Campgrounds and RV parks near Bryn Mawr, PA

Valley Forge National Historical Park is the biggest outdoor draw within thirty minutes, with paved trails, ranger programs, and the Schuylkill River Trail running through it. Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square and the Brandywine Valley museums are an easy day trip southwest. For family camping days, Boulder Woods Campground has three swimming pools open Memorial Day through Labor Day, a free 19-hole disc golf course, a catch-and-release fishing lake with no license required, and themed activity weekends. Lake Kandle offers supervised swimming at its spring-fed lake, an activity pool, and an Olympic-size pool, with boating limited to non-gas motors. Center City Philadelphia is reachable via SEPTA regional rail from Bryn Mawr station. Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, the Philadelphia Zoo, and the Please Touch Museum in Fairmount Park all work well as a car-free day out from any of the nearby campgrounds.

Camping in the Philadelphia region runs on a clear spring to fall rhythm. Boulder Woods Campground publishes a camping season of April 1 through October 31, and Lake Kandle operates from the last Friday of April through the first Sunday of October, so winter arrivals need to focus on the year-round parks. Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday closes during the winter months and typically reopens in April, with exact dates varying year to year. Holiday weekends, including Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, and the two Halloween weekends at Boulder Woods, fill first and carry minimum-stay requirements. Summer is peak: hot, humid, and busy, with June through August bringing frequent afternoon thunderstorms. Spring and early fall are the most comfortable stretches for RV travel, with cooler nights, lower humidity, and easier last-minute availability. Fall foliage in Chester and northern Montgomery counties peaks in mid to late October. Winter camping options near Bryn Mawr are limited, and travelers should confirm the park is open before booking.

Expect suburban and semi-rural campgrounds rather than wilderness. Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday is a compact, big-rig friendly park with paved roads, full hookups up to 50 amp, staff-escorted arrivals by golf cart, and a mix of transient and seasonal renters. Boulder Woods Campground spreads across roughly 208 wooded, boulder-strewn sites in Green Lane with multiple bathhouses, three pools, a camp store and deli, and a catch-and-release lake. It accepts big rigs and offers pull-throughs with 30 and 50 amp service, though tight interior roads can slow maneuvering. Lake Kandle is RV, motorhome, and pop-up only, with no tents and no pets, and focuses on its swim club and lake. Cell service is generally strong across the region. Traffic on I-95, I-476, and the Schuylkill Expressway is heavy on weekday mornings and Friday afternoons, so plan arrivals and departures outside rush hour.
