The public camping season in this part of Pennsylvania is tied to state park schedules. At Lackawanna State Park, the campground opens the second Friday in April and closes October 14, which frames the practical RV season for the area. Shoulder months, April and October, bring cold nights and the chance of frost, so heaters and freshwater-line precautions matter. Summer is the busiest window. Weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day fill fastest, especially loops with electric hookups and sites near the lake and pool. Weekday arrivals are noticeably easier to secure. Summers are warm and wet, winters are freezing and snowy, and the region is partly cloudy year round, so pack rain gear even in July. Fall brings cooler nights, thinner crowds, and strong foliage color through October.
