Campgrounds and RV parks near Bristol, PA

Bristol sits on the Delaware River in Bucks County, roughly midway between Philadelphia and Trenton. RV travelers use it as a launch point for the Delaware Valley: historic river towns on the Pennsylvania side, the New Jersey Pinelands to the east, and the shore parks along the lower Delaware. Interstate 95 runs directly through town, which makes access from the northeast corridor straightforward. The closest overnight options for RVs are mostly across the river in New Jersey. Washington Crossing State Park is located along the Delaware River, just eight miles north of Trenton, and further east the New Jersey State Park Service operates campgrounds inside Wharton State Forest, including Atsion Recreation Area at the northern end of the Pine Barrens, and Brendan T. Byrne State Forest, at just over 38,000 acres the second largest state forest, located in the pine barrens. Private resorts fill in the gaps. Timberland Lake Campground and Crystal Springs Wilderness Lodges and RV Resort sit within short reach of Six Flags Great Adventure and the Jersey Shore.

New Jersey state parks and forests all funnel through one system. Online reservations can be made at camping.nj.gov, which covers Atsion Recreation Area within Wharton State Forest and Brendan T. Byrne State Forest. Reservations can be made anywhere from 2 days to a year in advance of your trip and require a minimum of a two-night stay, with a maximum stay of 14 days. Pennsylvania State Parks use a separate ReserveAmerica portal. For the historic park on the Pennsylvania side of the river, reservations must be made 3 days ahead of arrival and can be made up to 11 months in advance. Private resorts including Timberland Lake Campground and Crystal Springs Wilderness Lodges and RV Resort book directly through their own websites or by phone. Summer weekends and any date near a Six Flags event tend to sell out early.
