Campgrounds near Exton, Pennsylvania
Exton sits in Chester County, roughly an hour west of Philadelphia, and serves as a practical hub for RV travelers exploring the Brandywine Valley. The area mixes rolling farmland, historic towns, and forested state parkland, with several campgrounds clustered within a short drive of US 30 and the PA Turnpike.
The closest options range from small, creek-side private parks to a large public campground. Brandywine Creek Campground sits along the trout-stocked East Brandywine Creek in a wooded, tranquil setting with several acres of manicured lawns and a large fishing pond, while the Philadelphia / West Chester KOA Holiday sits along the Brandywine River between Philadelphia, Lancaster, and the Brandywine Valley. French Creek State Park straddles the Schuylkill Highlands and its 7,730-acre expanse is the largest block of contiguous forest between Washington D.C. and New York City.
Smaller family-run options such as Camp Country Center and Birchview Farm Campground round out the choices, giving RV renters a mix of full-hookup private parks and forested state-park sites within about 30 minutes of Exton.
Things to do near Exton
Outdoor activity centers on French Creek State Park and the Brandywine watershed. More than 35 miles of forested trails are open to hikers, bikers, and horseback riders, and the park also has a disc golf course. Boating is permitted on Hopewell Lake and Scotts Run Lake with electric motors only, and anglers can fish for bass, trout, and panfish. Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site, which features a cold blast furnace restored to its 1830s appearance, is surrounded by the park.
Off the trails, the region is packed with family-friendly stops. Brandywine River Valley is America's Garden Capital, home to the mansions and gardens of Longwood, Winterthur, Hagley, and Nemours. Downingtown station offers commuter rail service into Philadelphia center city for a car-free day trip, and Valley Forge National Historical Park is a short drive east.

Camping season in southeastern Pennsylvania runs primarily spring through fall. Brandywine Creek Campground is open seasonally from April 1st to November 1st, and the Philadelphia / West Chester KOA Holiday runs from March 15 through November 30, closing for camping from November 30th until March 15th, though the KOA offers limited self-contained sites outside those dates. At French Creek State Park, the campground opens in early March and closes in early January, with some loops opening in late spring and closing in October, while cabins can be reserved year round.
Summer is the busiest window. Campsites can book up fast, especially during peak season from April through October and on holiday weekends. Humidity climbs from June through August and afternoon thunderstorms are common, so RV renters should plan for shaded sites and adequate hookups.
Fall brings cooler nights and strong foliage color across the Schuylkill Highlands, making forest hikes especially scenic. Winter closes most private parks; state-park cabins remain the reliable cold-weather option.

How to book campgrounds near Exton
Booking rules split cleanly between public and private parks. For French Creek State Park, campsite reservations open 11 months in advance, and all sites must be reserved a minimum of three days in advance. Reservations for day use and overnight facilities can be made online or by calling toll-free 888-PA-PARKS (888-727-2757), from 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday to Saturday. All 226 campsites, including cabins, yurts, and cottages, are bookable through the Pennsylvania State Parks website.
Private parks such as Brandywine Creek Campground and the Philadelphia / West Chester KOA Holiday take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. For holiday weekends and peak summer dates, book several months out. Firewood should not be brought in from outside the region because of invasive insect concerns; buy it locally or at the park.
What to expect on the ground
Expect a mix of wooded state-park sites and smaller family-run private parks. French Creek offers over 60 sites with electric hookups, including 14 with full hookups, and amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers, and a dump station. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in all Pennsylvania state parks, pets are permitted at designated campsites, and quiet hours run between 9:00 PM and 8:00 AM.
Access roads to the smaller creek-side parks can be tight. At Brandywine Creek Campground, the last half-mile of the road into the campground is narrow with some tight curves, which requires careful navigation for larger rigs.
French Creek State Park does not provide wifi for campers, though some nearby private campgrounds may offer wifi as an amenity. Cell service is unpredictable in and around many Pennsylvania state parks, so download the park map before arrival.

Yes, RV delivery Exton is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it is a game-changer for first-time renters. Many local hosts will drive a travel trailer or motorhome straight to your driveway, a Chester County campground like Brandywine Creek Campground in Lyndell, or directly to a site at French Creek State Park in Elverson, then level it, hook up utilities, and walk you through every system. Delivery fees are usually based on mileage from the host's location. Pro tip: if you are nervous about towing on the Schuylkill Expressway or PA Route 30, delivery means you never have to drive the rig yourself.

You are never on your own. For anything bigger, RVezy customer support is reachable any time. Pro tip: save the roadside number and your host's contact in your phone before pulling out of the driveway, so help is always one tap away.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Exton RV rental across state lines or to Canada?
Yes, an RV road trip from Exton is one of the best ways to explore the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, and most hosts welcome interstate travel. Popular routes include the Jersey Shore (Ocean City, NJ about 110 miles), the Poconos (about 90 miles north), Shenandoah National Park in Virginia (about 180 miles), Niagara Falls (around 380 miles), and even Acadia in Maine for longer trips. Cross-border travel to Canada may be allowed depending on the host and the insurance terms on your specific booking, so confirm with the host before booking. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental. Pro tip: a 7-day loop hitting Lancaster, Gettysburg, and the Poconos is a Pennsylvania classic.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for?
Budgeting fuel for your Chester County trip is easier than you'd think. Class B campervans (great for an Exton campervan rental) typically get 18 to 22 mpg, Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 mpg, and Class A coaches sit around 7 to 10 mpg. Pennsylvania gas prices tend to run slightly above the national average, with stations along US-30 and the PA Turnpike near Exton usually offering the most competitive rates. For a weekend run to French Creek State Park and back (under 50 miles total), even a thirsty Class A only burns a few gallons. eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Exton?
Book early and breathe easy. The best campgrounds near Exton, especially French Creek State Park, open reservations 11 months in advance through the official Pennsylvania State Parks reservation system, and summer weekends genuinely sell out months ahead. Private parks like Philadelphia / West Chester KOA and Brandywine Creek Campground also fill fast for holiday weekends like Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day. Aim to reserve 3 to 6 months out for peak season and 2 to 4 weeks for shoulder season. pennsylvaniastateparks.reserveamerica.com/camping/french-creek-state-park/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=PA&parkId=880406What are driving conditions like around Exton and Chester County?
Driving an RV around Exton is very manageable, even for first-timers. US-30 (Lincoln Highway) and PA-100 are wide, RV-friendly corridors, and the PA Turnpike connects you smoothly to Philadelphia, Lancaster, and Harrisburg. Be aware that some Chester County back roads near French Creek State Park are narrow and winding with low-clearance bridges, so stick to numbered routes with bigger rigs. Philadelphia itself has tight downtown streets and no-RV zones, which is why delivery to a campground is a smart move for city visits. Winter (December through February) can bring snow and ice, so check PennDOT's 511PA travel conditions before heading out. Pro tip: avoid I-76 Schuylkill Expressway during weekday rush hour.

Most parks also have laundry, propane refills, and firewood for sale on site (Pennsylvania state parks prohibit bringing outside firewood due to invasive pests). Pro tip: French Creek's dump station near the campground entrance is free for registered campers, making it your easy last stop before heading back to Exton.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/where-to-go/state-parks/find-a-park/french-creek-state-park/stayWhat's included inside a typical RV rental in Exton?

Most motorhomes and travel trailers on RVezy come with a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with shower and toilet, sleeping for 4 to 8 depending on size, a furnace and air conditioning, fresh/grey/black water tanks, and seatbelted seats for travel. Many hosts include kitchenware, linens, outdoor chairs, and a TV; some offer Wi-Fi hotspots, solar panels, or onboard generators for off-grid stays at places like French Creek State Park. Each listing spells out exactly what's included so there are no surprises. Pro tip: message the host to ask about a starter kit (soap, paper towels, coffee) so you can roll straight to the campground without a Walmart detour.
pa.gov/agencies/dcnr/recreation/where-to-go/state-parks/find-a-park/french-creek-state-parkWhat add-ons and pickup options can I expect from Exton hosts?

Mileage policies vary, with some offering unlimited mileage and others including 100 to 150 miles per day plus a small per-mile fee beyond that. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a generator if you're heading to a no-hookup site at French Creek, and you'll arrive to a fully ready camp.

Payment for your Exton RV trip is simple, secure, and handled entirely through RVezy, so you never hand cash to a host. You pay your booking total by credit or debit card when you reserve, and a refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card shortly before pickup. As long as the rig comes back in the same condition with no policy violations (excess mileage, smoking, etc.), the hold is released after drop-off. Pro tip: do a quick walk-around video at both pickup and return with your host, so a family RV trip Exton stays stress-free and your deposit comes back fast.
