Campgrounds near Parkville
Parkville is a census-designated place in York County, Pennsylvania, adjacent to the borough of Hanover in the state's south-central region. RV travelers use it as a practical base for southern York County and the Gettysburg area, with Baltimore about an hour south and Harrisburg less than an hour north.
Camping options within a short drive range from state-park sites at Codorus State Park on Lake Marburg to full-hookup private resorts. The 3,500-acre Codorus State Park is in the rolling hills of southern York County, and the 1,275-acre Lake Marburg has 26 miles of shoreline and is a rest stop for migrating waterfowl and shorebirds, making it the main public-land option near town. Gettysburg Farm RV Campground in Dover is a Thousand Trails property with a working-farm theme that appeals to families.
Additional nearby options include Cedar Lake Resort, Ben Franklin RV Park, and the Campground Island area, giving travelers a mix of lake-oriented public camping and amenity-heavy private parks within roughly 30 minutes of Parkville.
Things to do near Parkville
Lake Marburg at Codorus State Park anchors most outdoor plans. The lake is popular with sailboaters and motorboaters, and anglers love the lake for warm water fishing and can also fish Codorus Creek for trout. Picnicking, swimming in the pool, disc golfing, and camping are popular activities, and the park has hiking trails at varying difficulty.
Families staying at Gettysburg Farm RV Campground can pet and feed farm animals, use the swimming pool and playground, and take advantage of basketball, mini golf, horseshoes, and a game room on site. The Codorus State Park Gift Shop and Museum is a quick stop for park information and souvenirs.
Off-property, Gettysburg National Military Park is roughly a 40-minute drive west, and the Hanover area adds factory tours, farmers-market stops, and small-town dining within a short drive of Parkville.

Camping is seasonal, and the state park campground opens from the second Friday in April through to November 1st, so most spring, summer, and fall trips line up with an open Codorus State Park campground. Private resorts in the area tend to open earlier and stay open later, with some closing in late October after Halloween-themed weekends that draw heavy family bookings.
Summer is peak season. Warm, humid weather brings the biggest demand for lakeside sites, swimming, and boating, and holiday weekends fill first. Late spring and early fall are quieter, with milder temperatures and lower bug pressure, though September is the month with the highest precipitation in the Hanover area, averaging about 113 mm of rain.
Winter is cold and snowy in south-central Pennsylvania, and the state-park campground is closed during that window. RV travelers passing through in the colder months should confirm hookup availability and winterization status directly with any private park before booking.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Parkville, PA
How much does an RV rental in Parkville cost per night?
Renting an RV in Parkville is more affordable than most people expect, with peer-to-peer pricing typically running from $90 to $175 per night for travel trailers and campervans, and $185 to $325 per night for larger Class A and Class C motorhomes. Because Parkville sits in Penn Township just outside Hanover and a short hop from York, you'll find a healthy mix of local hosts competing on price. To score a cheap RV rental Parkville travelers love, book mid-week stays in April, May, or late September when demand drops but the weather is still gorgeous. Pro tip: hosts often discount weekly rentals by 10 to 20 percent, so even a six-night Pennsylvania Dutch Country trip can land below your weekend rate.
yorkpa.org/places-to-stay/camping-and-glamping/Do I need a special license to rent an RV in Parkville, PA?
Good news: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Parkville. Pennsylvania does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any RV-specific endorsement for the motorhomes, campervans, and travel trailers listed on RVezy, even for larger Class A rigs. You will need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy verifies your ID through the platform during booking, so there is no paperwork to drop off in person. Visiting from outside the US? Grab an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country's auto club before you fly in. Most first-time renters are surprised how quickly the verification process wraps up, often the same day you book.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat protection is included when I rent an RV in Parkville?
Every RV rental in Parkville booked through RVezy automatically includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the road knowing the essentials are covered. You choose your protection level during checkout, not the host, which means you decide how much peace of mind feels right for your family. The plan covers eligible damage to the RV during your trip and offers meaningful financial protection against the bumps and surprises that can happen on a Pennsylvania Dutch Country road trip. Pro tip: review the protection tiers on the booking page before you confirm, upgrading to a higher tier on a Class A motorhome rental Parkville is usually just a few dollars more per night.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Parkville RV rental?
Plans change, and RVezy gets that, which is why every booking is backed by a clear cancellation policy set by RVezy, not by individual hosts. There is a grace-period window after booking where you can cancel for a full refund, plus additional refund tiers based on how far out from your trip start date you cancel. If a host needs to cancel, RVezy works directly with you to provide a refund or travel credit so your plans stay on track. That makes booking your Parkville RV trip months in advance to lock in the best rigs feel low-risk rather than locked-in. Pro tip: book early for fall foliage season in York County, those weekends sell out fast but you will still have flexibility if life gets in the way.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Parkville RV rental?

Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when browsing listings and you'll see every host in the York County area who welcomes four-legged guests. Once you arrive, Codorus State Park has leashed-pet-friendly trails and shoreline at Lake Marburg, and nearby Rocky Ridge County Park in York has off-leash hours at its dog park. Pro tip: message the host before booking to mention your dog's size and breed, hosts genuinely appreciate the heads-up and it often unlocks personalized tips like nearby vet clinics or favorite dog-friendly hiking spots.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/CodorusStatePark/Pages/default.aspxCan the RV be delivered to my campground or home in Parkville?
Yes, RV delivery Parkville is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers who'd rather skip driving a big rig out of the gate. Many local hosts will deliver your motorhome or travel trailer directly to Codorus State Park, Gifford Pinchot State Park, or even your driveway in Penn Township, then level it, hook it up, and walk you through every system before they leave. Filter listings by Delivery to see hosts offering this service, with fees typically based on mileage from their location. Pro tip: delivery to Codorus State Park is a favorite combo since it's only about 15 minutes from Parkville, you can arrive by car, find your rig already set up, and start your trip relaxed.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/CodorusStatePark/Pages/Camping.aspxHow far can I travel on an RV road trip from Parkville?

Heading south, you can be at Baltimore's Inner Harbor in 50 miles or Washington, DC's outskirts in around 80 miles. dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/CodorusStatePark/Pages/default.aspxWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Parkville?
The sweet spot for RV camping Parkville is late April through late October, when daytime highs run a comfortable 65 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit and overnight lows stay above freezing. May and June bring lush green farmland and lighter campground crowds, July and August are peak family season with warm lake swimming at Codorus, and mid-October delivers some of the most jaw-dropping fall foliage in the mid-Atlantic across York and Adams counties. Winters in Parkville can dip into the 20s with occasional snow, so most private campgrounds close from November through March, though a few hosts rent winterized rigs year-round for Gettysburg history buffs and holiday travelers. Pro tip: book the second weekend of October for peak leaf-peeping on the back roads around Hanover.
weather.gov/ctp/I have never rented an RV before. What can I expect?
First time renting an RV? You're going to love how hands-on the RVezy experience is. Every host in the Parkville area gives a full walkthrough at pickup or delivery, showing you exactly how to operate the generator, slide-outs, water system, propane stove, and waste tanks, usually 30 to 60 minutes of in-person training. You can message your host directly through the platform before your trip with any questions, and many will even send a video orientation in advance. If something comes up on the road, 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every booking. Pro tip: choose a smaller Class C motorhome or campervan rental Parkville for your first trip, they drive much like a large van and park easily at Codorus State Park's pull-through sites.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Pages/default.aspxWhat happens if I have a breakdown or issue on the road?
Take a deep breath, because 24/7 roadside assistance is included with every RV rental in Parkville booked through RVezy. Whether you have a flat tire on US-30 near Gettysburg, a dead battery at a Hersheypark parking lot, or a propane question while parked at Gifford Pinchot State Park, one phone call gets help dispatched. RVezy's support team is also available around the clock to coordinate with your host, arrange repairs, or help you reroute if needed. Most issues on the road are minor and resolved within a couple of hours. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number and your host's contact info to your phone before you leave Parkville, you will feel that much more confident pulling onto I-83 or US-15.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my Parkville RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, your motorhome rental Parkville is built for interstate adventure, and most hosts happily allow travel throughout the continental US. From Parkville you can easily reach Maryland (just 8 miles south), West Virginia, Virginia, New York, and New Jersey, all popular routes from this corner of York County. Cross-border travel into Canada may be possible with advance approval from your host and confirmation of insurance coverage, so message them through the listing before booking if Canada is on your itinerary. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. Pro tip: a Parkville-to-Niagara Falls round trip is about 320 miles each way, doable in a long weekend with overnight stops at Watkins Glen State Park in New York.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goHow much should I budget for fuel on a Parkville RV trip?
Fuel is usually the biggest variable in your trip budget, but it's easy to plan for. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 miles per gallon (mpg), Class C motorhomes run 8 to 14 mpg, and Class A coaches typically get 6 to 10 mpg. Pennsylvania gas prices tend to hover around the national average, with stations along US-30 and PA-94 near Parkville offering the most competitive prices, while highway-adjacent stations on I-83 run a bit higher. For a 300-mile round trip in a Class C at 10 mpg, you're looking at roughly $110 to $130 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up at the Sheetz or Rutter's locations in Hanover before heading out, they're consistently among the lowest-priced and the lots are big enough for any RV to pull through.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book a campground near Parkville?
For the most popular spots, book your campground as soon as your RV rental Pennsylvania dates are locked in. Pennsylvania state parks like Codorus and Gifford Pinchot release reservations up to 11 months in advance through the Pennsylvania DCNR reservation system, and waterfront sites at Codorus often disappear within hours for summer weekends. Private campgrounds like Round Top in Gettysburg and Drummer Boy fill up 2 to 4 months ahead for July and October weekends. Mid-week stays are usually available even just a week out, so spontaneous trips are still possible. Pro tip: if Codorus is full, check Gifford Pinchot State Park or Pinchot's overflow loops, they're only 30 to 40 minutes from Parkville and often have last-minute openings.
pennsylvaniastateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are the driving conditions like around Parkville?
Driving an RV around Parkville is refreshingly straightforward. The area is mostly rolling farmland with two-lane state routes like PA-94 and PA-194 connecting Hanover, Gettysburg, and York, and the wider US-30 corridor handles RVs of any size with ease. I-83 runs just a few miles east of Parkville if you're heading to Harrisburg or Baltimore. Watch for occasional Amish horse-and-buggy traffic on rural roads east toward Lancaster, slow down and pass with plenty of room. Winter brings occasional snow and ice from December through February, so most travelers stick to April through November. Pro tip: avoid the cluster of low-clearance railroad bridges in downtown York by sticking to US-30 and I-83 instead of cutting through the city, your 11-foot-tall motorhome will thank you.

Most listings include linens, cookware, and outdoor chairs as standard. Larger Class A and Class C motorhomes usually add a TV, generator, awning, and slide-outs for extra living space, while campervans focus on efficient layouts and easy driving. Wi-Fi varies, some hosts include mobile hotspots while others leave connectivity to your phone plan. Pro tip: check the listing photos for seatbelt counts if you're traveling with a family, every passenger needs a belted seat while the RV is moving on Pennsylvania highways.

Common options include camp chairs and outdoor tables, propane refills, generator packages, bike racks, kids' bedding kits, kitchen starter packs, and even portable grills. Pickup and drop-off windows are set by each host and shown on the listing, with flexible times often available if you ask. Mileage allowances vary by listing, with some hosts offering unlimited mileage packages. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a propane fill upfront, it usually costs less than booking each piece separately.

A refundable security deposit is held separately and returned after your trip wraps up cleanly, assuming there is no damage or excessive cleaning needed. Deposit amounts vary by rig size and host. help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I park an RV in Parkville for overnight stays outside of campgrounds?
While campgrounds are the best bet for a comfortable night, you do have legal overnight options around Parkville. Several Walmart locations in the broader Hanover and York area permit overnight RV parking with manager approval, including the Walmart Supercenter on Wilson Avenue in Hanover. Cracker Barrel locations along US-30 also commonly welcome overnight RVers as a courtesy. Pennsylvania welcome centers and rest areas along I-83 allow short rest stops but not extended overnight camping. For a more scenic stop, Codorus State Park's overnight campsites are just 15 minutes from Parkville and worth the small fee. Pro tip: always call ahead to confirm overnight parking is currently allowed at any retail lot, policies change by location and manager, and arriving by 8 PM avoids surprises.
