Overview of campgrounds near Hollidaysburg
Hollidaysburg sits in Blair County in central Pennsylvania, tucked between the Allegheny Front to the west and the Raystown Lake region to the southeast. The area works well as an RV base because it puts a state park, a large Army Corps of Engineers lake, and several private RV resorts within an hour's drive.
Options closest to town include Wrights Orchard Station Campground and Weimers RV 764 Campground / Scott$ Arcade, both convenient for travelers who want to stay near Hollidaysburg itself. A short drive south and east opens up James Creek RV Resort and Heritage Cove Resort, two full-service parks positioned for Raystown Lake trips.
For a more rustic setting, Blue Knob State Park sits on Pennsylvania's second-highest mountain at 3,146 feet and offers state-run tent and trailer sites inside a 6,128-acre park. Together these campgrounds cover the main styles of RV stay in the region: quick roadside hookups, family resorts with pools and activities, and forested state-park sites.
Things to do near Hollidaysburg
Raystown Lake is the region's main draw. It is the largest lake located entirely within Pennsylvania, an 8,300-acre Army Corps of Engineers reservoir with boating, swimming at Tatman Run and Seven Points beaches, and strong fishing. James Creek RV Resort and Heritage Cove Resort both sit close to the lake shore. Trough Creek State Park, with its trails and Rainbow Falls, is a short drive from the same cluster of campgrounds.
Blue Knob State Park adds hiking, mountain biking, fishing, hunting in season, and downhill skiing at the adjacent Blue Knob All Seasons Resort. In town, families use Hollidaysburg as a base for Lincoln Caverns, the Horseshoe Curve National Historic Landmark near Altoona, and DelGrosso's Amusement Park. Staying at Wrights Orchard Station Campground or Weimers RV 764 Campground / Scott$ Arcade keeps drive times to these attractions short.

Camping season in this part of Pennsylvania is anchored to the state park calendar. The 50 tent and trailer sites at Blue Knob State Park are open from the second Friday in April to mid-October, with cabins and the Twin Fawn House available year-round. Private parks such as James Creek RV Resort and Heritage Cove Resort typically run longer shoulder seasons, but pool access and some hookups track the warm months.
Summer, from June through August, is peak. Weekends around holidays fill first, and Raystown Lake sites often book months in advance. Late spring and early fall are quieter, with cool nights and strong foliage color in October across the Allegheny Front.
Winter shifts the region toward skiing. Blue Knob All Seasons Resort operates Pennsylvania's highest-elevation ski area, and cross-country skiing runs on many park trails. Most tent and RV sites are closed in this window, so winter RV visitors should confirm which private parks keep hookups open and which shut water lines against freezing.

The camper was well stocked, clean, and comfortable. This is the 2nd time we rented from mike and he is very accommodating. Next time ill have to remember not to pack so much. They even thought of is when the nights got cold and brought us another propane tank, just in case, and we didnt even have to ask. Thanks Mike, for another wonderful fall adventure.

Shawn and Melinda made it easy to hold a memorable Penn State tailgate, even for someone like me who is new to RV rental. The Beaver Stadium RV lot didn’t have RV hookups so they made sure we had water and extra gas for the generator. They thought if every detail. The RV was super clean and well-stocked. They had excellent communication and were so friendly and helpful. I would 100% rent from them again.

This was my first time renting an RV and it was the smoothest process! The hosts were in contact with me before delivery so I knew exactly when they would arrive. They were so friendly and set up the entire camper and gave me a tour. We had an awesome experience, thank you!

How to book a campsite
Blue Knob State Park is booked through the Pennsylvania state parks reservation system, run on ReserveAmerica. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance and must be made at least 3 days ahead of arrival, so planning for peak summer weekends should start early in the year. New inventory releases at noon Eastern Time.
James Creek RV Resort, Heritage Cove Resort, Wrights Orchard Station Campground, and Weimers RV 764 Campground / Scott$ Arcade are private parks and take bookings directly through their own websites or by phone. Cabin and lodge units at James Creek RV Resort sell out earliest for summer holidays. For an RV rental trip, confirm site length, hookup amperage (30 or 50 amp), and whether the site is pull-through or back-in before booking, since older parks in the region include a mix of layouts.
What to expect on the ground
Terrain around Hollidaysburg is hilly. Roads into Blue Knob State Park climb steeply on PA 869 and Blue Knob Road, so drivers of larger Class A rigs or long fifth-wheels should study the route in advance and take the I-99 approach when possible. Cell coverage thins inside the state park and along parts of the Raystown Lake shoreline.
Private parks in the area lean family-oriented, with a mix of pull-through and back-in sites and 30- and 50-amp service. Heritage Cove Resort and the smaller campgrounds closer to town run similar hookups and amenities at varying scales.
Blue Knob sites are more rustic. Most sites have electric hookups but no water or sewer at the site, and there is a sanitary dump station on the property. RV renters should arrive with full fresh-water tanks and a plan for waste, since elevation means cool nights even in summer.

Booking is low-risk. RVezy applies a standard cancellation policy to every reservation (not the host), and there is a short grace period right after booking so you can lock in your dates with confidence. Refund amounts after that window depend on how far out you cancel, which matters in central PA where winter storms or summer weather can shift plans. If something changes with your Hollidaysburg RV trip, log in to your RVezy account or contact support and they'll walk you through your options. If a host ever cancels on you, RVezy refunds you or provides booking credits so your trip stays on track.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Hollidaysburg?
Absolutely, your pup is welcome on the trip. Some hosts add a small cleaning fee, which is shown upfront before you book. Once you arrive, Canoe Creek State Park allows leashed pets on most trails and in designated pet-friendly campsites, and Chimney Rocks Park in Hollidaysburg is a beautiful leashed-dog hike with valley overlooks. Pro tip: pack a collapsible water bowl, the trails get warm in July and August.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/CanoeCreekStatePark/Pages/default.aspxCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Hollidaysburg?
Yes, and it's the easiest way to start your trip. Many RVezy hosts offer RV delivery in Hollidaysburg, meaning they will drop the rig at your campsite at Canoe Creek State Park, Blue Knob State Park, or your own driveway, then level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before they leave. Delivery is perfect if it's your first time renting an RV or if you'd rather skip towing through the Allegheny Mountains. Filter by Delivery on RVezy and message the host to confirm the drop-off address. By the time you arrive, the awning is out and the fridge is cold.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Hollidaysburg,PennsylvaniaHow far can I drive my Hollidaysburg RV rental?

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Hollidaysburg,PennsylvaniaWhere are the best campgrounds near Hollidaysburg, PA?
You're spoiled for choice. The best campgrounds near Hollidaysburg start with Canoe Creek State Park, just east of town, with a 155-acre lake and modern RV sites. Prince Gallitzin State Park near Patton offers lakeside loops about 25 miles north, and Blue Knob State Park near Imler (around 20 miles south) gives you mountain elevation and cooler summer nights. For full hookups and a resort vibe, Lake Raystown Resort and Seven Points Campground at Raystown Lake are about 40 miles east in Hesston. Pleasant Hills RV Resort near Hesston is a family-friendly favorite with full hookups. Book Pennsylvania state parks through the official PA State Parks reservation system, ideally three to six months ahead for summer weekends.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/Reservations/Pages/default.aspxWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Hollidaysburg?
Late spring through mid-fall is the sweet spot, and every season has its charm. May through early October brings highs in the 70s and 80s F, ideal for RV camping in Hollidaysburg and exploring Raystown Lake. October is the local favorite for color: the Allegheny ridges around Blue Knob and Canoe Creek light up with red and gold foliage, typically peaking the second and third weeks of October. July and August are warmest (highs near 85 F) and best for swimming and boating. Winters dip into the 20s F with snow, so most campgrounds close from late October through April. Pro tip: book a fall-foliage Hollidaysburg RV trip by July if you want the best rigs available.
weather.gov/ctp/What if I've never driven an RV before?
You're in great hands. First time renting an RV is the most common scenario on RVezy, and every host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup, covering the generator, slide-outs, water system, propane, leveling jacks, and dump procedures, plus a cheat sheet for the road. If you're nervous about navigating the Allegheny Mountain grades around Hollidaysburg, choose a Class B campervan rental in Hollidaysburg or a smaller Class C, both drive much like a large van. You can also book delivery so the host parks and sets up the RV for you. And remember, 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every RVezy renter protection plan, so help is one tap away if anything feels off.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I break down during my Hollidaysburg RV trip?
You're never stranded. Every motorhome rental in Hollidaysburg on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on I-99, a battery issue at Canoe Creek, or a tow off US-22 is handled with one phone call. The roadside team coordinates tire changes, jump-starts, lockout service, fuel delivery, and towing to the nearest qualified repair shop. Your host is also a quick message away in the RVezy app, which is helpful for quirky questions like where the second propane shutoff is located. Pro tip: snap a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate before you leave the driveway, it speeds up any roadside call.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best RV road trips from Hollidaysburg?
Hollidaysburg is a fantastic launch pad. A great RV road trip from Hollidaysburg starts with Raystown Lake (about 40 miles east) for boating and the Allegrippis Trails, then loops through Gettysburg National Military Park (about 110 miles southeast) for Civil War history. Heading west, Pittsburgh is about 95 miles away on US-22, perfect for a city-and-stadium weekend with the rig parked at a nearby campground. To the north, Cook Forest State Park's old-growth pines sit about 130 miles away, and the Finger Lakes wine country in New York is a doable 220-mile push. Cross-border travel into Canada is generally allowed with host approval, just confirm before you book. Trips to Mexico are not permitted on RVezy.
visitpa.com/regions/allegheniesWhat's a realistic fuel budget for an RV trip from Hollidaysburg?
Easier to budget than you'd think. Pennsylvania gas prices typically run a bit above the national average. Travel trailers towed by a half-ton truck average 10 to 13 miles per gallon (mpg), Class C motorhomes get 8 to 12 mpg, and Class B campervans often hit 16 to 20 mpg. For a 300-mile loop to Raystown Lake and back in a Class C, plan on roughly $90 to $130 in fuel depending on current prices. Pro tip: the Sheetz stations along US-22 and I-99 around Duncansville and Altoona often have competitive diesel and regular prices in Blair County, and many have RV-friendly pumps.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book a campground near Hollidaysburg?
Earlier is better, and you have options. Pennsylvania state park campgrounds, including Canoe Creek, Prince Gallitzin, and Blue Knob, open reservations up to 11 months in advance through the official Pennsylvania State Parks reservation system, and summer holiday weekends (Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day) often book within hours of opening. Aim to reserve by February for peak summer dates. Private parks around Hesston and Bedford usually have more last-minute openings, especially midweek. Pro tip: if your dream weekend at Seven Points at Raystown Lake is full, check back two weeks out, cancellations are common and the official site refreshes inventory daily.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/Reservations/Pages/default.aspxWhat are the driving conditions like around Hollidaysburg?
Manageable and scenic once you know the terrain. Hollidaysburg sits in the Allegheny Mountain region, so expect rolling grades on I-99, US-22, and US-220, plus a few steeper climbs near Blue Knob and the Allegheny Front. Roads are well-maintained by PennDOT and generally have generous shoulders, which makes RV driving comfortable. Watch for the mountainous stretches around Altoona near the Horseshoe Curve area, take it slow in the right lane. Winter brings snow and occasional ice from late November through March, so most renters stick to April through October. Pro tip: check 511PA for live conditions, and avoid driving the mountain stretches in heavy fog (common in early morning).
511pa.com/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Hollidaysburg?
More than you might expect for central PA. State park campgrounds like Canoe Creek and Prince Gallitzin offer electric hookups (many sites 30/50-amp), modern restrooms with hot showers, dump stations, and potable water fill stations, though full sewer hookups are rare in PA state parks. Private parks around Raystown Lake and Hesston typically offer full hookups (water, electric, sewer), Wi-Fi, laundry, camp stores, and pools. Most campgrounds within 30 miles of Hollidaysburg have a dump station available for guests. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose and a 30-to-50-amp adapter, the most common gaps for first-timers.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/WhatToDo/Camping/Pages/default.aspxWhat's included inside a typical Hollidaysburg RV rental?
Pretty much everything you need to live comfortably on the road. Most RVs on RVezy in Hollidaysburg come fully equipped with a queen or king bed, convertible dinette and sofa for extra sleepers, a full kitchen (fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, cookware, dishes), a bathroom with shower and toilet, air conditioning, furnace, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many include a flat-screen TV, Bluetooth stereo, and a generator or solar setup for off-grid stays. Wi-Fi depends on the host and cell signal, which is solid along I-99 but spottier near Blue Knob. Each RVezy listing shows exactly what's included, so you'll know before you book whether you're packing sheets or rolling in to find them already on the bed.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Hollidaysburg,PennsylvaniaWhat add-ons can I get with my Hollidaysburg RV rental?
Plenty of ways to customize your trip. RVezy hosts in Hollidaysburg often offer popular add-ons like generator use, bedding and linen packages, camp chairs and outdoor mats, bikes, kayaks or paddleboards (great for Canoe Creek Lake and Raystown), and propane refills. Some hosts include unlimited mileage in the base rate, others charge per mile beyond a daily limit, all clearly shown on the listing. Pickup and dropoff happen at the host's location, or you can pay for delivery to your campground. Pro tip: bundle add-ons when you message the host, many will offer a small package discount if you ask before booking.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Hollidaysburg,PennsylvaniaHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
It's straightforward and transparent. When you book an RV rental in Hollidaysburg, you pay securely through the RVezy platform, never directly to the host in cash. You'll see the nightly rate, cleaning fee, service fee, taxes, any chosen add-ons, and the security deposit upfront before confirming. The security deposit is held separately from your booking payment and released after the trip once the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. To avoid issues, do a quick walkaround video with your host at pickup and again at dropoff, and follow the host's mileage and generator policies. Pro tip: keep all receipts for propane and dump fees, they're often reimbursable if pre-arranged.
