2024 Keystone Travel Trailer
This is our first time renting a travel trailer and was naturally nervous about how it was going to go. Any anxiety disappeared immediately when meeting Andrew and his family. On pickup day they were nice, helpful, and even excited for us to use their trailer. They kept in communication during the trip and made sure all went well for our 6 hours drive up to the North Coast of CA. Now for the trailer. On pickup, the trailer was clean and well stocked. It is super nice with a large pop out that really opens up the main area when out. It's perfect for a family of 4. The front bed is comfy and the bunk beds are huge that have space for 2 on each with the only caveat that the top bunk is too high from the floor and hard to get in and out of even with a step stool provided. We mainly used it clothing storage with the kids sleeping on the bottom together. Storage throughout the trailer is plentiful and the fridge/freeze stayed cold the entire time. We were dry camping so we were very reserved with using water from the tank in fear of filling up the grey/black tanks. We pretty much just used the toilet and on the last day of our 6th day of camping we barely hit 1/3 on both tanks. The trailer had everything to empty tanks along with gloves. Andrew labeled everything so there wasn't any confusion. We towed the trailer with a 1/2 Chevy Trailboss with the 3.0 diesel no problem once we adjusted the sway/leveling bars to match the truck. I believe Andrew tows with a 3/4 ton and the tow system was set to match that size truck. We enjoyed using Andrews trailer and wouldn't hesitate to use it again the the future. If you're on the fence, I hope this review helps. Thanks Andrew!

What license do I need to rent an RV in Eureka?

You do not need a special license to rent most RVs in Eureka. A standard driver's license is sufficient for motorhomes and trailers under 40 feet and under 26,000 pounds in California. RVezy requires approved drivers to be at least 25 years old with a valid license and a clean driving record. International visitors should bring their home-country license along with an International Driving Permit. RVezy verifies your ID during checkout so you are ready to hit Highway 101 quickly.

Can I bring my dog or cat along on my Eureka RV trip?

Yes, pet-friendly RV rentals in Eureka are easy to find. Use the pet-friendly filter on RVezy to see listings that welcome dogs and cats, and check each listing for any pet fees. Once you arrive, Arcata Community Forest and the Hammond Trail offer leashed-pet walks, and Clam Beach County Park allows dogs on leash. Note that Redwood National and State Parks restrict pets to developed areas and paved roads, so plan trail time accordingly.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground in Eureka?

Yes. Many Eureka hosts offer RV delivery so your motorhome or trailer is set up and ready to camp at your chosen site, with no towing required. Popular delivery destinations include Redwood Coast Cabins and RV Resort in Eureka, KOA Eureka/Arcata, and nearby state park campgrounds. At delivery, your host will walk you through hookups, slide-outs, and key systems, which is ideal for first-time renters who want a stress-free start to their trip.

How many miles can I drive my RV rental from Eureka, and where should I go?

Most Eureka RV rentals include 100 to 150 miles per day, with the option to add more miles or choose listings offering unlimited mileage. That is plenty for popular trips like Redwood National and State Parks (about 45 minutes north), Avenue of the Giants (about 50 minutes south), Trinidad and Patrick's Point (about 25 minutes), and the Lost Coast at Shelter Cove (about 2 hours). Filter for unlimited mileage if you plan to push north into Oregon.

Where can I park my RV overnight in Eureka?

There are several solid options for RV camping in Eureka. Redwood Coast Cabins and RV Resort offers full hookups close to downtown, Samoa Boat Ramp County Park allows low-cost stays on the peninsula near Humboldt Bay, and Mad River Rapids RV Park in nearby Arcata is great for families. Overnight street parking is not permitted within Eureka city limits, so always stay in a designated campground or RV park, and book ahead during summer redwood season.

When is the best time to visit Eureka for an RV trip?

Eureka is RV-friendly year-round thanks to its mild coastal climate. The most popular window is May through October, with daytime highs typically in the upper 50s to upper 60s, lighter rainfall, and lots of summer festivals. Winter trips bring rain, highs in the low 50s, and quieter campgrounds, which is great for storm watching and whale watching. Fall often offers lower rental rates and clearer days. Pack layers, since coastal fog keeps things cool even in July.

I am new to RVing, will someone teach me how everything works?

Yes. Every RV rental in Eureka includes a host walkthrough at pickup or delivery. Your host will show you driving basics, hookups, slide-outs, water and waste systems, and any extras like solar or generators. You can also message your host through RVezy before booking with any questions, and again during your trip if anything comes up. Most first-time renters in Eureka say the walkthrough leaves them feeling fully confident before they roll out toward the redwoods.

Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, even on winding routes around Eureka, the Lost Coast, and the redwoods. Whether you have a flat tire near Trinidad or a battery issue in Arcata, help is one phone call away. Save the roadside assistance number from your booking confirmation in your phone before departure, and you can explore Highway 101 with confidence.

Can I take my RV rental from Eureka into Oregon or other states?

Yes, most Eureka RV rentals allow interstate travel within the United States, and the RVezy protection plan applies across the country. Always confirm your route with your host so they know the plan. Popular cross-state road trips from Eureka include Highway 101 up the Oregon Coast (about 3 hours to Gold Beach), Crater Lake (about 6 hours), and inland to Redding and Lassen Volcanic National Park (about 3.5 to 5 hours). Cross-border travel into Canada or Mexico is generally not permitted.

How much should I budget for gas during my Eureka RV trip?

Most motorhomes rented in Eureka average 8 to 12 miles per gallon, while campervans and truck campers typically get 14 to 18 mpg. Humboldt County gas prices generally run above the California average, so a classic redwood loop of 200 to 300 miles often costs $100 to $250 in fuel. Eureka and Arcata have several stations with easy large-vehicle access. Use apps like GasBuddy for live prices, and top off before heading to the Lost Coast where stations are sparse.

How far ahead should I book a campground near Eureka or the Redwoods?

For the best campgrounds near Eureka, like Patrick's Point (Sue-meg) State Park, Humboldt Redwoods State Park, and Elk Prairie Campground, reserve as early as possible for summer weekends. California state parks release sites up to 6 months in advance through ReserveCalifornia. Private RV parks often accept reservations even further out. If you want full hookups during peak season, book a month or more ahead, and check first-come county campgrounds for last-minute options.

Are Eureka roads easy to drive an RV on? Any local tips?

Eureka is one of Northern California's more RV-friendly towns. Most streets are wide and flat, and Highway 101 runs directly through the city for easy access. Avoid the narrow blocks in Old Town with longer rigs, and use larger lots near Sequoia Park or along Broadway when stopping. If you head to the Lost Coast via Mattole Road, expect steep grades, sharp curves, and limited cell service. For first-timers, choosing a host who offers RV delivery removes the stress entirely.

What hookups and amenities can I expect at Eureka-area campgrounds?

Most commercial RV parks near Eureka, including Mad River Rapids RV Park and Redwood Coast Cabins and RV Resort, offer full hookups (water, power, sewer), clean bathhouses, laundry, and WiFi. State parks like Patrick's Point and Humboldt Redwoods generally provide potable water and dump stations rather than full hookups at each site. Top off fresh water and dump tanks before heading into the redwoods or to the Lost Coast, where services are limited.

What features do typical RV rentals in Eureka include?

Most Eureka RV rentals include full kitchens with a stove, fridge, and microwave, comfortable beds, private bathrooms with hot showers, and dinettes or lofts for extra sleeping. Many motorhomes add generators, TVs, and sometimes solar or WiFi hotspots. All vehicles have seatbelts for safe travel. Use the RVezy listing filters to match must-have features, and message your host directly if you want extras like bike racks, camp chairs, or kid-friendly gear added to your booking.

What are popular RV rental add-ons in Eureka, and how do pickup and drop-off work?

Eureka hosts often offer add-ons such as outdoor grills, kayaks, camp chairs, firewood, bedding packs, and e-bikes, with fees listed directly on each listing. For pickup, you and your host confirm a time and location, then walk through the RV together. RV delivery is also available from many hosts. At drop-off, return the RV clean, with tanks handled per the listing rules and the fuel level matching pickup. For unlimited mileage, filter listings or message the host.

How does payment and the security deposit work when I book an RV rental in Eureka?

All payments for your Eureka RV rental are handled securely through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your rental payment and covers any damage beyond normal use. The deposit amount is shown before checkout and is released after a damage-free return. To protect yourself, review the host's check-in process and take dated photos of the RV's condition with your host at both pickup and drop-off.
