Campgrounds near New Jerusalem
New Jerusalem is a small village in Berks County, Pennsylvania, set in the rolling farmland of the Oley Valley between Kutztown and Hamburg. The area sits within easy reach of the Blue Mountain ridge, the Appalachian Trail, and Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, which makes it a practical base for RV travelers who want quiet rural surroundings with access to hiking and Pennsylvania Dutch country attractions.
Campground options in the surrounding countryside range from full-hookup family resorts to smaller wooded parks. Blue Rocks Family Campground has 200 different campsites and a full events calendar through the season, while Sacony Park Campgrounds, Pine Hill RV Park, Lazy-K Campground Inc, and Robin Hill RV Resort and Campground provide additional choices within a short drive of the village.
Most parks in this corner of Berks County cater to RVs with water and electric hookups, dump stations, and family amenities such as pools and playgrounds. Roads through the area are generally two-lane and rural, so travelers with larger rigs should plan routing in advance.
Things to do near New Jerusalem
Outdoor activity dominates the local itinerary. The Appalachian Trail crosses Blue Mountain just north of the village, and Hawk Mountain Sanctuary offers ridgetop trails known for autumn raptor migration. Blue Marsh Lake near Bernville adds boating, swimming, and a long shared-use loop trail.
The forest around Blue Rocks Family Campground occupies over 100 acres divided by mountain streams and is surrounded by miles of hiking trails, with the Blue Rocks boulder field as a notable feature. Families also visit Crystal Cave, Kutztown's small-town shops and Pennsylvania German heritage sites, and the antique markets and farm stands scattered through the Oley Valley.
For rainy days, Reading and Allentown are both under an hour away and offer museums, indoor attractions, and outlet shopping.

Peak RV season in this part of Pennsylvania runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, when campgrounds host weekend themes, pools open, and family sites book up first. Summer weekends and holiday periods often require multi-night stays. Reservations at Blue Rocks Family Campground require a two-night minimum, and holiday and weekend reservations require a three-night minimum, which is typical for the region.
Spring and fall are quieter and often more comfortable for hiking. September and October bring foliage across Blue Mountain and heavy raptor activity at Hawk Mountain, drawing weekend visitors from the Philadelphia and New York metro areas. Reserving several weeks ahead is advised for these fall weekends.
Winter is the off-season. Many private campgrounds in Berks County close or reduce operations from late fall through March, and water hookups are typically shut off during freeze periods. Travelers planning cold-weather trips should confirm which sites remain open and whether electric-only service is available.

How to book near New Jerusalem
Most campgrounds near New Jerusalem are privately owned and take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Booking online is standard, though smaller parks like Lazy-K Campground Inc and Sacony Park Campgrounds may prefer a phone call to confirm site type and rig length. Blue Rocks Family Campground, Pine Hill RV Park, and Robin Hill RV Resort and Campground all accept advance reservations for the main season.
For federal recreation areas such as Blue Marsh Lake, day-use group sites and shelters are handled through Recreation.gov. Most campsites in Pennsylvania state parks can be reserved 11 months in advance to noon of the day of arrival through the state's reservation portal.
For peak summer weekends, holiday weeks, and fall foliage dates, book as early as possible. Rig length, slide-outs, and the need for full hookups should be confirmed at the time of booking.
What to expect near New Jerusalem
Expect a rural setting with narrow country roads, working farms, and small villages. Cell coverage is generally reliable along main routes but can be spotty in wooded valleys and along the ridge. GPS routing occasionally sends larger vehicles onto tight lanes, so drivers of Class A rigs and larger fifth wheels should cross-check directions against the campground's own arrival instructions.
Sites vary from open pull-throughs to shaded back-ins under mature trees. Family-oriented parks tend to be busy and social on summer weekends, with organized activities, while smaller campgrounds stay quieter. Standard rules across the area include adult supervision of children and fully extinguishing campfires before bed or leaving the site.
Groceries, propane, and dump stations are available in Kutztown, Hamburg, and Fleetwood.

Yes, RV delivery New Jerusalem is one of the most popular options on the platform, and it is a great choice for first-time renters. Many local hosts will tow or drive the rig directly to nearby campgrounds like Robin Hill Camping Resort in Lenhartsville, Pine Hill Campground in Kutztown, or Blue Rocks Family Campground, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. You just show up with groceries and clothes. Filter for Delivery in the search results and message the host with your destination, most deliver within a 30 to 60 mile radius for a flat fee.

dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/FrenchCreekStatePark/Pages/default.aspxWhen is the best time of year for a New Jerusalem RV trip?
Late May through mid-October is the sweet spot for a New Jerusalem RV trip, with daytime highs ranging from the mid-60s in May to the mid-80s in July and August, then cooling to the gorgeous 60s and 70s of fall foliage season. September and early October are arguably the best weeks of all, the Kutztown and Hamburg countryside lights up in red and gold, humidity drops, and campgrounds quiet down. Winter rentals are possible (some hosts equip rigs with heated tanks and propane heat), but expect overnight lows in the teens or 20s from December through February. Pro tip: book early October now if you want a leaf-peeping weekend on the Hawk Mountain ridges.
weather.gov/ctp/I've never driven an RV before, will I actually be okay?
Yes, and you are in great company, the majority of RVezy guests in New Jerusalem are first-timers. Every host does a hands-on orientation at pickup (or at delivery) covering driving, leveling, propane, water, slide-outs, and the dump process, and you can text them throughout the trip with questions. For your first time renting an RV, consider a Class C motorhome or smaller travel trailer, they handle a lot like a big pickup. Stick to Routes 222, I-78, and Route 22 to start, they are wide and well-maintained. Book a Friday afternoon pickup so you can practice in a parking lot near Kutztown before heading to camp.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if I have a breakdown or roadside issue?
You are covered, 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every RVezy booking, so help is one phone call away whether you are parked at Blue Rocks or rolling down I-78 toward the Poconos. The service handles the typical issues: flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, tow assistance, and mechanical breakdowns. Your host is also a direct line for questions about the rig's quirks, most respond within minutes. Save both numbers in your phone before pickup and keep your booking confirmation handy. Rural stretches of Berks and Schuylkill counties can have spotty cell service, so download offline maps for your route before heading out on your RV camping New Jerusalem adventure.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best road trip destinations from New Jerusalem, PA?
You're sitting on one of the best launch pads in the Mid-Atlantic. Popular routes for an RV road trip from New Jerusalem include the Pocono Mountains (about 75 miles north, roughly 1 hour 40 minutes) for lakes and waterfalls, Lancaster's Amish Country (45 miles southwest, about 1 hour) for farm stays, the Jersey Shore at Cape May (140 miles southeast, around 3 hours), Gettysburg (110 miles west, about 2 hours), and Shenandoah National Park in Virginia (about 230 miles south). Cross-state trips into New York, Maryland, and Delaware are all allowed on RVezy rentals. Travel to Mexico is not permitted, and any Canadian crossing should be confirmed with the host first.
visitpa.com/How much should I budget for fuel on a New Jerusalem RV trip?
Easy to estimate, and it's usually less than people expect. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 miles per gallon, Class C motorhomes 8 to 12 mpg, Class A rigs 6 to 10 mpg, and a tow vehicle with a travel trailer lands around 10 to 14 mpg. Pennsylvania gas prices typically run a bit above the national average, hovering around $3.40 to $3.90 a gallon in Berks County. For a 300-mile weekend loop in a Class C, plan on roughly $90 to $130 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up at Wawa or Sheetz off Route 222 in Kutztown before heading north, prices climb noticeably in the Poconos.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground around New Jerusalem?
Book 2 to 3 months ahead for summer weekends and holidays, and 3 to 4 weeks ahead for shoulder-season trips. Pennsylvania state parks like French Creek and Locust Lake use the official DCNR reservation system, which opens bookings up to 11 months in advance and fills quickly for July and August. Private parks like Blue Rocks, Robin Hill, and the Allentown KOA take direct online reservations and often have midweek availability even in peak summer. If a Saturday is sold out, try a Sunday-to-Thursday stay, you will have your pick of premium sites and pay 20 to 30 percent less.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/Reservations/Pages/default.aspxWhat are local driving conditions like around New Jerusalem?
You'll find the driving very manageable, this is rolling Pennsylvania Dutch farm country, not mountain switchbacks. I-78 and Route 222 are the main arteries and both are wide, well-maintained, and flat enough for any rig. The rural roads around New Jerusalem, Kutztown, and Hamburg can be narrow with the occasional horse-and-buggy from local Amish and Mennonite communities, so take it slow on backroads, especially Sunday mornings. Winter brings occasional snow and black ice from December to March, summer thunderstorms can be intense but brief. Pro tip: avoid Route 22 through Allentown at rush hour (7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.), looping via I-78 saves real time and stress.
penndot.pa.gov/RegionalOffices/district-5/Pages/default.aspxWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near New Jerusalem?
You'll have everything you need. Most private campgrounds in Berks, Lehigh, and Schuylkill counties offer full hookups (water, electric 30/50 amp, and sewer), plus dump stations, potable water fill-ups, hot showers, laundry, Wi-Fi, and camp stores. Blue Rocks and Robin Hill add pools and playgrounds, the Allentown KOA has cabins and a creek. Pennsylvania state parks like French Creek offer electric sites and a centralized dump station, but no individual sewer hookups, plan a quick dump stop on your way out. Pro tip: top off your fresh water tank before leaving the campground, water sources are limited on the Appalachian ridge roads heading toward Hawk Mountain.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/FrenchCreekStatePark/Pages/default.aspxWhat's included inside the RV itself?
Most RVezy rentals in the New Jerusalem area come fully equipped with a queen or king bed, additional convertible sleeping for kids, a working kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a full bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and a generator or solar setup for off-grid stays. Wi-Fi is usually via your phone hotspot, cell coverage is solid on Verizon and AT&T throughout Berks County. Ask the host about add-ons like linens, camp chairs, and kitchen kits. For a family RV trip New Jerusalem weekend, prioritize listings that sleep 2 more than your group size, you will thank yourself on rainy days.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=New%20Jerusalem%2C%20PennsylvaniaWhat add-ons can I get, and how does pickup and drop-off work?
Popular add-ons from New Jerusalem hosts include bedding and linen packages ($30 to $75), kitchen kits ($25 to $50), outdoor chairs and tables, portable grills, bike racks, generators, and pre-stocked propane or waste tank emptying so you can return the rig as-is. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Berks or Lehigh County, with a 30 to 60 minute orientation walkthrough. Drop-off typically mirrors pickup time the next day or end of trip. Want it delivered? Many hosts will bring the campervan rental New Jerusalem directly to your campsite for a flat fee. Ask about a return-with-empty-tanks add-on, it is an easy convenience for $40 to $60.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=New%20Jerusalem%2C%20PennsylvaniaHow do payments and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payments are handled securely through the RVezy platform, no cash, no checks, no awkward handoffs. You pay your rental total online when you book, and a refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card a few days before pickup (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig). The hold is released after drop-off once the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. To avoid any deposit issues, do a quick walk-around photo set at pickup and drop-off, empty your gray and black tanks if required, and return with the agreed fuel level. Use a credit card rather than debit, the pre-auth hold will not tie up your checking account.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I dump tanks and refill fresh water near New Jerusalem?
Most local campgrounds, including Blue Rocks Family Campground, Robin Hill Camping Resort, Pine Hill, and the Allentown KOA, offer dump stations and potable water fills, often free for guests and $10 to $20 for non-guests. French Creek State Park has a centralized dump station open to campers. Many Flying J and Pilot truck stops along I-78 have RV dump and water service for around $15 to $20. Dump and refill the morning of checkout rather than the night before, you will roll out with a clean rig and a full fresh tank ready for the next leg of your RV trip.
