rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Shepherdsville,KentuckyDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Shepherdsville?
A regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Shepherdsville, Kentucky. No CDL or special RV endorsement is required for any motorhome or travel trailer on RVezy, whether you're driving a compact campervan or a 32-foot Class A. Approved drivers are generally required to be at least 25 years old, and RVezy verifies your ID securely through the platform during checkout. Visiting from abroad? Every motorhome rental in Shepherdsville booked on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the road with peace of mind. Protection plans help cover damage to the RV during your trip, and you can choose from different coverage levels at checkout to match your comfort, whether you're heading to Bernheim Forest for the weekend or planning a longer Bourbon Trail loop. Coverage details and limits are outlined on RVezy before you book, so there are no surprises on the Bluegrass Parkway. Pick your plan at booking and you're set, no extra paperwork needed.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Shepherdsville RV rental?
Booking an RV rental in Shepherdsville is low-risk. RVezy applies a standardized cancellation policy that includes a full money-back grace period right after booking, so you have breathing room to lock in your dates. Refund amounts depend on how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date. You can review the full cancellation policy on RVezy's Help Center before you book. Reserve early to grab the best rigs for Bourbon Trail season, then relax knowing you have flexibility if plans shift.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Shepherdsville RV trip?
Yes, pet-friendly RV rentals in Shepherdsville are plentiful on RVezy. Toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when searching to see rigs where furry co-pilots are welcome. Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest in nearby Clermont allows leashed dogs on most of its trails, making it a tail-wagging favorite. The Paroquet Springs area in Bullitt County and trails along the Salt River are also great for stretching paws, and many private campgrounds in the area have fenced dog areas. Message the host before booking to confirm any pet fees, and pack a long lead for riverside walks at Bernheim.
bernheim.org/visit/Can the RV be delivered to me in Shepherdsville?
Yes, RV delivery in Shepherdsville is a popular option on RVezy, especially for first-timers who'd rather skip driving a big rig down I-65. Many local hosts will deliver and set up the RV at your campsite, vacation rental, or driveway, then walk you through every system before they leave. Popular delivery spots include Louisville South KOA Holiday in Shepherdsville and family properties near the Salt River. Delivery fees usually scale with distance, so a drop at a local campground is more affordable than a delivery 50 miles away. Ask about a stationary setup near Bernheim for a stress-free first weekend.
koa.com/campgrounds/louisville-south/How far can I drive on my Shepherdsville RV rental?
You'll have plenty of range for a Shepherdsville RV trip. Most hosts include 100 to 150 free miles per night, and some offer unlimited mileage, ideal for longer adventures. From Shepherdsville you can reach Mammoth Cave National Park in about 85 miles (roughly 90 minutes south on I-65), Red River Gorge in around 140 miles, Nashville in about 150 miles, and the Great Smoky Mountains in roughly 320 miles. Each listing shows its mileage policy upfront so there are no surprises. If you're planning a full Bourbon Trail loop through Bardstown, Loretto, and Frankfort, filter for unlimited-mileage rigs to keep the budget predictable.
nps.gov/maca/index.htmWhere can I camp in an RV near Shepherdsville?
There are excellent options for RV camping near Shepherdsville. Top picks include Louisville South KOA Holiday in Shepherdsville (full hookups, pool, and easy I-65 access), Heritage Hill RV Park, and sites near the Paroquet Springs area. For a state-park feel, Taylorsville Lake State Park sits about 30 miles east with shaded sites and lakefront access. Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest offers nearby day-use exploration just minutes away. Book Bourbon Trail weekends and Derby week 3 to 6 months ahead, as those are the busiest windows for Bullitt County campgrounds.
parks.ky.gov/taylorsville/When is the best time to rent an RV in Shepherdsville?
April through October is prime season for RV rental in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, with the sweet spot being late April to early June and again mid-September through October. Spring brings mild 60 to 75 degree days and Bernheim's wildflower blooms, while fall delivers strong foliage and Bourbon Heritage Month festivities. Summer (July to August) gets humid with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, so look for rigs with strong AC. Winters are generally mild but damp, with January lows often around the mid-20s F. Book a shoulder-season Shepherdsville RV trip to dodge crowds at Jim Beam American Stillhouse and Bernheim's Canopy Tree Walk.
weather.gov/lmk/I've never rented an RV before, is Shepherdsville a good place to start?
Shepherdsville is a great spot for first time renting an RV. The terrain is gently rolling, campgrounds are close to I-65, and most local hosts are experienced at welcoming beginners. At pickup or delivery, your host gives you a full walkthrough of the generator, slide-outs, water systems, and dump procedure, so you're never left to figure it out alone. If you want to skip city driving entirely, choose delivery and you'll only need to drive between the campground and nearby attractions like Bernheim Forest. A Class C motorhome rental in Shepherdsville is often the most beginner-friendly option, since these drive much like a large van.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if something goes wrong on the road?
You're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance with the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on the Bluegrass Parkway or a dead battery at Bernheim's parking lot is just a phone call away from being solved. Roadside help can dispatch tows, jump-starts, fuel delivery, and lockout assistance across Kentucky. Your host is also a message away through the RVezy app for quick questions about the rig's systems, and RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after every trip. Save the roadside number in your phone before you leave the host's driveway in Shepherdsville and you'll be set.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Shepherdsville RV rental on an interstate or cross-border trip?
Yes, an RV road trip from Shepherdsville opens up much of the eastern U.S. Popular routes include I-65 south to Nashville and the Smokies, I-64 east to Red River Gorge and West Virginia's New River Gorge National Park, and a northern loop through Indianapolis or Cincinnati. Cross-border travel to Canada may be allowed depending on the host's insurance and approval, so message your host directly through the listing before planning the route. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. The roughly 5-hour drive from Shepherdsville to Great Smoky Mountains National Park is one of the most scenic regional trips you can plan.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much will fuel cost on my Shepherdsville RV trip?
Fuel is the biggest variable on any RV trip, so it helps to plan ahead. Kentucky gas prices typically run near or slightly below the national average. Class B campervans average roughly 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes get about 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A rigs land around 7 to 10 MPG. For a 300-mile loop visiting Mammoth Cave from Shepherdsville, budget roughly $90 to $130 in fuel for a typical Class C at current prices. Pilot and Love's travel centers along I-65 near Shepherdsville have RV-friendly pumps and fair prices, which is much easier than squeezing into a regular gas station.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Shepherdsville?
For most of the year, 4 to 8 weeks ahead is plenty for the best campgrounds near Shepherdsville. For Kentucky Derby week (first Saturday in May), Bourbon & Beyond festival in September, and the Kentucky State Fair in August, book 4 to 6 months out, those are the windows when sites disappear fastest. Kentucky State Parks like Taylorsville Lake use the Reserve America system, while Louisville South KOA books directly on its site. Private parks around Shepherdsville often take phone reservations. If you strike out for Derby weekend, try Otter Creek Outdoor Recreation Area near Brandenburg, about 45 minutes west, which often has openings when closer parks are full.
parks.ky.gov/What are driving conditions like around Shepherdsville?
Driving an RV around Shepherdsville is refreshingly low-stress. I-65 is the main artery and runs flat and straight through town, ideal for first-timers. Local roads through Bullitt County roll gently through farmland and forest, and the Bluegrass and Martha Layne Collins Bluegrass Parkways are well maintained and rarely crowded. Avoid driving an RV into downtown Louisville during weekday rush (7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.), and check clearances before using the Watterson Expressway with a tall rig. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk on rural routes like KY-245 toward Bardstown. Spring storms can pop up fast in April and May, so check the National Weather Service Louisville forecast each morning.
transportation.ky.gov/Pages/default.aspxWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Shepherdsville?
Most campgrounds around Shepherdsville offer full hookups (water, 30/50-amp electric, and sewer), WiFi, and modern bathhouses. Louisville South KOA includes a swimming pool, dog park, and camp store. Taylorsville Lake State Park has dump stations, potable water fill, and lakefront access about 30 miles east. For dumping mid-trip, several truck stops along I-65 near Shepherdsville offer dump stations and fresh water. Propane is easy to top up at the local Tractor Supply on Hwy 44. Ask your host for their preferred dump and water-fill spots, they know the quickest in-and-out locations in Bullitt County.
koa.com/campgrounds/louisville-south/What's included inside a typical Shepherdsville RV rental?
Most rigs on RVezy come fully equipped and road-ready. Expect real beds (often a queen plus convertible dinette or bunks), a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many hosts include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and camp chairs. WiFi varies: some hosts include a hotspot, others rely on campground WiFi. Generators are common on Class C and Class A rigs for off-grid power. Each RVezy listing spells out exactly what's included, plus any kitchen kits or linens offered. For a family RV trip in Shepherdsville, hosts often include outdoor games, just ask before you book.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Shepherdsville,KentuckyWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Hosts in Shepherdsville offer a range of add-ons to customize your trip. Common extras include linen and towel packages ($25 to $50), kitchen kits, bikes, kayaks for nearby Salt River floats, generator-hour packages, propane top-offs, and portable grills. Delivery and setup is widely available, with fees typically based on distance from the host's home base. Mileage policies range from around 100 free miles per night to unlimited, and pickup/dropoff times are often flexible if you message your host. If you're heading to Bernheim Forest, ask about a stocked picnic kit, several local hosts include coolers, chairs, and a folding table that make day trips effortless.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Shepherdsville,KentuckyHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit card at booking, with no cash changing hands at pickup. Your security deposit is held separately from the booking payment and is pre-authorized on your card before your trip, typically a few hundred to a few thousand dollars depending on the rig. As long as you return the RV in the same condition with the agreed fuel and tank levels, the hold is released after your trip. Take date-stamped photos and a quick walk-around video at pickup and dropoff alongside your host. Confirm dump-station and fuel expectations during your Shepherdsville orientation so dropoff is smooth.
