Motorhome was just as advertised. Absolutely no issues and owner provided an excellent orientation. Would certainly rent again from Mark

First time renters. The website is good, easy to navigate. Mark (the owner) was also easy to deal with. The machine we rented however was not as advertised. It ran well, drive train was good and handled as one would expect. Certainly got us there and back fine and we drove over 3000 kms with it. Upon pick up we were told the awning was not operable and this turned out to be very unfortunate due to weather. It rained the first 2 days and 5 nights of our week long trip to Vancouver island. Vacationing on an island we fully expected to get wet (from NL originally so well suited to wet weather) but the camper leaked on both ends leaving the kids in the overhead bunk wet and myself and my wife wet each night and morning. Extra laundry daily hampered our time as well as the discomfort of waking up wet and having to dry out. The water pump also worked when it wanted to so thank god the campsite we had offered showers and toilets. I also would have expected the camper to be sanitized before we picked up but we had to clean it ourselves and sanitize before we left. I have to say the accommodations were not worth the cost in the end. Bad experience all round and I do not recommend this machine unless your not concerned about cleanliness, dryness or hygiene.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Olds, AB
How much does an RV rental in Olds cost?
Good news: an RV rental in Olds is one of the more affordable ways to explore central Alberta and the Rockies. On RVezy, motorhomes near Olds, AB average around $200 CAD per night, while travel trailers and towables come in closer to $120 CAD per night. Most hosts offer 10 to 20 percent discounts on weekly and monthly bookings, which adds up fast on a Banff or Jasper loop. For a cheap RV rental in Olds, search midweek dates in May or September and filter by towable trailers if a host can deliver. Pro tip: pair an Olds rental with a stay at a free Alberta Forestry random camping area west of Sundre to stretch your budget further.
alberta.ca/random-camping-on-public-landWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Olds, AB?
Great news for first-time renters: a regular Class 5 Alberta driver's license (or your equivalent from another province, state, or country) is all you need to rent an RV in Olds. No special RV endorsement or commercial license is required for the motorhomes, campervans, and travel trailers listed on RVezy. You'll need to be 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your ID right inside the booking flow, so there's nothing to mail or fax. Visiting from overseas? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit from your local auto club. Most renters are surprised how quickly the verification clears, often the same day you book.
alberta.ca/class-5-drivers-licenceIs protection included when I rent an RV in Olds?
Yes, every RV rental in Olds, AB booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you are covered from the moment you drive off. The protection plan helps cover accidental damage to the RV during your trip, giving you real peace of mind on highways like the QE2 and Highway 1A. During checkout you will choose from RVezy's protection plan tiers, so you can pick the level of coverage that fits your trip. Hosts do not pick this for you; it is your call. Pro tip: if you are heading into the Rockies, the higher tiers are popular for the extra cushion on mountain passes.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Olds RV rental?
Booking is low-risk: RVezy (not the host) sets a clear cancellation policy that applies to every Olds RV rental, including a grace period right after you book so you can lock in dates with confidence. Refund amounts after that window depend on how far out your trip is and the specific policy on your booking. Because the policy is managed by RVezy directly, the terms are consistent and not set by individual hosts. Pro tip: book early for the July long weekend and the Olds Fair and Rodeo, then relax knowing the grace period has your back if plans shift soon after booking.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an RV rental in Olds?
Absolutely, a pet-friendly RV rental in Olds is easy to find. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see hosts who welcome dogs (and sometimes cats) right in the listing. Many Olds-area hosts are ranchers and acreage owners themselves, so they get it. Once you're rolling, your pup will love the off-leash trails at Olds Lions Campground green space and the Rosebud Creek walking paths in neighbouring Didsbury. Alberta Provincial Parks also allow leashed pets at campgrounds like Dickson Point at Gleniffer Lake. Pro tip: message the host before booking to mention your dog's size and breed; it speeds up approval and often unlocks tips on the best dog-friendly trails along your route.
albertaparks.ca/albertaparksca/visit-our-parks/pets-in-parks/Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in Olds?
Yes, RV delivery in Olds is one of the most popular options, especially for first-timers who would rather skip towing or driving a big rig. Many Olds-area hosts will deliver the motorhome or trailer right to your campsite or acreage, then level it, hook it up, and walk you through everything before they leave. Delivery fees are set by each host and usually scale with distance, so a drop at a campground a few minutes from town will cost less than a delivery to Gleniffer Lake or Sundre. Pro tip: filter by Delivery on RVezy, then message two or three hosts with your exact campground address to compare quotes quickly.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Olds%2C%20AlbertaHow does mileage work and how far can I drive on an Olds RV trip?
You've got lots of range to play with. Each host sets their own daily kilometre allowance, and many Olds listings include 100 to 200 km per day, with some offering RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer road trips. From Olds you can reach Banff in about 210 km (just over 2 hours west on Highway 1), Calgary in 90 km, Drumheller and the Badlands in about 140 km east, Red Deer in 55 km north, and Jasper National Park in roughly 425 km. Pro tip: if you're planning a full Banff and Jasper Icefields Parkway loop, filter for unlimited-mileage hosts or buy a flat-rate kilometre add-on at booking. It's almost always cheaper than the per-kilometre overage fee.
alberta.ca/highway-reportsWhere are the best campgrounds near Olds to stay in my RV?
You have great choices within a short drive of Olds. Right in town, Olds Lions Campground offers power and water hookups and is walking distance to downtown. South of Olds, Rosebud Creek Campground in Didsbury is a quiet municipal option with serviced sites. Heading west toward the foothills, Fallen Timber South Provincial Recreation Area is a low-cost provincial site popular with RV campers. For lakeside views, Tainter Creek and other sites around Gleniffer Lake (about an hour northwest) offer serviced camping and boating. Pro tip: in-town campgrounds in Olds are some of the easiest places to find a last-minute RV spot during the busy July rodeo and fair season.
albertaparks.ca/parks/central/fallen-timber-south-pra/When is the best time of year for an Olds RV trip?
The sweet spot for RV camping in Olds is mid-May through mid-September, with July and August offering the warmest, sunniest weather. Summer daytime highs in Olds typically average around 21 to 23 degrees C, with cool single-digit nights perfect for sleeping with the windows cracked. June brings lush green foothills and long daylight, while September delivers golden aspens and far fewer crowds in Banff. Winters are cold (often -10 to -20 degrees C), but a handful of Olds hosts list four-season motorhomes with heated tanks for ski trips to Nakiska or ice fishing at Gleniffer Lake. Pro tip: book early-September dates for the best mix of warm afternoons, lower rates, and quiet Rocky Mountain campgrounds.
climate.weather.gc.ca/climate_normals/results_1991_2020_e.html?searchType=stnProv&lstProvince=ABI've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving around Olds?
You're going to do great. Olds sits right on the wide, flat, four-lane Queen Elizabeth II Highway (Highway 2) between Calgary and Red Deer, so getting in and out of town is about as easy as RV driving gets in Canada. Your host will give you a full walkthrough at pickup, covering how to level the RV, hook up water and power, dump tanks, and operate the propane and furnace. They'll also share their personal number in case you have questions on the road. First time renting an RV? Choose a smaller Class C motorhome or campervan rental in Olds for your debut, and skip the mountain passes on day one. Pro tip: practice a few turns in the empty Olds College parking lot before heading west.
alberta.ca/driving-in-albertaWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV on my trip?
Help is one phone call away, day or night. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection package, so if you get a flat on Highway 22 (the Cowboy Trail) or your fridge stops cooling near Sundre, a dispatcher will arrange service for you. RVezy's customer support team is also reachable before, during, and after your trip, and your host is usually the fastest answer for things like 'how do I reset the inverter?' Pro tip: snap a quick photo of the RV's VIN, make, and model at pickup and save your host's number to your phone's favourites; you'll have everything you need within thumb's reach.
tc.canada.ca/en/road-transportation/motor-vehicle-safetyCan I take my Olds RV rental into BC or across the US border?
Yes, an RV road trip from Olds into British Columbia is absolutely fair game and incredibly popular, with most hosts happy to send you over the Rockies to Golden, Revelstoke, or the Okanagan. Cross-border travel into the United States may also be allowed; confirm with your host before booking so they can ensure insurance coverage applies for US travel. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage stops at the US border. Pro tip: a classic loop from Olds is Highway 2 south to Calgary, Highway 1 west through Banff and Yoho, then return via Jasper and the Icefields Parkway, about 1,100 km of pure mountain scenery.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I plan for?
Budget-wise, motorhomes from Olds typically get 18 to 25 L/100 km (about 10 to 13 MPG) for Class A and C rigs, while campervans and small Class B rentals can hit 12 to 14 L/100 km. Towable trailers depend on your tow vehicle but expect a 25 to 35% hit to its usual mileage. Gas in Olds usually runs a few cents below the Alberta average thanks to local Co-op and Costco stations in nearby Red Deer. As a rough budget, a return RV trip from Olds to Banff (about 420 km) costs roughly $90 to $130 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Olds or Innisfail before heading west; prices climb noticeably once you pass Cochrane and again inside Banff National Park.
economicdashboard.alberta.ca/dashboard/retail-gasoline-and-diesel-prices/How far in advance should I book a campground near Olds?
You've got more flexibility here than in Banff, which is one of the underrated perks of basing an RV trip around Olds. Alberta Parks opens reservations 90 days in advance on a rolling window through reserve.albertaparks.ca, so set a calendar reminder for exactly 90 days before your target date for popular spots like Dickson Point or Bow Valley Provincial Park. Private campgrounds like O.R. Hedges Lions in Olds and Wagons West often have availability just a week or two out, even in summer. Pro tip: if you're chasing a July long weekend or August civic holiday site, log into the Alberta Parks reservation system at 9 a.m. Mountain Time exactly 90 days out; the best lakeside pads are gone within minutes.
reserve.albertaparks.ca/What are driving conditions like around Olds?
Driving around Olds is refreshingly stress-free. The town sits on flat prairie just off Highway 2, the main four-lane corridor between Calgary and Edmonton, with generous shoulders, gentle grades, and 110 km/h limits, ideal for any size of RV. Local roads like Highway 27 (east-west through town) and Highway 22 (the scenic Cowboy Trail) are paved and lightly travelled. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk, and check 511 Alberta before heading into the mountains in shoulder seasons, since spring snow and chinook winds can hit the Highway 1 corridor west of Calgary. Pro tip: if you're nervous about wind, plan your westbound mountain drive for early morning when the foothills are calmest.
511.alberta.ca/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Olds?
You'll be well looked after. Most campgrounds near Olds offer power (15/30-amp, sometimes 50-amp), potable water fill stations, and dump stations, and many add Wi-Fi, showers, laundry, and firewood sales. O.R. Hedges Lions in Olds has electric and water hookups plus flush washrooms, while Wagons West RV Park offers full hookups including sewer. Provincial sites like Dickson Point provide power and a centralized dump station and water fill. Need to dump between stops? The Town of Olds and most Husky/Petro-Canada stations along Highway 2 have public dump stations for a small fee. Pro tip: top up fresh water before leaving any campground on the way to Banff; potable fills inside the national park can have long lineups in July.
olds.ca/government/departments/operations/utilitiesWhat's actually inside a typical RV rental from Olds?
More than you'd expect. A typical motorhome rental in Olds comes fully equipped with a queen or king bed, bunks or convertible dinette for the kids, a kitchen with fridge/freezer, stove, microwave, and sink, plus a bathroom with toilet and shower. Most include a furnace, air conditioning, a TV/DVD, USB charging, and a generator or solar setup for off-grid nights. Seat-belted seating for the whole family is standard; just check the listing for the exact 'sleeps' and 'seatbelts' counts. Many hosts throw in starter kits with bedding, dishes, and camp chairs. Pro tip: message the host to confirm whether bedding and a propane fill are included; a lot of Olds owners include both at no extra cost.
tc.canada.ca/en/road-transportation/motor-vehicle-safety/safety-standards-vehicles-tires-child-car-seatsWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
There are plenty of ways to tailor your Olds RV rental to your trip. Common host add-ons include bedding and towel packages ($30 to $75), kitchen kits, camp chairs and tables, BBQ rentals, bike racks, generators, and pet-cleaning fees if you're bringing a furry friend. Pickup is usually at the host's home or acreage just outside Olds, but many hosts offer delivery to campgrounds, Calgary International Airport (YYC, 90 minutes south), or Red Deer Airport. Mileage policies and propane refill terms vary by listing and are spelled out clearly on the page. Pro tip: if you're flying into YYC and want zero stress, book a host who offers airport delivery; they'll meet you curbside with the keys, and your motorhome rental in Olds becomes a true door-to-mountains experience.
yyc.com/How does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and fully handled through RVezy, so you never hand cash or a cheque to the host. You will pay for your rental securely online with a credit card through RVezy, and a refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment (typically a few hundred to a few thousand dollars depending on the RV). As long as you return the RV in the same condition, the deposit hold is released after the trip. Pro tip: do a quick walkaround video at pickup and drop-off, time-stamped on your phone. It takes two minutes and is the single best habit for keeping your full security deposit on every RV rental in Alberta.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksHow do I prep an Olds RV rental for cold or shoulder-season weather?
Shoulder seasons in Olds are gorgeous, and a little prep means you'll be cozy down to -10°C. Look for listings marked as four-season or winterized, with heated holding tanks, an enclosed underbelly, and a propane furnace; many Olds hosts spec their rigs this way because of Alberta winters. At pickup, ask your host to demo the furnace, water heater, and tank heaters, and to top up the propane. Bring extra blankets, a small electric heater for shore-power nights, and RV antifreeze if you're heading out in October or April. Pro tip: Gleniffer Lake and the Bighorn Backcountry stay stunning into mid-October, and an Olds RV trip in early fall means golden larches, frosty mornings, and almost no crowds.
