Campgrounds and RV parks near Lawnton, PA

Lawnton is a census-designated place in Swatara Township, Dauphin County, roughly five miles east of downtown Harrisburg, the state capital. The location puts RV travelers within a short drive of Hershey, Lancaster County, and Gettysburg, with I-83, I-81, I-283, US 322, and the Pennsylvania Turnpike all feeding the area. The closest full-service park is Harrisburg East Campground, located just off I-283 in Harrisburg and within about ten miles of Hershey. It offers full-hookup RV sites with 30 or 50 amp electric, water, sewer, and cable TV connections, plus WiFi at each site. About ten miles east, Hersheypark Camping Resort sits on 55 acres adjacent to the amusement park, and Elizabethtown / Hershey KOA Holiday and Hershey Road Campground round out the private-park options in the Hershey and Lancaster County corridor. For a quieter, non-amusement-park experience, Camp Hebron lies north of the city near Halifax and operates as a wooded Christian retreat that also hosts family camping.

The Lawnton area is served entirely by private campgrounds, so reservations go directly through each park's website or phone line rather than a federal system like Recreation.gov. Harrisburg East Campground takes bookings through its own site and by phone. Hersheypark Camping Resort books through the official Hersheypark resorts portal, which also bundles park tickets in seasonal packages such as summer and holiday camping packages. For summer weekends, especially those tied to Hersheypark event dates, book two to three months out. Holiday stays around Christmas Candylane sell out earliest at Hersheypark Camping Resort. Elizabethtown / Hershey KOA Holiday uses the standard KOA reservation system, and Camp Hebron and Hershey Road Campground both take direct reservations by phone and web.
