Camping near Tatamy, Pennsylvania
Tatamy is a small borough in Northampton County, positioned between Easton, Bethlehem, and Nazareth in the Lehigh Valley. RV travelers use it as a jumping-off point for eastern Pennsylvania camping, with access to Route 33, Route 22, and I-78. The surrounding region sits between the Pocono Mountains to the north and the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area to the east, providing camping environments that range from wooded mountain settings to riverside locations.
Closest to town, Evergreen Lake Campground sits in Bath, roughly fifteen minutes northwest. Established in 1965 on a 300-acre site at the base of Blue Mountain, Evergreen Lake has a 25-acre lake and 250 wooded campsites with water, sewer, electric, and cable TV hookups. Further north near Bangor, Camp Charles Campgrounds and Hickory Lake Campground sit at the foot of the Blue Mountain ridge, both convenient to Delaware Water Gap trailheads.
For Bucks County trips, Ringing Rocks Family Campground in Upper Black Eddy puts campers close to the Delaware River and Ringing Rocks County Park. Mountainview Campground rounds out the local options for RV renters looking for a shorter drive from Tatamy.
Things to do near Tatamy
The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area anchors most outdoor plans, with river paddling, waterfall hikes, and Appalachian Trail access along the ridge. Ringing Rocks County Park in Bucks County draws day-trippers to its boulder field, where struck stones ring like bells, and a short trail leads to High Falls.
Families staying at Evergreen Lake Campground can fish on-site. The 25-acre lake and adjacent pond are stocked with trout, bass, catfish, and sunfish, and the property offers fee fishing without a Pennsylvania license. Farther afield, Hickory Run State Park serves as the launch point for hiking its boulder field, a National Natural Landmark, and for reaching the Lehigh Gorge for rafting and rail-trail biking. Historic Jim Thorpe, Bethlehem's SteelStacks, and Crayola Experience in Easton add rainy-day options.

Most private campgrounds in the area run a spring-to-fall season. Evergreen Lake Campground operates from mid-April through mid-October, with full-hookup and tent options in a wooded setting near Blue Mountain. Most other campgrounds in the region operate seasonally as well, typically closing between late October and early April due to winter conditions.
Summer is peak season across eastern Pennsylvania. Weekends fill quickly at both private parks and state parks, especially around Fourth of July and Labor Day. Fall is the second high-demand window: October brings peak foliage across the Pocono and Laurel Highlands regions, and weekend availability tightens well in advance. Cooler nights make this a good time for RVers who prefer milder daytime hiking weather, though some park amenities transition from modern to non-flush facilities as the warm season ends.
Winter camping is limited. A handful of private RV resorts stay open year-round for self-contained rigs, but expect water service shutoffs during hard freezes and check road conditions before hauling into the Poconos.

Great weekend getaway!
Kami A. - Nov 2024
Great vehicle and friendly owners. This compact camper has a lot of creature comforts while allowing one to maneuver and park in regular parking lots. The van is really easy to drive and handles really nice. The beds were comfortable and IMO accommodate 2 adults (top bed) and 1 adult or 2 kids in the lower bed. We were able to use the bike rack, too, and that worked great for a road bike and mountain bike (I think 2 mountain bikes might not fit unless the handle bars were turned on 1 of them). We didn't use the, generator, heater, hot water, shower, sink, microwave or toilet so I can't comment on them but I wish we rented it longer so we could've taken advantage of all this van has to offer. We would absolutely rent again.

Great holiday weekend in Dalton's camper! He was an amazing host, and everything was as described. We had the camper delivered and picked up by Mike, who was also awesome! Thanks for a great weekend!
Stephanie H. - Sep 2026
Dalton's Jayco is the perfect option for a small family. There's plenty of sleeping options for the kids, and the tub is a great bonus for bath time. The camper is well maintained and everything was functional. Delivery and pick up to the site went smoothly. We're hoping it's available next year too!

How to book a campsite
Private campgrounds around Tatamy each use their own reservation channels. Ringing Rocks Family Campground takes bookings through Campspot, while Evergreen Lake, Camp Charles, Hickory Lake, and Mountainview generally take reservations by phone or through their own websites. Popular summer weekends and holidays sell out weeks in advance, so book early and confirm site length if bringing a larger rig.
For state parks in the region, reservations run through the Pennsylvania state parks system at pennsylvaniastateparks.reserveamerica.com, bookable up to 11 months ahead. The release window opens at noon Eastern Time, which is unusual among state systems. Full-hookup RV sites remain limited across the state park network, so most loops still offer electric-only or electric-and-water service; plan dump-station stops accordingly.
What to expect on site
Private parks near Tatamy skew toward long-season and seasonal-heavy layouts. Camp Charles, Hickory Lake, and Ringing Rocks all host a significant number of seasonal sites alongside transient RV and tent spots, so weekday atmospheres can be quiet. Expect gravel pads, picnic tables, and fire rings at most sites, with pools, camp stores, and game rooms at the larger parks.
Hookups vary. Evergreen Lake offers full hookups with cable TV at many sites, while some smaller parks provide water and electric only with a central dump station. Cell coverage is inconsistent in wooded pockets, and Wi-Fi is often limited to the office or clubhouse.
Black bears, deer, and raccoons are common in the surrounding hills, so store food securely and follow each park's pet rules, which typically require leashes and specific loop assignments.
