Camping near Paoli, Pennsylvania
Paoli sits on Philadelphia's Main Line in Chester County, roughly 20 miles west of Center City and within reach of the Brandywine Valley, Valley Forge, and Lancaster County. The area is a practical base for RV travelers who want proximity to historic sites and gardens without staying inside the city. Regional rail service into Philadelphia is available from Paoli station, which makes the location useful for day trips without unhitching.
Close-in RV options are limited, so most travelers stay at private parks in the surrounding countryside. Brandywine Creek Campground sits along the East Brandywine Creek in the Downingtown area and offers full-hookup RV sites near Marsh Creek State Park. Philadelphia / West Chester KOA Holiday, located on Embreeville Road in Coatesville, spreads along the Brandywine and offers RV sites, cabins, and family amenities.
Additional nearby options include Village Scene Park, Oak Grove Park and Sales, and Camp Country Center, which round out the choices for travelers looking for something within a short drive of Paoli.
Things to do around Paoli
History drives most itineraries here. Valley Forge National Historical Park is about 20 minutes north and offers a driving tour, ranger programs, and miles of multi-use trails. Longwood Gardens, Winterthur, and the Brandywine River Museum of Art sit within the Brandywine Valley, an area often called America's Garden Capital.
For outdoor time, Marsh Creek State Park has boating, fishing, and hiking trails near Brandywine Creek Campground. French Creek State Park, about 40 minutes northwest near Elverson, covers thousands of acres with a large trail network and two lakes for electric-motor boating and fishing.
Families staying at the Philadelphia / West Chester KOA Holiday can rent canoes from the on-site landing, use the seasonal pool, and play mini-golf. Lancaster County's Amish farmland is roughly an hour west for a full-day trip.

The main private-park RV season runs from spring through fall. Brandywine Creek Campground operates seasonally from April 1 to November 1, which is typical for smaller private parks in the region. Plan around that window if you want a creek-side private park rather than a year-round option.
Summer brings warm, humid weather and the busiest bookings, especially around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day weekends. The pool at Philadelphia / West Chester KOA Holiday runs Memorial Day through Labor Day, and the KOA itself is open all year. Spring and early fall are the most comfortable stretches for touring gardens and battlefields, and fall foliage in the surrounding state parks generally peaks in mid to late October.
Winter narrows the options considerably. French Creek State Park stays open year-round and rents heated modern cabins and yurts through the cold months, while its tent and trailer campground operates on a shorter cool-weather schedule.

How to book a site
Private campgrounds near Paoli take direct reservations. Philadelphia / West Chester KOA Holiday books through the KOA website, app, and phone line, and Brandywine Creek Campground handles reservations by phone through its owner-operators. Call ahead for holiday weekends and for larger rigs, since some sites in the area are not level and access roads can be narrow with low branches.
For state parks, reservations go through the Pennsylvania State Parks and Forests Reservations system. Sites can be booked up to 11 months in advance, with a noon Eastern release time, and reservations must be made at least three days before arrival. French Creek fills quickly for summer weekends, so book several months out for standard sites and earlier for cabins, cottages, and yurts.
What to expect on the ground
The landscape around Paoli is rolling farmland and hardwood forest cut by creeks. Roads leading to rural campgrounds can be narrow and winding, and reviewers note low-hanging branches on the approach to Philadelphia / West Chester KOA Holiday along PA 162, so plan your route in advance if you are driving a taller Class A or fifth-wheel.
Expect full-hookup RV sites at Brandywine Creek Campground and a mix of RV sites, KOA Patio sites, and deluxe cabins at the KOA. State-park camping at French Creek offers electric, non-electric, and walk-in sites plus modern cabins, camping cottages, and yurts. Alcohol is prohibited in Pennsylvania state parks and quiet hours are enforced overnight.
Cell service is generally reliable across Chester County, and grocery stores, hardware stores, and propane are easy to find in Downingtown, West Chester, and along Route 30.
