Campgrounds near Old Orchard, Pennsylvania
Old Orchard is a small census-designated place in Palmer Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, part of the Lehigh Valley metropolitan area. It sits just outside Easton, giving RV travelers a convenient base between the Lehigh Valley cities and the Delaware River corridor along the New Jersey border.
Most campgrounds in the area are privately owned family parks clustered in Bucks and Northampton counties, within roughly a thirty to forty-five minute drive of Old Orchard. Ringing Rocks Family Campground, Colonial Woods Family Resort, Mountainview Campground, Little Red Barn Camp Grounds, and Tohickon Family Campground all sit in the wooded hills and countryside close to Upper Black Eddy and the Delaware River.
These parks focus on families and weekend RV travelers, with pools, playgrounds, and organized activities. State-owned camping is limited close in, but Nockamixon State Park and the Delaware Canal State Park corridor provide day-use recreation nearby.
Things to do near Old Orchard
Ringing Rocks County Park offers a boulder field where visitors can strike the rocks with a hammer and hear them ring, plus a short hike to a small waterfall above the field. The Delaware River is close by for tubing, kayaking, and fishing, and the Delaware Canal towpath runs parallel for easy flat walking and cycling.
Families staying at Ringing Rocks Family Campground can use the on-site pool, playground, hayrides, and organized weekend events. Nockamixon State Park is close, offering lake boating, mountain biking, and swimming.
Easton sits minutes from Old Orchard and holds the Crayola Experience, the National Canal Museum, and a walkable downtown. Dorney Park, Lehigh Valley Zoo, and the historic districts of Bethlehem round out rainy-day and multi-generational options.

Most private campgrounds in this part of Pennsylvania run a spring-to-fall season, typically opening in April and closing in late October. Neighboring parks follow a similar pattern, and winter camping options are limited. Many parks close their water systems and bathhouses once overnight temperatures drop below freezing.
Summer weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day are the busiest stretch, with holiday weekends filling months in advance. Families should book early for the Fourth of July and Labor Day, when campgrounds host organized activities such as chili cook-offs, movie nights, and hayrides.
Spring and fall bring quieter sites, cooler nights, and better availability. Fall foliage along the Delaware River peaks in mid to late October, making the final weeks of the season a strong choice for scenic drives and hiking. Spring can be wet, so campers should expect muddy sites in April and early May.

Great weekend getaway!
Kami A. - Nov 2024
Great vehicle and friendly owners. This compact camper has a lot of creature comforts while allowing one to maneuver and park in regular parking lots. The van is really easy to drive and handles really nice. The beds were comfortable and IMO accommodate 2 adults (top bed) and 1 adult or 2 kids in the lower bed. We were able to use the bike rack, too, and that worked great for a road bike and mountain bike (I think 2 mountain bikes might not fit unless the handle bars were turned on 1 of them). We didn't use the, generator, heater, hot water, shower, sink, microwave or toilet so I can't comment on them but I wish we rented it longer so we could've taken advantage of all this van has to offer. We would absolutely rent again.

Great holiday weekend in Dalton's camper! He was an amazing host, and everything was as described. We had the camper delivered and picked up by Mike, who was also awesome! Thanks for a great weekend!
Stephanie H. - Sep 2026
Dalton's Jayco is the perfect option for a small family. There's plenty of sleeping options for the kids, and the tub is a great bonus for bath time. The camper is well maintained and everything was functional. Delivery and pick up to the site went smoothly. We're hoping it's available next year too!

How to book a campground near Old Orchard
Private parks in the area typically take reservations directly through their own websites or through third-party platforms. Ringing Rocks Family Campground is located at 75 Woodland Drive in Upper Black Eddy and takes bookings through Campspot, with phone reservations also available.
Colonial Woods Family Resort, Mountainview Campground, Little Red Barn Camp Grounds, and Tohickon Family Campground each maintain their own reservation systems. Deposits are usually required at booking, and holiday weekends often carry minimum-night stays of two or three nights.
Pennsylvania State Parks such as Nockamixon can be reserved 11 months in advance to noon of the day of arrival through the state's official reservation portal. Reservations open at 12:00 PM Eastern Time, which is unusual among state park systems. Popular waterfront and lakeside sites go quickly once the booking window opens.
What to expect when RV camping near Old Orchard
Expect wooded, rolling terrain typical of eastern Pennsylvania, with sites that range from open grassy pull-throughs to shaded back-ins under mature hardwoods. Campgrounds in the area generally offer tent and RV sites with electric and water hookups, 30 and 50 amp service, and a dump station or pump-out service on site.
Quiet hours after 10pm are commonly enforced, and most parks are family-oriented with pools, camp stores, and playgrounds. Cell coverage is generally reliable given proximity to the Lehigh Valley, though wooded hollows may see weaker signal.
Roads leading to campgrounds along the Delaware River are narrow and winding in spots, so drivers of larger rigs should plan routes carefully. Firewood is typically sold on site, and outside wood is often restricted to help prevent the spread of invasive pests.
