Campgrounds and RV parks near Bressler, PA

Hersheypark is the anchor attraction. Guests staying at Hersheypark Camping Resort get free front-gate shuttle service to Hersheypark plus extra evening hours through the Preview Plan benefit, which helps families skip parking hassles. ZooAmerica, Hershey Gardens, and The Hershey Story Museum round out the in-town options. Harrisburg proper adds the Pennsylvania State Capitol, the National Civil War Museum, and Susquehanna riverfront trails. Day trips reach Gettysburg National Military Park and Lancaster County in under an hour. At Gifford Pinchot State Park, boating, fishing, disc golf, hiking, picnicking, and swimming are the summer draws. The park offers over 18 miles of hiking trails, with blue blazes marking a segment of the roughly 200-mile Mason-Dixon Trail.

The main Pennsylvania State Parks camping season runs mid-April through late October. At Gifford Pinchot, the campground opens in mid-April and closes in late October, reservations are handled through ReserveAmerica on the Pennsylvania State Parks system, and campers may stay up to 14 consecutive nights from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Hunting is permitted in designated areas from late autumn through winter, and hikers are advised to wear fluorescent colors. A phased shower-house renovation is underway at the campground, so some loops may be temporarily closed while others remain open. Private parks around Bressler run longer schedules. Harrisburg East Campground is open 365 days a year, with the office closed on New Year's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, and its pool operates from Memorial Day to September 15. Hersheypark Camping Resort is a year-round camping facility, though once temperatures drop below 30°F over three consecutive days water is shut off for the season, with the Historic Landis Barn bathhouse and the 2-Bedroom Deluxe Cabins keeping water year-round. Summer weekends and Hersheypark event dates fill first; shoulder-season weeknights in May, September, and October are the easiest bookings.

Sites near Bressler skew toward developed RV parks with full hook-ups rather than remote backcountry. At Gifford Pinchot, all sites have macadam pads that can accommodate equipment from tents to large motorhomes, many sites offer electric hook-ups, a limited number of full-service sites include water and sewer, modern bathhouses have flush toilets and hot showers, and a dump station is available. Harrisburg East Campground is a highway-adjacent stopover park with gravel pull-through sites, full hook-ups, a seasonal pool, and laundry; expect some road noise from nearby I-283 and Harrisburg International Airport. Hersheypark Camping Resort is larger and family-oriented, with playgrounds, an indoor game room, and a seasonal shuttle to the theme park. Cell coverage is generally strong across all locations. Firewood should be bought locally, as Pennsylvania restricts the movement of firewood to slow the spread of the spotted lanternfly and other invasive pests.
