For public-land camping, French Creek State Park covers 7,730 acres in the Schuylkill Highlands and is the largest block of contiguous forest between Washington D.C. and New York City. It lies about a 30-minute drive north of Caln and functions as the main state-park option for the region.

How to book a campground near Caln
For French Creek State Park, reservations are made through the Pennsylvania State Parks website. Reservations must be made 3 days ahead of arrival and can be made up to 11 months in advance. The park has 226 campsites, including cabins, yurts, and cottages. Phone booking is available by calling 888-PA-PARKS (888-727-2757), Monday through Saturday, from 7:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M.
Private campgrounds such as Brandywine Creek Campground, Philadelphia / West Chester KOA Holiday, and Birchview Farm Campground take reservations directly through their own websites or the KOA booking system. What to expect
Sites in the Caln area range from wooded state-park loops to open farm fields and full-hookup private parks. At French Creek State Park, the large campground has modern campsites with electric, non-electric, full-hookup, and pet-friendly options, along with camping cottages, yurts, glamping sites, a sanitary dump station, playground, and modern shower houses.
Standard state-park rules apply: alcohol is prohibited in all Pennsylvania state parks including French Creek, quiet hours must be respected (usually from 9 PM to 8 AM), and pets are permitted on designated campsites with some restrictions. Due to the threat of invasive insects and diseases, campers are not allowed to bring their own firewood; firewood can be purchased within the park.
Cell coverage is generally reliable throughout Chester County. Big-rig access is easiest at the KOA and Brandywine Creek locations; smaller farm campgrounds may have tighter interior roads.
