Winter is quiet at the state park, though ice fishing, ice boating, cross-country skiing, and ice skating are popular when conditions allow. King's Campground and Walmar Manor Campground accept reservations by phone or through their listings on standard RV-park booking platforms.
What to expect on-site
Harrisburg East Campground offers full hookup sites with 30 and 50 amp service, water, sewer, tree-shaded pull-throughs and back-ins, a seasonal pool, laundry, a dump station, propane, and a playground. Highway noise from nearby I-283 is a common trade-off for the central location.

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Camp Hill, PA?
RV rental in Camp Hill is one of the most affordable ways to explore south-central Pennsylvania. On RVezy, you'll generally find travel trailers starting around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes between $175 and $275, and larger Class A rigs from $250 and up. Booking midweek or in the shoulder seasons of April, May, September, and October usually unlocks the cheapest RV rental Camp Hill has to offer. For extra savings, search travel trailers if you already have a tow vehicle, or filter for hosts with included generator hours. Pro tip: many Camp Hill owners drop their nightly rates for stays of five nights or longer, so a week-long Susquehanna Valley loop can be a real bargain.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Camp%20Hill%2C%20PennsylvaniaDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Camp Hill?
Good news: for virtually every RV you'll rent in Camp Hill, your regular driver's license is all you need. Pennsylvania only requires a non-commercial Class B license when a single motorhome exceeds 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), and almost every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, travel trailer, and fifth wheel on RVezy falls comfortably under that limit. You'll also need to be at least 25 years old to book, and RVezy verifies your ID right inside the app, so there's no paperwork shuffle at pickup. Visiting from abroad? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your home license and you're set to rent an RV in Camp Hill.
pa.gov/agencies/penndot/driver-vehicle-services/driver-services/driver-licensing.htmlWhat protection comes with my Camp Hill RV rental?
Every RV rental in Camp Hill booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Route 15 or I-81 with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers most physical damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose your coverage level during checkout, not the host, so you're in control of how much protection you want. Roadside assistance is included with every plan and covers common issues like flat tires, lockouts, and towing. First time renting an RV? That safety net is a big part of why families feel confident booking a Pennsylvania road trip on RVezy.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Camp Hill RV trip?
Plans change, and RVezy is built to be flexible. RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy, which includes a money-back grace period right after booking so you can lock in your dates without stress. The specific terms depend on how far out your trip is and the plan you select at checkout. You'll see your full cancellation details in your booking confirmation and account dashboard, and if a host ever cancels on you, RVezy provides a refund or travel credit. The bottom line: booking your campervan rental Camp Hill adventure today is low risk, and our support team is one tap away if life gets in the way.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Camp Hill RV rental?
Absolutely, a pet-friendly RV rental in Camp Hill is easy to put together. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see motorhomes and trailers from hosts who welcome four-legged co-pilots. Once you're on the road, Gifford Pinchot State Park, Pine Grove Furnace State Park, and Cowans Gap State Park all welcome leashed pets in designated areas, and the trails around Wildwood Park in Harrisburg are shaded and leash-friendly. Message your host before booking with your pet's size and breed so they can prep the RV. Pro tip: pack a long line and a collapsible water bowl for the Appalachian Trail crossings just north of Carlisle.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/what-to-do/stay-overnight/pets-in-campgrounds.htmlCan the RV be delivered to me in Camp Hill?
Yes, RV delivery in Camp Hill is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters. Many local hosts will drive the motorhome straight to your campsite, driveway, or a tailgate spot near Hersheypark, then level it, hook up utilities, and walk you through every system before they leave. Just use the Delivery filter when you search, then message the host with your destination so they can quote the fee, which is usually based on round-trip mileage. This is a fantastic way to skip the learning curve of driving a big rig through downtown Harrisburg traffic and jump straight into vacation mode.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106594-Delivery-options-and-feesHow does mileage work and how far can I realistically travel from Camp Hill?
Every host on RVezy sets their own mileage policy, and you'll see it clearly on the listing before you book, including options for RV rental with unlimited mileage if you're planning a bigger loop. From Camp Hill, Gettysburg is about 35 miles south, Hershey is 25 miles east, Lancaster's Amish Country sits 55 miles southeast, the Pocono Mountains are roughly 130 miles northeast, and Washington, DC is just 130 miles down I-83 and I-95. If you're plotting a multi-state RV road trip from Camp Hill toward Niagara Falls or the Outer Banks, message the host before booking and ask about a higher mileage cap. Most are happy to bundle extra miles into a custom quote.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Pages/default.aspxWhere are the best campgrounds near Camp Hill for an RV?
You're spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping near Camp Hill. Gifford Pinchot State Park, about 20 miles south in York County, has hundreds of sites around 340-acre Pinchot Lake with electric hookup options. Colonel Denning State Park offers quieter, wooded sites under an hour west. For a private RV park, Harrisburg East Campground in Harrisburg has full hookups, a pool, and pull-through sites about 10 minutes from Camp Hill. Pro tip: lakeside loops at Gifford Pinchot book out fastest, so reserve early.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/where-to-go/state-parks/find-a-park/gifford-pinchot-state-park.htmlWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Camp Hill?
Camp Hill is genuinely a three-season RV paradise, with the sweet spot running from late April through late October. May and June bring lush green hills and highs in the 70s, July and August warm into the mid 80s with humid evenings perfect for campfire ice cream, and September and October deliver some of the East Coast's best fall foliage along the Cumberland Valley and South Mountain. Most Pennsylvania state park campgrounds, including Gifford Pinchot, open in mid-April and close in late October. For a quieter Camp Hill RV trip with cheaper nightly rates, target the shoulder weeks just after Labor Day, when the leaves start turning and campgrounds breathe.
weather.gov/ctp/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay?
You've got this, and Camp Hill is a forgiving place to learn. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup, covering driving tips, hookups, leveling, the generator, and waste tanks, so you're not figuring anything out alone. The Cumberland Valley's flat, well-marked roads and the wide shoulders on Route 15 and Route 581 make for a comfortable first drive, and you can avoid downtown Harrisburg by sticking to the Carlisle Pike or the Route 581 bypass. If you'd rather skip driving altogether your first time, choose RV delivery and have the host bring your motorhome rental Camp Hill straight to the campsite. Their cell number stays with you the whole trip.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Safety/TrafficSafetyAndDriverTopics/Pages/default.aspxWhat if something goes wrong on the road?
You're never alone out there. Every booking on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering common issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing across Pennsylvania and beyond. Your host is also just a message away in the RVezy app, and most Camp Hill hosts answer quickly because they live nearby in places like Mechanicsburg, Carlisle, and Lemoyne. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip too. Pro tip: snap a quick photo of the RV's VIN and license plate before you pull away from pickup, it makes any service call faster if you're parked somewhere like Michaux State Forest with limited signage.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Camp Hill RV rental into other states or across the Canadian border?
Yes, multi-state RV road trips from Camp Hill are wide open. You're perfectly positioned to cross into Maryland in under an hour, New Jersey in about 2.5 hours, New York in roughly 3 hours, and West Virginia in around 2 hours, all on excellent interstates like I-81, I-83, and I-78. Cross-border trips to Canada may be allowed depending on the host and the insurance terms, so message the host directly from the listing before you book if Niagara Falls or Toronto is on the itinerary. One firm rule: travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there. Popular routes include Camp Hill to Acadia, the Outer Banks, and the Finger Lakes.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I expect?
Realistic numbers help you plan a confident budget. Class B campervans around Camp Hill typically get 17 to 22 miles per gallon (MPG), Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A rigs land between 6 and 10 MPG. Pennsylvania gas prices tend to run a bit higher than the national average because of state fuel taxes, so check stations along Route 11 and the Carlisle Pike, which often beat Turnpike prices. For a sample three-night Camp Hill to Lancaster County loop of about 200 miles, expect roughly $80 to $150 in fuel for most motorhomes. Pro tip: fill up before heading onto the Pennsylvania Turnpike, where service-plaza fuel is convenient but pricier.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book my campground?
Lock in your campsite early and your Camp Hill RV trip basically plans itself. Pennsylvania state parks open reservations 11 months in advance at noon Eastern Time through the official DCNR reservation system, and lakefront loops at Gifford Pinchot and Pine Grove Furnace fill quickly for summer weekends and fall foliage. For private parks like Harrisburg East Campground or Western Village RV Park in Carlisle, three to four weeks ahead is usually plenty outside of major events. If you're aiming for a Hersheypark weekend or the Carlisle Car Shows in spring and fall, book your RV and campsite at least two months out. Pro tip: midweek arrivals almost always have openings, even last minute.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/what-to-do/stay-overnight/rv-and-tent-campsitesWhat are the local driving conditions like around Camp Hill?
Driving an RV around Camp Hill is refreshingly straightforward. The town sits in the flat Cumberland Valley right across the Susquehanna River from Harrisburg, with wide, modern highways like I-81, I-83, US 11, and US 15 connecting you to almost everything. Avoid the older, narrow Market Street Bridge into Harrisburg with taller rigs and use the I-83 South Bridge instead, which has full clearance. Watch for occasional summer thunderstorms that can pop up over South Mountain in the afternoon, and slow down for autumn leaves on twisty Route 233 through Michaux State Forest. Winter brings occasional snow, so check 511PA before driving December through March.

Common extras include camping chairs and tables, bedding and linen packages, kitchen kits, bike racks, propane fills, generator hour bundles, and Wi-Fi hotspots, with delivery and setup available from many local hosts. visitcumberlandvalley.com/things-to-do/biking/cumberland-valley-rail-trail/How does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple, secure, and handled entirely inside RVezy, so you never hand cash or a card to the host. Your trip total is charged through the platform, and a refundable security deposit is authorized separately during your trip in case of damage or extra cleaning. As long as you return the RV in the condition you got it, with the tanks and fuel handled per the listing, the deposit is released back to you after dropoff. To avoid any surprises, walk through the RV with the host at pickup and again at return, snap photos of the interior, exterior, and mileage, and follow the host's cleaning checklist. That's the easiest way to keep your Camp Hill RV trip stress-free.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Camp Hill during the winter?
Yes, winter RV rentals around Camp Hill are absolutely possible, and they can be magical. While most Pennsylvania state park campgrounds close in late October, private parks like Harrisburg East and several full-hookup sites stay open year-round, and a winter trip to a snowy Gettysburg or the Pocono ski areas can be unforgettable. Look for RVs listed with heated holding tanks, an enclosed underbelly, a strong furnace, and shore power capability so you can plug in at 30 or 50 amps and stay toasty when temperatures dip into the 20s. Pro tip: ask your host for an antifreeze top-off and bring an insulated water hose, and you'll be sipping coffee while snow falls over the Cumberland Valley.
