Campgrounds and RV parks near Goldsboro, PA

The Susquehanna River is the main local draw, with kayaking, canoeing, and small-boat fishing on the lower river reach near Goldsboro. Paddlers should plan around dam hazards downstream, including Harrisburg's Dock Street Dam, and stay aware of river levels before launching. Families typically pair a river day with Hersheypark, ZooAmerica, and Hershey Gardens, all clustered in Hershey. Gifford Pinchot State Park adds boating, water skiing, swimming, and picnicking during the warm season, and ice skating, ice fishing, and ice boating in winter. The park also offers over 18 miles of hiking trails, including a segment of the Mason Dixon Trail. Harrisburg's Riverfront Park and the State Capitol complex are a short drive north.

Camping in the Goldsboro area is strongly seasonal. Most private and state-park campgrounds run from mid-April through late October, tied to Pennsylvania's warm-weather window. Gifford Pinchot has one of Pennsylvania's largest state park campgrounds, with 339 sites arranged around Pinchot Lake, and it operates from mid-April through October. Peak demand runs Memorial Day through Labor Day, with lake-view and full-hookup sites filling first. Spring brings mild days, rising river flows, and fewer crowds, though nights can still drop near freezing in March and early April. Summer is warm, humid, and busy, with afternoon thunderstorms, mosquito activity along the river, and near-full campgrounds on weekends. Fall brings cool nights, strong foliage color through October, and easier last-minute bookings after Labor Day. Winter is the quiet season for outdoor camping, but Hersheypark Camping Resort operates year-round, with more than 300 open and shaded sites, including 50 cabins and two Tiny Homes with heat and air conditioning, full hook-up sites, partial sites, and no-hook-up tent sites, so cold-weather stays are possible with the right rig or a heated cabin.

Grocery, fuel, and dump-station access are easy in Harrisburg, Hershey, and nearby Etters. At Gifford Pinchot, every site has a large macadam pad that can accommodate motorhomes and tents, most sites have electric hookups with a few offering full hookups, and pets are permitted at designated sites. Private RV parks in the area typically add full hookups, pools, and family programming. Expect humidity and mosquitoes in summer, thunderstorms that build fast on hot afternoons, and river levels that can rise quickly after heavy rain. Deer ticks are present, so check after hikes.
