Campgrounds and RV parks near Benavides, TX

Benavides sits in Duval County in the brush country of South Texas, roughly an hour and a half inland from the Gulf Coast at Corpus Christi. The town is small and rural, with State Highway 359 running through it toward Alice and San Diego to the northeast and Hebbronville to the southwest. RV travelers typically use Benavides as a quiet base for fishing trips on Lake Corpus Christi, day trips to the coast, or as an overnight stop between Laredo and the coast on Highway 359. RV options in the area range from small private parks in the surrounding ranchland to full-hookup resorts and a large state park farther east. Countryside RV Park of South Texas and CM Nature's Own RV Resort serve travelers looking for hookups close to Benavides, while Wilderness Lakes RV Resort offers a resort-style stay in the region. For public-land camping, Opossum Bend - Lake Corpus Christi State Park provides electric and water sites about 45 minutes northeast, and Corpus Christi Sunrise Beach puts renters within reach of the Gulf shoreline.

Sites at Opossum Bend, part of Lake Corpus Christi State Park, are reserved through the Texas Parks and Wildlife reservation system on the state park website or by phone. Most campsite categories can be booked up to five months in advance, and popular weekends between March and Memorial Day tend to sell out early. A separate day-use entrance fee applies per person 13 and older, and overnight guests must be inside the gate before it closes at 10 p.m. Private parks such as Countryside RV Park of South Texas, CM Nature's Own RV Resort, and Wilderness Lakes RV Resort typically book directly through the park or through an RV-rental platform. For winter stays, contact private parks well ahead, since long-term Winter Texan reservations reduce nightly availability.
