History day trips include Washington Crossing State Park, NJ, which offers roughly 13 miles of moderate trails, a visitor center museum with Revolutionary War artifacts, the restored Johnson Ferry House, and a seasonal observatory open Friday evenings from April through October.

The greater Philadelphia camping season runs largely spring through fall. Most private campgrounds in the area remain accessible from April or May through October, with a limited number of parks open year-round. Suburban RV parks that cater to long-term residents, including Village Scene Park, stay open across the calendar, while family-oriented resorts operate on a defined season. Lake Kandle is a clear example of a seasonal park: the campground opens on the last Friday of April and closes on the first Sunday of October, and it runs almost entirely on seasonal contracts, so nightly RV availability there is very limited. Washington Crossing State Park, NJ has had extended camping closures tied to visitor center construction and other improvement projects, so campers should confirm status before planning a stay. Summer weekends and fall foliage weeks are the busiest windows in the region. Advance reservations are essential during summer and peak foliage weekends, when Philadelphia-area RV campgrounds fill quickly. Winter travel is possible in year-round parks, but expect freezing nights and occasional snow.

Sites in this region range from tight suburban hookup parks to wooded lakefront resorts. Village Scene Park is compact and residential in feel, with about 32 full-hookup sites arranged along parallel pavement strips, a 45-foot rig-length cap, and on-site laundry, showers, and a dump station. Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA Holiday offers a wider set of resort amenities suited to travel trailers and fifth wheels. Rules vary by park. Lake Kandle is strictly for RV, motorhome, and pop-up camping, with no tents permitted and no pets allowed on the property. Group camping at Washington Crossing State Park, NJ is primitive, with picnic tables, fire rings, and composting toilets but no water or electric utilities on site. For bridge routing, note that the Washington Crossing Bridge has a 3-ton limit and is not passable by buses, large trucks, or campers, so travelers from PA must use the Route 202 or I-295 bridges into NJ.
