We rented Jean Francois’ RV for a team relay run around the city of Ottawa. This was a 360km run and his RV was a welcomed sight at the end of long legs of the run for a place to rest and recharge. Jean Francois not only agreed to rent his RV to us, but provided us with a full case of Gatorade which we didn’t realize how badly we needed! His communication was on point, the orientation was phenomenal and the RV was clean, well stocked and drove great. We’d highly recommend Jean Francois and his RV for anyone looking for a reliable and comfortable experience.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Plaisance, QC

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Plaisance, QC?

An RV rental in Plaisance is one of the more affordable ways to experience the Outaouais region. Expect to pay roughly CAD $125 to $200 per night for a campervan or small travel trailer, $175 to $275 for a Class C motorhome, and $225 to $350 for a larger Class A. Hosts set their own prices, so weeknight stays in May, June, or September are noticeably cheaper than peak July and August dates around Parc national de Plaisance. For a cheap RV rental Plaisance trip, filter by travel trailer, pick mid-week dates, and book a host within 30 to 60 km (Gatineau, Buckingham, Thurso) to keep delivery fees low. Pro tip: shoulder-season weekends along the Ottawa River are stunning and quiet.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Plaisance, Quebec?

Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Plaisance for almost every rental on RVezy. The Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) confirms that a standard Class 5 passenger license covers motorhomes used for personal recreation, including most Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels. Visiting from another province or the United States? Your home license is valid in Quebec under standard reciprocity. RVezy generally requires approved drivers to be 25 or older with a valid license, and identity confirmation happens inside the platform during booking, so you can lock in your dates with confidence.

Is my RV rental protected if something goes wrong on the trip?

Yes, every RV rental in Plaisance booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the road relaxed. Guests choose their coverage level at checkout (not the host), and the plan is designed specifically for peer-to-peer RV rentals to provide real financial protection if there is an incident with the vehicle. Combined with the host walkthrough at pickup, it means even first-time renters heading into the marshes of Parc national de Plaisance feel covered from kilometre one. You can review the full details of each plan on the RVezy Help Center before you book.

What if I need to cancel my Plaisance RV rental?

You have flexibility. RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every booking (not the host), and it includes a grace period after booking when you can cancel for a full refund. Additional refund options apply depending on how far out from your trip you cancel, and if a host cancels, RVezy refunds the guest or provides travel credit. The exact terms are explained on the RVezy website and Help Center during checkout, so you will know your options before you confirm. Bottom line: locking in that summer week for your RV rental in Plaisance is low-risk, even months in advance.

Can I bring my dog on a Plaisance RV trip?

Absolutely, and Plaisance is genuinely dog-friendly. Just use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to find a pet-friendly RV rental Plaisance hosts have approved for furry guests. Parc national de Plaisance even has a dedicated dog-friendly area: the Fer-à-Cheval RV sector specifically permits dogs on leash, while reminding owners that pets aren't allowed in the main campground showers or dump-station area. There are also leashed-dog trails through the marshes where you can spot herons and turtles together. Pro tip: bring a long tie-out and a collapsible water bowl, message your host about pet rules before booking, and ask about any cleaning fee so there are no surprises.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in Plaisance?

Yes, RV delivery in Plaisance is one of the most popular options for first-timers, families, and anyone who would rather skip driving a motorhome. Many hosts in nearby Gatineau, Thurso, Papineauville, and Montebello will deliver directly to your reserved site at Parc national de Plaisance, set up the slide-outs, level the rig, connect water and electricity, and walk you through every system. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see hosts offering this service, then message them with your campsite number. Delivery fees vary by host and distance, so booking a closer host typically saves money.

How far can I drive on a Plaisance RV trip?

Plenty far, and Plaisance is perfectly placed for short, scenic loops. Most RVezy hosts include a daily mileage allowance with extra kilometres priced per km, and some offer an RV rental with unlimited mileage for an upgraded rate. From Plaisance you are about 80 km from Ottawa-Gatineau, 145 km from Montreal, 100 km from Mont-Tremblant, and roughly 300 km from Algonquin Provincial Park's west gate, so a long weekend rarely needs more than 400 km total. Pro tip: filter listings by mileage policy and message hosts directly if your itinerary is longer to ask about a custom package.

Where should I stay on an RV camping Plaisance trip?

You're spoiled for choice. The headliner is Parc national de Plaisance (Sépaq), with 176 sites split across La Presqu'île, Les Marmottes (45 two-service sites), L'Érablière (29 two-service sites), and the tent-free Fer-à-Cheval RV sector right on the Ottawa River. Just east, Camping Plage McLaurin in Thurso offers riverfront sites with full hookups. Camping Domaine Lausanne (about 30 km away in Lochaber) is great for families with a pool and beach. Camping Parc Oméga lets you wake up steps from wildlife safari trails. For RV camping Plaisance reservations, book Sépaq sites the moment they open in late January for prime summer weekends.

When is the best time of year for a Plaisance RV trip?

Late May through early October is the sweet spot. Spring (May to early June) brings the legendary Canada Goose migration, with thousands of birds passing through the park's marshes, plus daytime highs around 15 to 20 degrees Celsius. Summer (late June to August) is warm and lively, with highs of 25 to 28 degrees Celsius and water activities in full swing. September is many locals' favourite: 18 to 22 degree days, dramatic fall colours along the Petite-Nation River, and far fewer crowds. The Sépaq campground operates roughly late April to mid-October. Pro tip: book Canada Day and Saint-Jean-Baptiste (June 24) weekends months in advance, they sell out fast.

I've never rented an RV before. How does it work in Plaisance?

First time renting an RV? You'll be in great shape. Every RVezy host provides an in-person orientation at pickup or delivery, walking you through propane, the water pump, slide-outs, the awning, the toilet, and how to hook up at a campground. Plaisance is one of the easiest places in Quebec to learn: roads are flat, traffic is light, and Route 148 along the Ottawa River is a calm, straight drive. You can also message your host before booking with any questions, and RVezy's 24/7 support is one tap away during the trip. Pro tip: pick a Class C or campervan for your first rent an RV in Plaisance experience, they drive like a large van.
sepaq.com/pq/pla/index.dot?language_id=1

What happens if I have a mechanical issue or breakdown near Plaisance?

You are never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering tows, jump-starts, flat tires, lockouts, and fuel delivery. From Plaisance, help can reach you along Route 148 or Autoroute 50, with service hubs in nearby Gatineau, Buckingham, and Thurso. Your host is also reachable through the RVezy app for quick questions, and RVezy support is one call away. Pro tip: save the roadside-assistance number in your phone before you leave the host's driveway, and snap a photo of the roadside-assistance card so it is offline-accessible if you head deep into the park.

Can I take my Plaisance RV rental into Ontario or the United States?

Crossing into Ontario is easy and common, since the border is just minutes away. The Long-Sault Bridge in Hawkesbury or the Macdonald-Cartier Bridge in Ottawa puts you in Ontario in under an hour, opening up Algonquin Park, Thousand Islands, and Prince Edward County for an extended RV road trip from Plaisance. US travel may also be allowed but depends on the host's listing and insurance, so message the host directly before booking to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage does not extend there. Pro tip: bring your passport and vehicle paperwork for any cross-border leg.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validity

How much should I budget for fuel on a Plaisance RV trip?

Fuel is the second-biggest line item after the rental itself, so it pays to plan. Regular gasoline in the Outaouais region typically runs about CAD $1.65 to $1.95 per litre, with diesel a few cents higher. Most Class B campervans return 12 to 14 L/100 km, Class C motorhomes 18 to 22 L/100 km, and Class A motorhomes 25 to 30 L/100 km. A 400-km weekend in a Class C therefore runs roughly $140 to $170 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up in Thurso or Buckingham before heading deeper into the Petite-Nation, where stations are sparser and slightly pricier.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Plaisance?

Earlier is better, especially for Parc national de Plaisance. Sépaq opens reservations through its provincial reservation system early in the year, and prime summer weekends, Canada Day (July 1), and Saint-Jean-Baptiste (June 24) often sell out within hours. For July and August stays, aim to book 3 to 5 months ahead; for May, June, and September, 4 to 6 weeks is usually enough. Private parks like Camping Plage McLaurin and Domaine Lausanne also fill quickly on long weekends. Pro tip: if Sépaq is full, check daily for cancellations.

What are local driving conditions like around Plaisance?

Driving in and around Plaisance is wonderfully relaxed for an RV trip. Route 148, the main road through town along the Ottawa River, is a flat two-lane highway with gentle curves and 90 km/h limits, ideal for first-time motorhome drivers. Autoroute 50 connects you quickly to Gatineau (about 45 minutes west) and onward to the Laurentians. Watch for wildlife at dawn and dusk (deer, and the park's famous turtles crossing in June), winter snowstorms from December to March, and brief spring flooding in low-lying sections near the marshes. Pro tip: avoid Friday afternoon Ottawa-bound traffic if you can.

What amenities do campgrounds near Plaisance offer for RVs?

You'll find everything you need within minutes of town. Parc national de Plaisance offers two-service sites (water and electricity 15/20 amp) in the Marmottes and Érablière sectors, with a dump station in the Marmottes area, plus a community building with laundry, showers, swimming pool, and playground. The Fer-à-Cheval RV sector is tent-free with a grassy open layout (no hookups on-site, but showers and water are at the Discovery Centre). For full 30/50-amp service and sewer hookups, head to private parks like Camping Plage McLaurin in Thurso. Pro tip: fill your fresh-water tank at the Discovery and Visitors Centre on arrival to skip lineups on busy Saturday check-ins.
sepaq.com/pq/pla/index.dot?language_id=1

What should I expect inside a typical RV rental in Plaisance?

More comfortable than you'd think. Most RVezy listings in the Plaisance area come fully equipped: a real bed (often a queen), a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, sink and cookware, an indoor bathroom with toilet and shower, dining seating with seatbelts for travel, propane furnace and air conditioning, hot-water tank, fresh and grey water tanks, and 12V plus shore-power electrical. Many hosts include a TV, Bluetooth speaker, outdoor awning, camp chairs, and an onboard generator on larger Class A and Class C units. Cellular signal along Route 148 is solid (Bell and Telus), so phone hotspots usually work fine for streaming. Pro tip: ask the host about linens, towels, and a starter propane fill before pickup.
sepaq.com/pq/pla/index.dot?language_id=1

What add-ons and pickup details should I plan for?

Hosts in the Plaisance area offer a great mix of add-ons that take the hassle out of packing. Common extras include bedding and towel packages ($25 to $60), kitchen kits ($20 to $40), camp chairs and tables, BBQs ($15 to $30/trip), generators, bike racks, paddleboards or kayaks, and pet packages. Many hosts also offer delivery to Parc national de Plaisance (1001 Chemin des Presqu'îles) with full setup, which is the easiest pickup logistics if you're flying into Ottawa Airport (YOW, about 90 km west). Standard mileage allowances run 100 to 200 km per day. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a bedding package for a true zero-prep family RV trip Plaisance experience.
sepaq.com/pq/pla/index.dot?language_id=1

How do payment and the security deposit work for an RVezy booking?

Payment is simple and fully handled through RVezy, never directly with the host. You pay with a major credit card when you book, the platform holds the funds securely, and the host is paid out after your trip starts. A refundable security deposit is held separately from the booking payment and pre-authorized on your card before pickup, then released after drop-off assuming the RV is returned in the same condition. To avoid deductions, do a thorough walkaround video at pickup and drop-off with your host. Pro tip: use a credit card with a higher limit so the pre-authorization does not pinch your day-to-day spending during your campervan rental in Plaisance.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

What are the best road trip destinations from Plaisance?

Plaisance is a fantastic launchpad for a motorhome rental Plaisance road trip. Top picks: Parc Oméga in Montebello (about 15 km, 20 minutes) for a drive-through wildlife safari with bison and wolves; Ottawa-Gatineau (80 km, about 1 hour) for Parliament Hill and the Canadian Museum of History; Mont-Tremblant (about 110 km, 1.5 hours) for hiking and the alpine village; Montreal (145 km, about 1 hour 45 minutes) for big-city food and festivals; and Algonquin Provincial Park (about 300 km, 3.5 hours) for legendary canoe country. Pro tip: stop at Chutes de Plaisance, a 63-metre waterfall, just minutes from town.
