Campgrounds near Pringle, Pennsylvania
Pringle is a small borough in Luzerne County, on the western bank of the Susquehanna River and less than five miles from Wilkes-Barre. That position puts RV travelers within easy reach of state parks in the Wyoming Valley, the northern Poconos, and the Endless Mountains, with I-81 and PA Route 309 running close by.
The closest public campground is at Frances Slocum State Park, which consists of 1,035 acres in northeastern Pennsylvania's Luzerne County and centers on a horseshoe-shaped, 165-acre lake popular for boating and fishing. Private options fan out from there: Highland Campgrounds sits nearby in the Back Mountain area, while Lehigh Gorge Campground, Council Cup Campground, and Moyers Grove Campground pull travelers south and east toward the Lehigh River and the Susquehanna.
Most sites in the area accommodate travel trailers and motorhomes, with a mix of full-hookup, electric-only, and primitive tent options. Reservation windows and open seasons vary by operator, so travelers should confirm details before towing in.
Things to do near Pringle
Water recreation anchors most trips. Frances Slocum State Park offers multiple hiking trails through varied habitats, and the lake supports kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. A swimming pool, boat launch, and kayak and canoe rentals operate in season for visitors.
South toward the Lehigh River, Lehigh Gorge Campground puts travelers close to Lehigh Gorge State Park and Hickory Run State Park for hiking, biking, fishing, and whitewater rafting. The D&L Trail follows the old rail bed through the gorge and is popular for cycling.
Council Cup Campground spans 400 acres with a 25-foot waterfall and miles of scenic hiking trails, and Moyers Grove Campground adds an in-ground pool, mini-golf, and fishing, along with ponds and paddle boats. Wilkes-Barre, roughly ten minutes east, covers restaurants, groceries, and hospitals for longer trips.

Camping in northeastern Pennsylvania is largely a warm-season activity. Frances Slocum State Park's 100-site campground is available from mid-April to mid-October. Council Cup Campground is open from April through November. Private parks like Moyers Grove operate on a longer season, though services thin out beyond the summer months.
Summer is the peak. Weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day fill quickly, and holiday weekends should be booked several months in advance. Weekday arrivals are noticeably easier to secure. Fall brings cooler nights, foliage color across the Endless Mountains, and Halloween-themed events at private campgrounds like Moyers Grove.
Winter operations are limited. State park campgrounds close, and many private campgrounds shift to seasonal-camper-only status with reduced amenities. Spring reopenings often begin in mid-April, but overnight temperatures can still drop below freezing, so RVers should plan for cold-weather water lines and pack accordingly.

How to book near Pringle
Frances Slocum State Park uses the Pennsylvania DCNR reservation system. Reservations can be made for today and up to 11 months in advance. Bookings can be made online or by calling toll-free 888-PA-PARKS (888-727-2757), from 7:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday to Saturday.
Private campgrounds handle their own reservations. Highland Campgrounds, Lehigh Gorge Campground, Council Cup Campground, and Moyers Grove Campground each take bookings by phone or through their own websites. Summer weekends and any weekend tied to a holiday, race at Pocono Raceway, or seasonal event should be locked in well ahead.
Before booking, verify site length limits, hookup type, and pet rules. RV length caps vary by park, and some loops are electric-only with no sewer.
What to expect near Pringle
Terrain in the area is hilly and wooded. Interior campground roads are often gravel and can be uneven after heavy rain, so slow speeds and careful site selection help with leveling. Sites at state parks tend to be shaded and wooded, while private parks mix shaded seasonal sites with more open pull-throughs for transient RVs.
Cell service is inconsistent across the region. Some private campgrounds carry only limited carrier coverage; Moyers Grove notes that the only cellphone service on site is Verizon, AT&T, and Straight Talk, and the campground does not offer cable or Wi-Fi.
Amenities vary widely by property. Frances Slocum's campground has flush toilets, showers, drinking water, a sanitary dump station, and a boat launch, but no full hookups. Council Cup offers water, electric, and sewer sites with 30 and 50 amp hookups, and Moyers Grove adds a pool, camp store, laundry, and playgrounds alongside RV, tent, and cabin sites.
