RV camping near Easton, Pennsylvania
Easton sits at the confluence of the Delaware and Lehigh rivers in the Lehigh Valley, on the eastern edge of Pennsylvania and directly across from New Jersey. The city is a practical base for RV travelers heading to Bucks County, the Delaware Water Gap, and the western fringe of the Poconos, with most private campgrounds within a 20 to 40 minute drive south or west of town.
The closest options cluster in wooded hills near the Delaware River. Ringing Rocks Family Campground and Colonial Woods Family Resort are both located in Upper Black Eddy, minutes from the river and Ringing Rocks County Park. Mountainview Campground, Beaver Valley Campgrounds, and Evergreen Lake Campground extend the choices further into rural Bucks and Northampton counties, adding lake and creek settings to the mix.
Expect a mix of seasonal sites, transient RV pads with 30 and 50 amp hookups, and family-oriented amenities such as pools, playgrounds, and stocked ponds. The area suits travelers who want river recreation and small-town day trips rather than backcountry solitude.
Things to do near Easton
The Delaware River drives most outdoor plans. Tubing, kayaking, and fly fishing are popular from late spring through early fall, and several outfitters near Upper Black Eddy shuttle paddlers back to their vehicles. Ringing Rocks County Park, minutes from Ringing Rocks Family Campground, offers a short hike to a large boulder field where rocks ring like bells when struck, plus a seasonal waterfall.
In town, Easton anchors family trips with the Crayola Experience, the National Canal Museum, and the Easton Public Market. Delaware Canal State Park runs along the river and provides a long, flat towpath ideal for biking with kids.
For day drives, Nockamixon State Park (boating and hiking), New Hope, and the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area are all within roughly an hour.

Most private campgrounds in the Easton area operate on a seasonal calendar, typically opening in April and closing in late October. Ringing Rocks Family Campground follows this pattern, and other nearby parks such as Colonial Woods Family Resort, Mountainview Campground, Beaver Valley Campgrounds, and Evergreen Lake Campground generally do the same. RV travelers planning shoulder-season trips should confirm opening dates directly with each park, since pool and store hours often shrink in April and October.
Summer is peak season. July and August bring the warmest weather, the busiest weekends, and the highest demand for river tubing shuttles. Sites at family resorts commonly book up well ahead for the Fourth of July, Labor Day, and any weekend with themed events such as Halloween-in-summer or holiday-in-July.
Spring and fall are quieter and better for hiking and cycling. Winter camping is limited in the area; travelers who want cold-weather stays generally look to Pennsylvania state parks with year-round or cabin availability rather than the private resorts near Easton.

Great weekend getaway!
Kami A. - Nov 2024
Great vehicle and friendly owners. This compact camper has a lot of creature comforts while allowing one to maneuver and park in regular parking lots. The van is really easy to drive and handles really nice. The beds were comfortable and IMO accommodate 2 adults (top bed) and 1 adult or 2 kids in the lower bed. We were able to use the bike rack, too, and that worked great for a road bike and mountain bike (I think 2 mountain bikes might not fit unless the handle bars were turned on 1 of them). We didn't use the, generator, heater, hot water, shower, sink, microwave or toilet so I can't comment on them but I wish we rented it longer so we could've taken advantage of all this van has to offer. We would absolutely rent again.

Great holiday weekend in Dalton's camper! He was an amazing host, and everything was as described. We had the camper delivered and picked up by Mike, who was also awesome! Thanks for a great weekend!
Stephanie H. - Sep 2026
Dalton's Jayco is the perfect option for a small family. There's plenty of sleeping options for the kids, and the tub is a great bonus for bath time. The camper is well maintained and everything was functional. Delivery and pick up to the site went smoothly. We're hoping it's available next year too!

How to book campgrounds near Easton
Private campgrounds near Easton, including Ringing Rocks Family Campground and Colonial Woods Family Resort, take reservations directly through their own websites and through platforms such as Campspot. For summer weekends and holidays, booking eight to twelve weeks ahead is a safe target; themed event weekends can sell out earlier.
Pennsylvania state parks use a separate system. Reservations at DCNR-operated campgrounds can be made up to 11 months in advance, with new inventory released at noon Eastern Time on the state reservation website or by calling 888-PA-PARKS. There are no entrance fees at Pennsylvania state parks, though camping fees and a transaction fee apply.
When booking an RV site, confirm site length, amp service (30 or 50), whether sewer is on site or dump-station only, and any pet or extra-vehicle rules before paying.
What to expect on the ground
The terrain around Easton is rolling and wooded, with narrow country roads leading to many of the campgrounds. Drivers of larger rigs should plan approaches carefully; the Frenchtown bridge over the Delaware is notably narrow, and the Milford crossing is often the better route to Upper Black Eddy. Low-hanging branches and tight interior roads are common at older family campgrounds.
Expect a strong seasonal-camper presence at parks like Colonial Woods Family Resort and Ringing Rocks Family Campground, which creates a community atmosphere but can mean transient sites are mixed in among long-term setups. Family amenities such as pools, playgrounds, mini-golf, and scheduled activities are standard.
Cell service is generally usable but not always strong in the wooded hills, and Wi-Fi at private campgrounds is often concentrated near the office or clubhouse rather than at individual sites.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Easton,PennsylvaniaDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Easton, PA?
Good news: your standard Pennsylvania driver's license (or any valid US/Canadian license) is all you need to rent an RV in Easton. PennDOT does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for personal RV use, even for larger Class A motorhomes under 26,000 pounds, which covers virtually every rig on RVezy. Approved drivers on RVezy are generally 25 or older, and your ID is verified through the platform before pickup. International visitors should bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) from their home country. That's it, no endorsements, no road tests, no surprises. Most first-time renters are amazed how simple the Easton RV rental process really is.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat protection is included when I rent an RV in Easton?
Every RVezy booking in Easton comes with a built-in renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Route 22 or I-78 with real peace of mind. The protection plan helps cover damage to the vehicle during your trip, which is a huge weight off your shoulders, especially for first-timers navigating the Lehigh Valley's hills. During checkout, you'll choose the coverage level that fits your trip. RVezy offers tiered plans so you can scale protection up for longer Pocono trips or keep it lean for a quick weekend at Driftstone Campground. It delivers serious financial protection and stress-free camping for your Easton RV trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat's the cancellation policy if my Easton RV trip plans change?
Life happens, and RVezy has you covered with a cancellation policy that includes a full money-back grace period after booking, so there's very little risk in locking in your Easton RV rental early. The exact refund depends on how far out you cancel from your trip start date, and natural disasters or major weather events (think a Nor'easter rolling through the Lehigh Valley in March) are handled with extra flexibility. RVezy, not the host, sets and manages this policy, so you'll get consistent treatment no matter which listing you book. Bottom line: reserve that perfect Class C for your Delaware Water Gap adventure now, you have room to adjust later.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an Easton, PA RV rental?
Absolutely, and you'll have plenty of options. Filter for pet-friendly RV rental Easton listings on RVezy and you'll find dozens of hosts who welcome dogs (some allow cats too). Hosts set their own pet rules and may charge a small cleaning fee, which is shown upfront before you book. Once you're rolling, Easton is genuinely dog-friendly: Hugh Moore Park along the Delaware Canal has leashed trails, Karl Stirner Arts Trail welcomes pups, and most local campgrounds including Driftstone Campground and Ringing Rocks Family Campground in Upper Black Eddy allow dogs on leash. Bring a tie-out, water bowl, and your dog's vaccination records and you're set for a happy tail-wagging trip.
nps.gov/dewa/planyourvisit/pets.htmCan the RV be delivered to my campground or home in Easton?
Yes, RV delivery Easton is one of the most popular add-ons, and it's a game-changer if you're new to towing or just want to skip the driving stress. Many local hosts will deliver your motorhome or travel trailer directly to Hickory Run State Park, Driftstone Campground in Mount Bethel, Ringing Rocks Family Campground, or even your driveway in College Hill or Forks Township. They'll level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. Delivery fees are usually based on mileage from the host's location. Filter by Delivery on RVezy, message your top picks, and confirm the destination and setup details before booking.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/HickoryRunStatePark/Pages/default.aspxHow many miles can I drive on an Easton RV rental?
Mileage policies are set by each host on RVezy, and that's actually great news because you can shop for the policy that fits your trip. Some Easton hosts offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, while others include 100 to 150 free miles per day with a small per-mile fee beyond that (typically $0.30 to $0.45). For reference from Easton: the Pocono Mountains are about 35 miles, Delaware Water Gap is 25 miles, Philadelphia is 60 miles, New York City is 75 miles, and Gettysburg is about 175 miles. Map your route first, then filter listings or message hosts directly to confirm the mileage allowance matches your Easton RV trip plans.

For RV camping Easton newcomers love, Driftstone is the easiest first stop. Book Pennsylvania state parks via the official reservation system below.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/Pages/MakeaReservation.aspxWhen is the best time to take an RV trip from Easton, PA?
Late April through mid-October is prime time for an RV road trip from Easton, with the absolute sweet spot being May, June, September, and early October. July highs hit a warm 83°F with humid afternoons (great for swimming in the Delaware River), while May and September deliver comfortable 65 to 75°F days, fewer bugs, and stunning Lehigh Valley foliage by mid-October. Winter RV camping is possible at year-round campgrounds, but expect lows around 22°F in January and occasional snow, so look for four-season insulated rigs and heated tanks if you're going off-season. Pro tip: the last week of September delivers peak fall colors along the Delaware Water Gap, an unforgettable Easton RV trip backdrop.
weather.gov/phi/I've never driven an RV. Will I be okay renting in Easton?
You'll do great, and you're not alone. Most people renting an RV in Easton are doing it for the first time. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering driving tips, the propane system, slide-outs, water, and waste, so you'll leave confident, not confused. For first time renting an RV nerves, choose a Class C motorhome or campervan rental Easton hosts offer, both drive much like a large van or U-Haul. Stick to wider roads like Route 22, I-78, and Route 33 to start, and avoid downtown Easton's narrow Centre Square until you're comfortable. Want zero driving? Book delivery and let the host set everything up at your campground.
pa.gov/agencies/penndot/driver-vehicle-services.htmlWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?
Take a deep breath, you're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so help is one phone call away whether you're at a rest stop on I-78, parked at Jacobsburg Environmental Education Center, or deep in the Poconos. The roadside team helps with flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, towing, and mechanical breakdowns. You can also message your host directly through the RVezy app: most are local to Easton and know exactly which mechanic or RV service center to recommend in the Lehigh Valley. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after every trip, so you're never figuring things out on your own.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Easton RV rental into other states or Canada?
Yes, interstate travel is welcome and Easton's location makes it a launchpad. Popular runs include New York City (75 miles), the Jersey Shore (90 miles), Washington DC (200 miles), Niagara Falls (340 miles), and the Maine coast (450 miles). Crossing into Canada is possible on some listings but depends on the host and insurance coverage, so message the host before booking to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance won't extend there. Pennsylvania to New Jersey is just a Delaware River bridge crossing from Easton (literally minutes away in Phillipsburg), making cross-state weekend trips ridiculously easy. Confirm your route with the host and you're good to roll.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goWhat should I budget for fuel on an Easton RV trip?
Fuel is usually the second-biggest line item after the rental itself, but it's easy to plan for. Pennsylvania gas typically averages around $3.20 to $3.70 per gallon, with diesel slightly higher. A Class C motorhome typically gets 8 to 10 miles per gallon, a campervan does 15 to 20 MPG, and a travel trailer towed by a truck averages 10 to 14 MPG combined. For a 300-mile Lehigh Valley to Pocono loop, budget roughly $90 to $130 in fuel. Fill up at the bigger Wawa and Pilot stations along Route 22 in Easton or just over the river in Phillipsburg, NJ.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Easton?
For summer weekends (Memorial Day through Labor Day), book Pennsylvania state park campgrounds like Hickory Run, Locust Lake, or Beltzville State Park 4 to 6 months ahead through the official PA State Parks reservation portal. Private campgrounds near Easton such as Driftstone, Ringing Rocks, and Colonial Woods Family Resort fill up 2 to 3 months in advance for July and August. Spring and fall midweek? You can often grab a site 1 to 2 weeks out. Pro tip: PA State Parks open reservations on a rolling 11-month window, so set a calendar reminder, the prime sites at Hickory Run go in minutes when they release.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/Pages/MakeaReservation.aspxWhat are driving conditions like around Easton for an RV?
Easton drives well for RVs once you know the lay of the land. I-78 and Route 22 are the main RV-friendly arteries with plenty of width and gentle grades, perfect for newcomers. Route 33 north toward the Poconos is also smooth sailing. Avoid downtown Easton's Centre Square and the narrow streets around Lafayette College with anything larger than a campervan: the historic district has tight turns and low-hanging tree branches. Always check posted clearances on Delaware River bridges between Easton and Phillipsburg, NJ before crossing in a tall motorhome, and plan an alternate route on I-78 if your rig exceeds the posted height.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Pages/default.aspxWhat amenities do campgrounds near Easton typically offer?
Most campgrounds near Easton are well-equipped for a comfortable RV stay. Private parks like Driftstone Campground and Ringing Rocks Family Campground offer full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, and sewer), hot showers, laundry, Wi-Fi, swimming pools, and camp stores. Pennsylvania state parks like Hickory Run and Locust Lake provide electric hookups at most sites plus a centralized dump station and potable water fill-up, though sewer hookups at individual sites are rare in state parks. For dumping or topping off water in the Easton area, Driftstone and Colonial Woods both sell day-use dump access. Pro tip: always confirm hookup amperage when booking, older sites may only have 20-amp service.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/WhatToDo/Camping/Pages/default.aspxWhat's typically included inside an RV rental from Easton?
RVezy rentals in Easton are road-trip ready. Expect real beds (most rigs sleep 4 to 8), a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, an indoor bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control with heat and AC, dining/lounge seating with seatbelts for travel, and ample storage. Many motorhomes and campervans include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, and a backup camera. Wi-Fi and onboard generators are common in Class A and Class C rigs but vary by listing, just check the amenities tab. Hosts typically include kitchen basics like pots, dishes, and utensils. Bring your own linens unless the host offers a linen package, which many do for a small fee.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Easton,PennsylvaniaWhat add-ons and pickup options are available for Easton RV rentals?
RVezy hosts in Easton offer a menu of helpful add-ons to customize your trip. Common options include delivery and setup (often the most popular), generator hours, linen and towel packages, camping chairs, propane fire pits, kayaks or bikes, and even pre-stocked kitchen kits. Most hosts offer standard pickup at their location in greater Easton, Bethlehem, or Allentown, with afternoon pickup and morning return windows. Mileage policies vary, so check whether the listing offers RV rental with unlimited mileage or a daily allowance with overage fees. Pro tip: bundle delivery, linens, and a propane fire pit for the easiest stress-free first trip, you'll arrive at your campground and everything will already be ready to go.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Easton,PennsylvaniaHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is handled securely through the RVezy platform, so you never hand cash to the host. You'll pay the rental total (nightly rate, selected add-ons, protection plan, and service fee) at booking using a credit or debit card. A refundable security deposit is held separately by RVezy before your trip starts, typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV class and host, and it's released back to your card after the trip wraps up cleanly. To avoid any deposit issues, do a quick walkaround video at pickup and dropoff with your host, return the rig with the agreed fuel and propane levels, and dump the tanks if your host requires it. Easy, transparent, no surprises.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksIs winter RV camping possible near Easton, PA?
Yes, winter RV camping near Easton is absolutely doable and surprisingly magical, think snowy hikes at Jacobsburg Environmental Education Center and steam rising off the Delaware River at sunrise. January lows average around 22F with occasional dips into the single digits, so look specifically for four-season RVezy listings with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and dual-pane windows. Several private parks in the Poconos stay open year-round with winter electric hookups. Pack extra propane (you'll burn through it faster in cold weather), use a heated water hose, and confirm with your host that the rig is winterized for use, not storage. Winter rentals are often cheaper too, a quiet shoulder-season win.
