Campgrounds and RV parks near Valley Green, PA

Valley Green is a small community in Newberry Township, northern York County, Pennsylvania, roughly 25 minutes from Harrisburg and just off Interstate 83. Its location in the Susquehanna River corridor makes it a practical base for RV travelers exploring south-central Pennsylvania, with Hershey, Lancaster, and Gettysburg all within an hour's drive. The closest options span both private RV parks and a large state park campground. Gifford Pinchot State Park sits about 10 miles west and provides one of the largest state park campgrounds in the commonwealth, with 289 sites along a 340-acre lake. Private choices include Harrisburg East Campground north of the river, Elizabethtown / Hershey KOA Holiday and Hersheypark Camping Resort to the east near Hershey, and Bainbridge Rock Quarry Campground to the south along the Susquehanna. The mix suits different trip styles: full-hookup pull-throughs for travelers passing through, family-focused resorts for theme-park visits, and a lakeside state park for swimming, boating, and trail time.

State and private sites use different systems. Gifford Pinchot State Park is reserved through the Pennsylvania State Parks reservation portal, with a booking window of up to 11 months out and a minimum lead time of 3 days. Campers may stay in a state park campground up to 14 consecutive nights from Memorial Day to Labor Day, with a longer limit outside that period. Private parks book directly. Hersheypark Camping Resort takes reservations on its own website and bundles optional Hersheypark ticket packages during checkout. Harrisburg East Campground, Elizabethtown / Hershey KOA Holiday, and Bainbridge Rock Quarry Campground each accept direct reservations by phone or through their listing pages. For summer weekends and holidays, book several months in advance; midweek stays are usually easier to secure on shorter notice.
