Campgrounds near Springmont, Pennsylvania
Springmont sits in Spring Township, Berks County, along U.S. Route 422 just west of Reading and next to West Wyomissing. The location puts RV travelers within a short drive of two overlapping camping regions: the Reading and Berks County area to the north, and Lancaster County's Pennsylvania Dutch Country to the south. Most named campgrounds sit off the U.S. 222 corridor and near PA Turnpike Exit 286, keeping approach roads flat and manageable for towed rigs.
Private RV parks dominate the choices close to Springmont. Sills Campgrounds in Mohnton, Shady Grove Campground in Denver, and Sun Valley RV Campground in Bowmansville all cluster within a few miles of one another off Route 272 and Route 897. A little farther south, Adventure Bound Oak Creek and Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Oak Creek in Narvon serve the same Lancaster County traffic.
Expect full-hookup sites with 30 and 50 amp service, pull-throughs sized for big rigs, heated pools, and cabin rentals across most of these parks. Public state park camping is not the primary option in this immediate area; travelers looking for state-run sites typically head to French Creek State Park, while Blue Marsh Lake serves nearby day use.
Things to do near Springmont
Adamstown, marketed as the Antiques Capital of the U.S., anchors weekend browsing at Shupp's Grove, Stoudtburg Village, and Renninger's. Maple Grove Raceway hosts NHRA drag racing and other motorsport events within minutes of Sills Campgrounds and Sun Valley RV Campground. Reading offers the Reading Public Museum, Nolde Forest Environmental Education Center, and the Schuylkill River Trail for cycling.
Families typically pair a Springmont-area stay with day trips into Lancaster County Amish Country. Common stops include Kitchen Kettle Village in Intercourse, the Strasburg Rail Road steam ride, the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, and Dutch Wonderland amusement park near Lancaster. Hersheypark sits roughly an hour west. French Creek State Park and Blue Marsh Lake add hiking, swimming, and boating for a day out of the campground.

Most private campgrounds in this corridor operate on a seasonal calendar rather than year-round. Shady Grove Campground opens around April 1 and closes at the end of October, and Adventure Bound Oak Creek and Sun Valley RV Campground follow similar spring-through-fall schedules, with themed weekends and Halloween events driving heavy October demand. Sills Campgrounds runs a comparable season, though shoulder months can bring cold nights and occasional late-March or early-April snow.
Summer is the peak stretch, from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Weekends fill quickly, especially around the Fourth of July, Maple Grove Raceway race dates, and antique-market weekends in the Adamstown area. Two-night minimums on weekends and three-night minimums on holiday weekends are standard at the larger resorts.
Fall is popular with families for foliage, pumpkin patches, and Halloween weekends at Shady Grove Campground and Adventure Bound Oak Creek. Winter camping is limited: pools and most amenities close, and many parks shut entirely from November through March, so travelers should confirm dates directly with each operator before booking.

How to book near Springmont
Private campgrounds near Springmont are booked directly through each park's website or by phone. Sills Campgrounds, Shady Grove Campground, Sun Valley RV Campground, and both Adventure Bound Oak Creek listings accept online reservations, with peak-season weekends often filling several weeks or months in advance. Holiday weekends around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day book earliest.
Weekend stays typically require a two-night minimum, and holiday weekends a three-night minimum. Cancellation windows vary by park, so confirm terms at the time of booking, particularly for cabin rentals, which usually require longer notice than RV sites.
Pennsylvania state park camping in the wider region is reserved through the DCNR reservation system online or by calling 888-PA-PARKS. Pennsylvania state parks do not charge an entrance fee, which makes them useful low-cost day-trip options from a private-park base.
What to expect on the ground
Sites at Sills Campgrounds, Shady Grove Campground, and Sun Valley RV Campground are generally level with gravel or stone pads, with pull-throughs available and enough length for big rigs and slide-outs. Full hookups including 30 and 50 amp electric, water, sewer, and cable are standard at the larger resorts. Wi-Fi is offered but coverage varies by site.
Amenities lean family-oriented. Expect heated outdoor pools, playgrounds, camp stores, laundry, clean bathhouses, and planned weekend activities such as hayrides, movie nights, and themed events. Shady Grove Campground adds a splash pad, and Sun Valley RV Campground has a stocked fishing pond on the property.
Roads in and out follow the PA Turnpike, U.S. 222, and PA Routes 272, 625, and 897. Approaches are straightforward for towed rigs, though some campground entrances are easy to miss at night, so daylight arrival is recommended for a first visit.

Booking is low-risk, so you can plan with confidence. help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Springmont RV trip?
Absolutely, your pup is welcome on plenty of trips. Once you are rolling, Lebanon County is fantastic for dogs: Memorial Lake State Park just north of Springmont allows leashed pets on trails, and Swatara State Park's rail-trail is a paw-friendly favorite. Many Hershey-area private campgrounds, including Hersheypark Camping Resort, also welcome dogs at designated sites. Pro tip: pack a collapsible water bowl and a long lead so your dog can lounge outside the RV while you fire up the grill at camp.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/FindAPark/MemorialLakeStatePark/Pages/default.aspxCan the RV be delivered to my campground near Springmont?
Yes, and it is a game-changer for first-time renters. Many RVezy hosts near Springmont offer RV delivery: they will tow or drive the rig to your campground, set up leveling and hookups, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. This is perfect if you are staying at Hersheypark Camping Resort, Hershey / Jonestown KOA, or one of the Pennsylvania Dutch Country private parks where you would rather skip the towing learning curve. To find it fast, use the Delivery filter on RVezy and check each listing's delivery radius and per-mile fee. Pro tip: bundle delivery with a generator or bedding add-on so everything is set up and waiting when you arrive.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Springmont%2C%20PennsylvaniaHow does mileage work, and how far can I drive from Springmont?
Mileage is flexible, and Springmont's central location makes a little fuel go a long way. Each RVezy host sets their own mileage policy, with many offering 100 to 150 free miles per night and some listing RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is ideal for longer loops. From Springmont, you can reach Hersheypark in about 20 miles, Lancaster's Amish Country in about 35 miles, Gettysburg battlefields in about 60 miles, the Pocono Mountains in roughly 90 miles, and Philadelphia in about 100 miles. Pro tip: if you are planning a longer Pennsylvania RV trip, filter listings by unlimited mileage or message hosts to negotiate a mileage package up front. It almost always beats paying per-mile overage at the end.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Springmont%2C%20PennsylvaniaWhere are the best campgrounds near Springmont, PA?
You are spoiled for choice within an hour's drive. Top picks for RV camping Springmont travelers rave about include Hersheypark Camping Resort in Hummelstown (full hookups and a free shuttle to Hersheypark), Hershey / Jonestown KOA Holiday a short drive from Springmont (pool, mini-golf, easy I-81 access), Lickdale Campground right off Exit 90 of I-81 (pull-thru sites with 50-amp service), and Memorial Lake State Park near Fort Indiantown Gap for quiet, lakeside sites. For a Pennsylvania Dutch experience, Old Mill Stream Campground in Lancaster is about a 40-minute drive south. Pro tip: book Hershey-area sites 4 to 6 months ahead for summer weekends, especially Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day, when they sell out fast.
koa.com/campgrounds/hershey/When is the best time of year for a Springmont RV trip?
Late April through mid-October is prime time, and each season has its own magic. Spring (April to May) brings 60 to 75 degree days, blooming dogwoods, and quieter campgrounds. Summer (June through August) is the peak family season with warm 80 to 88 degree afternoons, perfect for Hersheypark and lake swimming, though humidity climbs. Early fall (mid-September to late October) is a local favorite: crisp 55 to 72 degree weather, brilliant foliage along the Appalachian ridges, and fewer crowds. Winters dip into the 20s and 30s with occasional snow, but a four-season RV with heated tanks makes a cozy Hershey holiday lights getaway totally doable. Pro tip: book October weekends by mid-summer; leaf-peepers fill central PA campgrounds fast.
weather.gov/ctp/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay?
You are going to be just fine. First time renting an RV in Springmont? Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through generator, slide-outs, water, propane, dump valves, and driving tips so nothing is a mystery. They are also a text away during your trip if you have questions. Many Springmont-area hosts recommend Class C motorhomes or smaller travel trailers for beginners since they handle much like a large SUV. Stick to roads like US-422 and PA-72 for your first few miles before tackling I-81. Pro tip: choose a host with strong ratings and reviews mentioning the word patient. That is a good signal you will get a thorough, judgment-free walkthrough.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if the RV breaks down during my trip?
You are never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on I-78, a dead battery at Memorial Lake, or an engine warning light near Hersheypark is just one phone call away from help. Roadside can dispatch a tire change, jump start, fuel delivery, lockout service, or tow to a qualified repair shop. Your host is also a great first call for quirks specific to their RV. Pro tip: save the RVezy roadside number in your phone before you leave the driveway, and snap a photo of your VIN and license plate. It speeds things up enormously if you ever need it.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Springmont RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Cross-state RV road trips from Springmont are absolutely encouraged. Most hosts welcome travel throughout the lower 48, so you can easily plan loops through Maryland's Chesapeake Bay, West Virginia's New River Gorge, or up to New York's Finger Lakes. Travel into Canada is sometimes allowed but depends on the host's approval and insurance, so message them directly from the listing before booking if it is part of your plan. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there. Pro tip: popular RV road trip routes from Springmont include the drive to Niagara Falls, a cruise to the Washington D.C. area, and a long weekend loop through the Poconos and Catskills.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage should I expect, and where do I fill up?
Budgeting fuel is easier than you would think. A campervan rental Springmont travelers pick averages 18 to 22 MPG, a Class C motorhome runs 8 to 12 MPG, and a Class A coach gets 6 to 9 MPG. Towing a travel trailer with your own truck typically lands around 10 to 14 MPG. Pennsylvania gas prices generally track close to the national average, with diesel slightly higher; you will find easy fill-ups at the Pilot and Love's truck stops near I-81 Exit 90 in Jonestown (big-rig friendly with high-clearance pumps). Pro tip: download GasBuddy and route your fuel stops through Wawa or Sheetz in central PA. They often price lower than highway brands and many have RV-accessible pumps.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book a campsite near Springmont?
Earlier is better. Pennsylvania State Parks open reservations months in advance through the official PA state parks reservation system, so for Memorial Lake or Swatara State Park summer weekends, book the moment your dates open. Private parks like Hersheypark Camping Resort and Hershey / Jonestown KOA take reservations year-round; aim for 3 to 6 months out for July, August, and fall foliage weekends. Midweek and shoulder season? You can often snag a spot 1 to 2 weeks ahead. Pro tip: if a weekend looks fully booked, check back Sunday evenings. Cancellations from prior-week guests often free up prime sites, and you can grab them within minutes.
pennsylvaniastateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are the local driving conditions like around Springmont?
Driving an RV around Springmont is very manageable, even for newer renters. The area sits in the gentle Lebanon Valley between Blue Mountain and South Mountain, with rolling farmland and well-paved two-lanes like US-422, PA-72, and PA-934 that are comfortable for any motorhome rental Springmont guests choose. I-78 and I-81 are the main highways, both wide and RV-friendly, though watch for truck traffic during weekday rush hours. Stick to the right lane on the climb up Blue Mountain near Lickdale. Winter can bring snow and ice from December through February, so most renters travel April through November. Pro tip: avoid backroads through Amish country at dusk; horse-drawn buggies share the road and visibility drops fast.
penndot.pa.gov/TravelInPA/Pages/default.aspxWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Springmont?
Central Pennsylvania campgrounds are very well equipped. Most private parks near Springmont, including Hersheypark Camping Resort, Hershey / Jonestown KOA, and Lickdale Campground, offer full hookups (water, 30/50 amp electric, sewer), Wi-Fi, hot showers, laundry, dump stations, and potable water fill-ups. Pennsylvania State Parks like Memorial Lake and Swatara offer modern restrooms and electric sites, though sewer hookups at the site are less common. Need to dump and refill mid-trip? The Flying J / Pilot area in Jonestown has public RV dump and freshwater fill options just off I-81 Exit 90. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose and a sewer hose support; some PA sites place hookups farther from the pad than you would expect.
dcnr.pa.gov/StateParks/Camping/Pages/default.aspxWhat's actually inside the RV I'm renting?
You will be impressed by how complete modern RVs are. A typical RV rental in Springmont comes with sleeping for 4 to 8 (queen bed, convertible dinette, bunk or sofa bed), a kitchen with fridge/freezer, microwave, 3-burner propane stove and sink, a bathroom with toilet and shower, roof A/C, propane furnace, and seatbelts for every traveling passenger. Many include a TV, and some hosts offer Wi-Fi hotspots, onboard generators, or solar as add-ons. Hosts commonly include bedding, kitchen kits, and outdoor chairs too. Pro tip: read the listing's full amenity list carefully, then message the host to confirm anything you cannot live without (coffee maker, high chair, outdoor shower). Most are happy to set it up before pickup.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Springmont%2C%20PennsylvaniaWhat add-ons and pickup options can I expect from Springmont hosts?
Hosts make customization easy. Common add-ons for a Springmont RV trip include generator use, bedding and linen packs, kitchen kits, bike racks, outdoor grills, tow accessories, and pet cleaning fees. Many hosts also offer pre-trip propane fills and dump/return services so you can hand back the keys without a chore list. Pickup is usually at the host's home in the Lebanon, Hershey, Annville, or Palmyra area, but delivery within 30 to 50 miles is widely available. Mileage policies range from 100 free miles per night to unlimited. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and bedding into one quote up front so your final price is locked in with no surprises at drop-off.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Springmont%2C%20PennsylvaniaHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple, secure, and fully handled through RVezy, so you never need to hand cash or a check to a host. You will pay your rental total (nightly rate, fees, taxes, and any add-ons) by credit or debit card when you book. A refundable security deposit is also pre-authorized on your card close to your trip start; the exact amount is shown on the listing and depends on the RV. As long as you return the RV in the same condition you received it, the deposit is released after drop-off. Pro tip: take date-stamped photos and a quick video walk-around at both pickup and return. It is the single best way to protect your full deposit and avoid any back-and-forth.
