We loved our time in this van! KK campervan was exactly what my partner and I had been looking for and there weren't many other vans like this on offer. Perfect size to get around Ontario, easy on full and had all the necessities we needed for a 18 day trip. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and Brad was easy to communicate with, made it all simple and straightforward. Would book again if we had the opportunity!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Port Perry, ON
How much does an RV rental in Port Perry typically cost?
Great news: an RV rental in Port Perry, ON usually costs less than a Muskoka cottage and gives you way more flexibility. On RVezy, travel trailers and pop-ups in the area typically run $90 to $200 per night, Class C motorhomes range $200 to $350 per night, and luxury Class A rigs sit between $300 and $500 per night. To find a cheap RV rental in Port Perry, book midweek in late May or September, look for hosts offering weekly discounts, and choose a smaller trailer if you already have a tow vehicle. Pro tip: filter by Delivery so you skip the tow-vehicle question entirely and the host parks the unit right at your Lake Scugog campsite.
destinationontario.com/en-ca/cities-towns/port-perryWhat kind of driver's license do I need to rent an RV in Port Perry, Ontario?
Good news for Ontario drivers: a full Class G license is all you need for the vast majority of RVs you can rent in Port Perry. That covers Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, travel trailers, and most Class A motorhomes under 11,000 kg. Larger motorhomes above that weight may require a Class D or other commercial endorsement, so confirm with your host before booking. To rent on RVezy you must be 25 or older with a valid driver's license, and ID is verified right in the platform. Visiting from abroad? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit and you're road-ready.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat protection and roadside support is included when I rent an RV in Port Perry?
You're covered from the moment you book. Every RV rental in Port Perry booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan that covers most damage to the vehicle, plus 24/7 roadside assistance at no extra cost. During checkout you choose the protection level that fits your trip, so you can dial coverage up for longer Ontario road trips or keep it lean for a quick weekend at Lake Scugog. This provides real financial peace of mind so a flat tire near Highway 7A or a chipped windshield on the 407 won't ruin your getaway. Pro tip: save the RVezy support number in your phone before you pull out of the driveway.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Port Perry RV rental?
Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and there's a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in a Port Perry RV trip with confidence. Refund eligibility depends on how far ahead of your trip you cancel. Because the policy is handled by RVezy directly, listings won't show a host-specific cancellation policy. If a host has to cancel on you, RVezy will help you get a refund or rebooking credit. Pro tip: book early to secure your dates around the Port Perry Fair or a Great Blue Heron Casino weekend, and if your plans shift, contact RVezy support right away to walk through your options.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Port Perry RV trip?
Absolutely, and Port Perry is a fantastic dog town. To find a pet-friendly RV rental in Port Perry, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see units where dogs are welcome. Once you arrive, Lake Scugog's Palmer Park has lakeside paths perfect for a leashed stroll, and the Durham East Cross Forest Conservation Area just south of town has wooded trails your pup will love. Ontario Parks allows leashed pets on most campsites and many trails, including nearby Darlington Provincial Park. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm dog size, breed, and any cleaning fees, and pack a towel because Lake Scugog beaches are very swim-friendly.
ontarioparks.ca/park/darlingtonCan the RV be delivered to my campsite or driveway in Port Perry?
Yes, and RV delivery in Port Perry is one of the smartest ways to book, especially for first-timers. Many RVezy hosts in the Durham Region offer delivery to popular spots like Scugog Landing RV and Cottage Resort, Cedar Valley Park, or a private property near Lake Scugog. The host arrives, levels the rig, connects water, sewer, and 30 or 50 amp power, and walks you through every system, from the awning to the fridge. You skip towing, skip backing into a tight site, and start your vacation the moment you arrive. Pro tip: filter for Delivery on RVezy, then message the host with your campground name to get an exact delivery quote, usually based on kilometres from their location.
destinationontario.com/en-ca/cities-towns/port-perryHow far can I travel from Port Perry on a typical RV trip?
Plenty far, and many hosts even offer RV rental with unlimited mileage. From Port Perry, ON you can reach some of Ontario's best camping in just a few hours: Algonquin Provincial Park is about 2.5 hours northeast, Prince Edward County and Sandbanks Provincial Park sit roughly 2 hours east, the Kawartha Lakes are 45 minutes north, Bruce Peninsula National Park is around 4 hours west, and Niagara Falls is about 2 hours southwest. Most RVezy hosts include 100 to 200 km per day with reasonable per-kilometre overage fees, while others offer unlimited mileage packages. Pro tip: if you're planning a long RV road trip from Port Perry, message the host before booking and ask about a flat-rate mileage add-on.
ontarioparks.ca/park/algonquinWhere are the best campgrounds near Port Perry for RV camping?
You've got excellent options within 30 minutes of downtown. Scugog Landing RV and Cottage Resort sits right on the Trent-Severn Waterway with full hookups and 120 acres of family-friendly amenities, just 10 minutes from Port Perry. Cedar Valley Park is a quieter family campground a short drive south. For an Ontario Parks experience, Darlington Provincial Park on Lake Ontario is about 35 minutes away with electrical sites and a beach. Emily Provincial Park near Omemee, 45 minutes north, is a Kawarthas gem. Heading east, Sandaraska Park near Pontypool offers wooded sites. Pro tip: when booking through ontarioparks.ca, reservations open at 7 a.m. exactly five months ahead of your arrival date, so set an alarm for popular summer weekends.
ontarioparks.ca/reservationsWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Port Perry?
Late May through early October is the sweet spot for RV camping in Port Perry, with July and August offering warm 25 to 28 C days perfect for swimming in Lake Scugog. June brings fewer mosquitoes than people expect and lush green countryside, while September and early October deliver spectacular fall colours across the Oak Ridges Moraine plus cool 15 to 20 C days and crisp nights. Most Ontario Parks campgrounds near Port Perry operate from the May long weekend (Victoria Day) through Thanksgiving in mid-October. Pro tip: book your Port Perry RV trip for the third week of September to catch peak fall colour, apple season at Willowtree Farm and Nature's Bounty, and dramatically lower campground demand.
ontarioparks.ca/parksblogI've never rented an RV before. Will I actually know how to use it?
Yes, and most first-time renters in Port Perry are amazed at how easy it is. Every RVezy host provides a full walkthrough at pickup or delivery, showing you how to operate the propane, water pump, holding tanks, awning, slide-outs, and everything else, usually 30 to 60 minutes of hands-on orientation. You can also message your host anytime during your trip with questions. For first time renting an RV, choose a Class C motorhome or a smaller travel trailer, both forgiving on Highway 7A and Simcoe Street. Pro tip: do a practice drive around the quiet residential streets of Port Perry before heading out to Scugog Island or up to the Kawarthas, and take photos of every hookup at pickup.
ontario.ca/page/driving-recreational-vehicle-rvWhat if something breaks down during my Port Perry RV trip?
You're never alone on the road. Every RV rental in Port Perry booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering things like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing. Your host is also your first call for anything RV-specific, since they know their rig best. Cell coverage is strong throughout the Durham Region, along Highway 12, and on most routes into the Kawarthas, so help is just a call away. Pro tip: before you leave the driveway, save your host's number and the RVezy support number in your phone, and snap a photo of the RV's VIN and licence plate so you have details handy if you need them.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take a Port Perry RV rental across the border into the United States?
Often yes, and Port Perry's location makes a US road trip very doable, but you'll need the host's approval first. Many RVezy hosts allow cross-border travel to states like New York, Michigan, or Pennsylvania, with the closest border crossings being Lewiston-Queenston Bridge near Niagara (about 2 hours) and the Thousand Islands Bridge (about 3 hours east). Important: travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental due to insurance limitations. Message the host before booking to confirm US travel is allowed, and ask whether your protection package extends across the border. Pro tip: bring your passport, vehicle ownership documents the host provides, and a printed copy of your RVezy booking confirmation for a smooth border crossing.
cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/travel-voyage/menu-eng.htmlWhat fuel costs should I budget for my Port Perry RV road trip?
Fuel is the biggest variable in your budget, but most RVs are more efficient than people expect. Class B campervans get around 18 to 22 mpg (roughly 11 to 13 L/100km), Class C motorhomes return 10 to 14 mpg (roughly 17 to 24 L/100km), and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle's mileage with the trailer attached. Gas in Port Perry typically runs $1.50 to $1.70 per litre, with Costco in Whitby (25 minutes south) usually a few cents cheaper. For a 4-day trip covering 600 km in a Class C, budget roughly $200 to $280 in fuel. Pro tip: top up at the Pioneer or Esso on Simcoe Street before heading north to the Kawarthas, where stations are fewer and pricier.
ontario.ca/page/gasoline-pricesHow far in advance should I book a campground near Port Perry?
For an Ontario Parks campsite, book the moment the five-month window opens at 7 a.m. on ontarioparks.ca, especially for summer long weekends at Darlington, Emily, or Balsam Lake provincial parks. For private campgrounds like Scugog Landing RV and Cottage Resort, aim for 2 to 4 months out for July and August, though midweek spring and fall sites are often available within a couple of weeks. Reservations open February 1 for July 1 arrivals, so mark your calendar. Pro tip: use the Notify Me feature on the Ontario Parks reservation site to get alerts when a cancelled site opens up at your dream park, and stay flexible on midweek dates to score quieter, cheaper stays.
ontarioparks.ca/reservationsWhat are the driving conditions like around Port Perry in an RV?
Driving an RV around Port Perry is refreshingly easy compared to a big city. Highway 7A through downtown is two lanes with low traffic, Simcoe Street (Durham Road 2) heading south to the 407 is straight and well-paved, and rural concession roads have wide shoulders. The biggest things to watch are tight turns on Queen Street downtown (use the public lots on Water Street instead), low-hanging branches on some Scugog Island roads, and slick conditions when fall leaves are wet. Winters bring snow from November through March, so most rentals are summer-season. Pro tip: avoid driving an RV during the Friday afternoon Toronto exodus on Highway 12 southbound, and instead pick up your rental Saturday morning for a stress-free start.
ontario.ca/page/road-safetyWhat facilities and hookups will I find at campgrounds near Port Perry?
Campgrounds around Port Perry are well-equipped for a great RV stay. Private parks like Scugog Landing offer full hookups (water, 30 or 50 amp electric, and sewer at the site), Wi-Fi, laundry, pools, and playgrounds. Ontario Parks campgrounds such as Darlington and Emily typically offer electrical sites (15, 30, or some 50 amp), shared water taps, comfort stations with flush toilets and showers, and dump stations near the exit. You can also dump and fill fresh water at private parks in the area for a small fee if you're staying elsewhere. Pro tip: bring a 30-amp-to-15-amp adapter and a drinking-water hose of at least 7.5 metres, since site layouts at provincial parks vary and hosts may not include extra-long hoses.
ontarioparks.ca/camping/rvWhat's inside a typical Port Perry RV rental?
More than you might think. A typical motorhome rental in Port Perry comes with a full kitchen (3-burner propane stove, fridge/freezer, microwave, sink), a bathroom with toilet and shower, comfortable sleeping for 4 to 8 people depending on size, a dinette that converts to a bed, air conditioning, propane furnace, and seatbelted seats for travel. Many include extras like a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor speakers, a power awning, and a backup camera. Larger Class A and Class C units often have a generator for off-grid power. Pro tip: check the listing's amenity list carefully, and message the host to confirm whether linens, a kitchen kit, and a starter kit of toilet paper and tank chemicals are included or available as add-ons.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Port%20Perry%2C%20OntarioWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about for a Port Perry RV rental?
Hosts in Port Perry offer some great add-ons to make your trip easier. Common options include linen and towel packages ($25 to $75), kitchen kits with dishes and cookware ($30 to $60), camp chairs and outdoor mats ($15 to $30), portable BBQs ($25 per trip), bike racks, generators, and Starlink Wi-Fi for remote campsites. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or around Port Perry, with a 30 to 60-minute walkthrough; many hosts also offer delivery to local campgrounds like Scugog Landing. Mileage is typically 100 to 200 km per day included, with overages around $0.30 to $0.50 per km. Pro tip: ask the host about a flat-rate weekly mileage package if you're planning a longer Kawartha or Algonquin loop.
destinationontario.com/en-ca/cities-towns/port-perryHow does payment and the security deposit work when I rent an RV in Port Perry?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay the full booking through RVezy by credit card when you confirm your reservation, so there's no cash handover with the host. A refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV and protection level you chose) is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after the host confirms the rig came back clean, on time, and undamaged. To avoid issues, do a thorough walkaround video at pickup and again at drop-off, return with the same fuel and propane levels, and empty the holding tanks if the host requires it. Pro tip: keep all receipts from your Port Perry RV trip in case you need to document a fuel top-up or dump-station fee.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I park or store an RV in Port Perry before or after my trip?
Parking is easier here than in most Ontario towns. Downtown Port Perry has free 3-hour parking lots on Water Street and Perry Street, perfect for a quick stop at Hank's Pastries or Old Flame Brewing Co. before you head to your campsite. Overnight RV parking is not permitted on Queen Street or in municipal lots, so don't plan to sleep there. Where to park an RV in Port Perry overnight: book a site at Scugog Landing or Cedar Valley Park, or arrange delivery directly to your destination. Walmart in nearby Whitby and Oshawa no longer allows overnight RV parking, so always have a reservation. Pro tip: if you need a short layover, the Great Blue Heron Casino sometimes accommodates day-use RV parking, call ahead to confirm.
