For a public-land alternative, French Creek State Park in nearby Elverson offers electric and full-hookup sites plus cabins, cottages, and yurts, and is the largest state-run campground in the region.

Outdoor time centers on French Creek State Park, where visitors can swim, fish for smallmouth bass in Scotts Run Lake, and use more than 35 miles of forested trails on foot, by bike, or on horseback, plus a disc golf course. Adjacent Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site adds a self-guided walk through a preserved 19th-century iron plantation. Southeastern Pennsylvania has four distinct seasons. Most private campgrounds around Parkesburg operate roughly from spring through late fall, with peak demand from Memorial Day through Labor Day and again during fall foliage in October. Reservations are recommended, particularly on summer and October weekends.
Spring brings mud, blooming orchards, and variable temperatures. Summer is warm and humid with afternoon thunderstorms; shaded, wooded loops are worth requesting. Fall is the strongest window for comfortable RV weather: cool nights, dry days, and Lancaster County harvest events.
Winter camping is limited among private parks. At French Creek State Park, the main campground is open from March through the first weekend in January, while cabins and cottages can be booked throughout the year. Some campground loops open in late spring and close in October.

How to book campgrounds near Parkesburg
Private campgrounds around Parkesburg, including Birchview Farm Campgrounds, Birchview Farm Campground, The Loose Caboose Campground, and Roamers Retreat Campground, take reservations directly through their own websites. Lancaster / New Holland KOA Journey books through the KOA reservation system. Summer weekends, holiday weekends, and October foliage weekends fill first; booking two to three months out is a reasonable target, longer for holidays.

What to expect on site
Private parks near Parkesburg are generally family-oriented and set on former or working farmland, with a mix of pull-through and back-in sites, 30 and 50 amp electric, water, sewer at many sites, dump stations, laundry, playgrounds, and camp stores. Cell coverage is generally reliable across Chester and eastern Lancaster counties.
The hilly terrain influences campsite layout, with many locations offering partial shade from surrounding deciduous forest. Larger rigs should confirm site length and turning access when booking, especially at older farm-based campgrounds with narrow interior lanes.
While the surrounding area offers pastoral scenery and covered bridges, some locations experience noise from nearby highways or the Amtrak Keystone rail line. Pet policies, campfire rules, and quiet hours vary by property; check individual campground pages before arrival.
