Campgrounds near Lansdowne, Pennsylvania
Lansdowne is a small borough in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, immediately southwest of Philadelphia. Because Lansdowne sits inside a dense inner-ring suburb, there are no RV parks within the borough itself. Most campgrounds RV travelers use as a base for Philadelphia trips lie a short drive across the Delaware River in South Jersey.
The closest full-service option is Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday, the only KOA in New Jersey, about 20 minutes from downtown Philadelphia. Other nearby South Jersey grounds include Lake Kandle, a private campground and swim club in Washington Township (Sewell), New Jersey, Old Cedar Campground in Monroeville, a family-run property in the heart of rural South Jersey, Four Seasons Campgrounds in Pilesgrove, and Village Scene Park.
Most visitors use these grounds as a base for sightseeing in Philadelphia while sleeping outside the city core, with quick access back to Center City via I-295 and the Walt Whitman or Commodore Barry bridges.
Things to do near Lansdowne
Central Philadelphia is the main draw. The Independence National Historical Park area, museum row along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, and the sports complex in South Philadelphia are all within a short drive. Fairmount Park and the Schuylkill River Trail give RV travelers walking and biking options close to the city.
On-site activities vary by campground. Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday offers cornhole, horseshoes, ladder ball, a Jumping Pillow, a playground, a catch-and-release pond, a swimming pool, and a KampK9 off-leash dog park. Lake Kandle features supervised swimming at a spring-fed lake, an activity pool, and a central pool, plus lake fishing and a snack bar. Old Cedar Campground has mini golf, a swimming pool, two catch-and-release fishing areas, planned weekend activities, hayrides, pickleball, and horseshoes.

The camping season in this part of the Delaware Valley is shaped by South Jersey operators, since Lansdowne itself has no RV parks. Lake Kandle runs from May 1 through October 1, with the campground opening on the last Friday of April and closing on the first Sunday of October in practice. Old Cedar Campground operates seasonally, with the operator listing April 15 through October 31; some third-party listings show April 15 through October 15, so travelers should confirm shoulder-season dates when booking.
Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday operates year-round and is the most reliable option for late-fall, winter, and early-spring stays in the region. Its pool typically runs Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Summer weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day are the busiest across every ground near Philadelphia, with Independence Day weekend the peak because of the city's Fourth of July programming. Fall brings cooler nights, agricultural attractions, and lower midweek availability before seasonal grounds close.

How to book campgrounds near Lansdowne
All five campgrounds in this area are privately operated, so reservations go directly to each property rather than through a central park-system portal such as Recreation.gov or ReserveAmerica. Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday takes bookings through the KOA website and app. The others accept reservations by phone or through their own sites, and Old Cedar publishes a dedicated reservation line at 800-58-CEDAR.
Deposit and cancellation rules vary. Old Cedar requires a two-night minimum on weekends, three nights on holidays, and a $50 refundable security deposit for reservations. Lake Kandle requires a two-night minimum, three on holidays, and has stated that strong seasonal demand can leave no nightly inventory in a given year, so it is worth calling ahead. Seasonal sites dominate Lake Kandle, Old Cedar, and Four Seasons Campgrounds, so short-term transient inventory can be limited on peak weekends. Book early for July and August.
What to expect
Expect suburban and rural surroundings rather than backcountry. The South Jersey campgrounds sit near working farms, wineries, and small towns, with quick highway access to Philadelphia via I-95, I-295, and the Walt Whitman or Commodore Barry bridges.
Hookup availability is generally strong. Old Cedar Campground offers 20, 30, and 50 amp service, a dump station, and full-hookup sites. Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday offers 50/30 amp full-hookup sites, including KOA Patio sites, plus deluxe and camping cabins, and is marketed as big-rig friendly, though some reviewers note narrow interior roads and sites close together.
Pet policies differ. Many grounds are pet-friendly, but Lake Kandle does not allow pets and does not permit tent camping, restricting stays to RVs, motorhomes, and pop-ups.

I-476 (the Blue Route), I-95, and US-1 (Baltimore Pike) give you fast access to the Pennsylvania Turnpike, the Jersey Shore, and the Poconos. Avoid taking taller motorhomes onto Center City Philadelphia's Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) during rush hour, and steer clear of low-clearance routes like Lincoln Drive in Fairmount Park and the Roosevelt Boulevard underpasses. Watch for sudden afternoon thunderstorms in summer and possible black ice on bridges in winter. Pro tip: program your route using an RV-specific GPS or the RV Life app, which flags every low bridge and weight-restricted road in the greater Philadelphia area.

You've got convenient options close to home. Most full-hookup campgrounds around Lansdowne, including Philadelphia/West Chester KOA and Lake In Wood Resort, provide on-site dump stations and potable water fills as part of your stay. For day trips or boondocking returns, French Creek State Park and Tohickon Family Campground both offer dump access for a small fee. Many Wawa and Flying J locations along I-95 and the PA Turnpike sell propane and stock RV essentials. Expect typical local campground amenities like 30/50-amp power, picnic tables, fire rings, and shower houses. Pro tip: top off fresh water before leaving the campground rather than at gas stations, the water pressure and hose quality are far better, and you'll avoid hauling extra weight unnecessarily.

Many listings also feature a flat-screen TV, Bluetooth speakers, an onboard generator for off-grid power, and outdoor awnings with patio lights for evenings under the stars. Larger Class A and Class C motorhomes often add slide-outs, washer/dryer combos, and bunk beds for kids, making them ideal for a family RV trip Lansdowne weekends and longer hauls. Mileage policies vary, with many hosts offering 100 to 150 free miles per night and reasonable per-mile rates beyond that, plus unlimited-mileage upgrades for cross-country trips. Pro tip: bundle bedding and a kitchen kit on your first booking, you'll save a packing headache and arrive ready to camp.
visitpa.com/How do payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is straightforward and secure. When you book an RV rental in Lansdowne, PA on RVezy, you pay through the platform with a credit or debit card, never in cash directly to the host. A refundable security deposit is placed on your card before the trip (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV), held separately from your booking payment, and released after dropoff once the host confirms the rig came back in good shape. To avoid any deposit hiccups, return the RV on time, with the agreed fuel level, tanks emptied if required, and the interior tidy. Pro tip: take timestamped photos of the inside and outside at both pickup and dropoff, it's the easiest way to keep your full deposit and end your Lansdowne adventure on a high note.
