Every RVezy host provides a full walkthrough at pickup covering propane, slide-outs, leveling, water systems, and dumping tanks, so you won't be left guessing. You can also message your host anytime during the trip with questions. Pro tip: choose a Class C motorhome rental in Nicholasville or a smaller travel trailer for your first booking. Fuel is usually the biggest variable cost, but Kentucky's gas prices typically run below the national average, which keeps things friendly. Plan on roughly 8 to 10 miles per gallon for a Class A, 10 to 14 mpg for a Class C, 14 to 18 mpg for a campervan, and 12 to 16 mpg for a truck towing a travel trailer. For a 500-mile loop from Nicholasville to Red River Gorge and back to Mammoth Cave, expect somewhere between $200 and $350 in fuel depending on the rig. Pro tip: fill up off the interstate in towns like Nicholasville, Wilmore, or Versailles where prices are usually a bit cheaper than at exits along I-75 and I-64.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Nicholasville?
For the best campgrounds near Nicholasville, aim to book 3 to 6 months ahead for peak summer weekends, and up to 12 months ahead for marquee weekends like the Kentucky Derby in early May, Rolex Three-Day Event in late April, and Keeneland's April and October race meets. Kentucky State Parks (including Kentucky Horse Park Campground and Fort Boonesborough) use ReserveAmerica.com or the toll-free reservation line at 888-459-7275, with a 12-month booking window. Private parks like Cummins Ferry and Camp Nelson book directly through their websites. Pro tip: weekday arrivals (Sunday through Thursday) almost always have availability even in summer, and rates are often a few dollars lower.
parks.ky.gov/What are the driving conditions like around Nicholasville?
Driving an RV in and around Nicholasville is refreshingly manageable. US-27 (Main Street) is the primary north-south corridor connecting Lexington to Camp Nelson with wide lanes and gentle grades. The Bluegrass Parkway and I-75 are smooth, modern, and RV-friendly. Watch for narrow, winding roads on KY-169 and along the Kentucky River Palisades, where switchbacks reward you with stunning views but require slower speeds. Spring brings occasional thunderstorms, and winter can deliver ice and light snow from December through February. Pro tip: avoid downtown Lexington's Vine and Main Street corridor during University of Kentucky home football games. Use New Circle Road (KY-4) as a bypass with plenty of clearance for tall rigs.

Most state and private parks, including Kentucky Horse Park Campground and Camp Nelson RV Park, offer 20/30/50 amp electric, water hookups, and a centrally located dump station. Many sites also include sewer hookups, picnic tables, fire rings, and paved pads. Bathhouses with hot showers, laundry, and Wi-Fi are common at larger parks. Need to dump and refill on your way home? Many listings also include a TV, indoor and outdoor speakers, awnings, outdoor camp chairs, and basic kitchen starter kits. Wi-Fi and generators are common add-ons; check the listing's amenity list. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps count to match your group, and message the host to confirm specifics like a queen versus king bed or whether the campervan rental in Nicholasville you're eyeing has a wet bath or dry bath setup.

Pickup is typically at the host's address in Jessamine or Fayette County, but many hosts offer delivery within a 25 to 50 mile radius for a flat fee. One-way trips are sometimes possible: message the host directly through the listing to ask. Each listing also displays the mileage policy, generator hours allowance, and any pet fees up front. Pro tip: bundle add-ons at booking instead of asking later. It locks in pricing and ensures everything is ready at pickup.
visitlex.com/How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment for your RV rental in Nicholasville is handled securely through the RVezy platform, so you never hand cash or a check to the host. You will pay the rental total (plus taxes, fees, and any add-ons) at booking using a major credit card. The security deposit is separate from the booking payment and is placed as a pre-authorization hold on your card, then released after the trip ends assuming the rig comes back in the same condition. Pro tip: take time-stamped photos and a quick walkaround video at pickup and dropoff, and stay within the host's mileage and generator policies to keep your deposit return fast and full.
