Campgrounds and RV parks near Folsom, PA

Folsom's draw is its proximity to Philadelphia. Renters can drive or take SEPTA into Center City for Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, the museums along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, and Phillies or Eagles games at the South Philadelphia sports complex. The John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum, home to the largest freshwater tidal marsh in Pennsylvania, features nature trails and wildlife watching just minutes from Folsom. On the campground side, on-site amenities keep kids occupied. Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday offers cornhole, horseshoes, ladder ball, a jumping pillow, playground, catch-and-release pond, and an off-leash dog park, while Adventure Bound Tall Pines features a Fun Zone with a splash park, swimming pool, and inflatable water slides. Day-trip range also covers the Jersey Shore, Cowtown Rodeo, and local wineries in Gloucester and Salem counties.

The camping season in the Philadelphia region runs mainly from spring through fall. Several nearby parks close for winter: Old Cedar Campground operates seasonally from mid-April into late October or early November, and Adventure Bound Tall Pines runs a similar spring-through-Halloween schedule, with a popular four-weekend Halloween celebration wrapping up its season. Lake Kandle typically opens in late April and closes in early October, with the lake and swim club as the summer draw. A few properties stay open longer. Four Seasons Campgrounds is open year round, and the Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday also operates year round, making it one of the more reliable options for shoulder-season or holiday travel. Summer weekends fill quickly. Fourth of July, Labor Day, and themed weekends at family resorts book out weeks or months in advance. Spring and fall offer easier availability, cooler nights, and lower humidity, though tent campers should watch overnight lows in April and October. Winter travel is limited to the year-round parks and to hardier RV setups with heated tanks.

Parks in this corridor are suburban and rural rather than wilderness. Expect flat, wooded or open sites, gravel or grass pads, and a mix of long-term seasonal campers alongside weekend visitors. Lake Kandle does not allow tents or pets and skews heavily toward seasonal reservations, so short-stay RV renters should confirm availability before planning around it. Amenities vary. Old Cedar is family-owned and doubles as a working farm with domestic animals, and it offers primitive cabin rentals, a WiFi hotspot, mini golf, a swimming pool, playground, game room, and fishing lakes. Adventure Bound Tall Pines sits on more than 100 wooded acres in the Pine Barrens with a splash park, pool, cabins, and RV rentals. Cell coverage is generally solid across the metro fringe. Traffic on I-95 and the Walt Whitman and Commodore Barry bridges is the main hassle when day-tripping into Philadelphia.
