west takes you to State College and Penn State country in under 2 hours.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Pages/default.aspxWhat should I budget for fuel on a Bloomsburg RV trip?
Fuel is one of the more predictable parts of your trip. Class C motorhomes around Bloomsburg average 8 to 10 miles per gallon, campervans pull 16 to 20 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 14 mpg towing). Pennsylvania gas prices typically run a touch above the national average due to state fuel tax. For a 3-night loop hitting Knoebels and Ricketts Glen (about 120 miles total), budget roughly $50 to $80 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: fill up just off Interstate 80 at the Buckhorn exit before heading into the mountains. In-town prices usually beat highway truck-stop rates.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Bloomsburg?
For most weekends, 4 to 6 weeks ahead is plenty. Bloomsburg has two big exceptions to know. The Bloomsburg Fair (last week of September) sells out nearby campgrounds many months in advance, so book early in the year for September. Ricketts Glen State Park campsites open on Pennsylvania's reservation system up to 11 months out through the DCNR reservation portal, and the lakeside sites disappear quickly after release. For Knoebels Campground, reserve directly through their site by early spring. Private campgrounds like Indian Head can usually be booked 2 to 4 weeks out for summer weekdays. Pro tip: midweek stays outside fair season rarely sell out.
pennsylvaniastateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are driving conditions like around Bloomsburg?
Driving conditions around Bloomsburg are RV-friendly most of the year. Interstate 80 runs east-west right next to town with wide lanes and gentle grades, and U.S. Route 11 along the Susquehanna River is flat and scenic. One stretch to know: Pennsylvania Route 487 climbing up to Ricketts Glen has a steep grade with restrictions for heavy trucks and large RVs. If you are driving anything over 30 feet, approach Ricketts Glen via PA Route 118 from the south instead. Winter brings snow and ice from December through March, so most renters stick to April through October. Summer thunderstorms can be heavy but pass quickly. Easy, low-stress driving overall.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Pages/default.aspxWhat hookups and amenities do Bloomsburg campgrounds offer?
Bloomsburg-area campgrounds are well-equipped for any RV camping Bloomsburg trip. Most private parks like Indian Head Campground offer full hookups (30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer) at the site, plus dump stations, potable water fill stations, hot showers, and laundry. Knoebels Campground has electric at every site with shared water and a central dump station. Ricketts Glen State Park provides electric hookups at most sites with a dump station and water fill at the entrance, though no individual sewer hookups. Wi-Fi is hit-or-miss outside town, and cell signal weakens around Ricketts Glen. Pro tip: top off water and dump tanks before heading to any state park.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/where-to-go/state-parks/find-a-park/ricketts-glen-state-park.htmlWhat's inside a typical RV rental in Bloomsburg?
You will be living comfortably. A typical motorhome rental in Bloomsburg on RVezy comes with a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with toilet and shower, sleeping for 4 to 8 depending on the floorplan, climate control with AC and a furnace, and seatbelted seats for travel. Many include a TV, outdoor speakers, and a power awning. Class B campervan rental Bloomsburg options trade size for fuel economy and easier parking. Generators are common in Class C and Class A units (handy at no-hookup sites), and most travel trailers include propane heat for shoulder-season comfort. Check each listing's amenity list, and message the host if you need something specific like a Wi-Fi hotspot or kid-friendly setup.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Bloomsburg,PennsylvaniaWhat add-ons can I get with my Bloomsburg RV rental?
Hosts on RVezy offer many add-ons to make your trip easier. Common extras include delivery and setup (great for Bloomsburg Fair or Knoebels trips), camp chairs and outdoor table packages, kitchen kits with dishes and cookware, linen and bedding bundles, generators, bike racks, Wi-Fi hotspots, and propane refills. Pickup and dropoff times are set by the host (usually flexible within a window), and the mileage policy is listed clearly before booking. Many local hosts include 100 to 150 free miles per night with reasonable per-mile rates for overages, and some offer unlimited mileage for longer trips. Pro tip: bundle delivery plus a kitchen kit so you arrive at Indian Head Campground with nothing to unpack but groceries.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Bloomsburg,PennsylvaniaHow does the security deposit and payment work?
Payment is simple and secure on RVezy. You pay through the platform with a credit card at booking, never directly to the host. A refundable security deposit is held separately from the booking payment (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) and released after your trip once the host confirms the RV is returned in good shape. To avoid any deposit issues for your RV rental in Pennsylvania, take date-stamped walkthrough photos at pickup and dropoff, return with the tanks at the level the host specified, and refuel to the same level. The protection plan you select also limits your out-of-pocket exposure for accidental damage. Easy, transparent, and built to protect both you and the host.
