On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $90 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes run roughly $175 to $275 per night, and larger Class A motorhomes range from $250 to $400 per night. rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Clare%2C%20MichiganDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Clare, Michigan?
A regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Clare, Michigan. Michigan does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or special RV endorsement, even for Class A motorhomes. To rent on RVezy, you generally must be at least 25 years old with a valid driver's license, and your ID is verified through the platform during booking. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home-country license along with an International Driving Permit (IDP). Most first-time renters are surprised how simple it is to drive away on a Clare RV trip.

help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I need to cancel my Clare RV rental?
Booking is low-risk: RVezy (not the host) sets a clear cancellation policy that applies to every reservation, including a grace period right after booking so you can lock in dates with confidence. Exact refund terms depend on how far ahead of your trip you cancel. Because the policy is handled at the platform level, you won't see different cancellation terms on different listings. Book early to grab the best Clare-area RVs for summer weekends, knowing the platform-wide policy gives you a predictable framework if your plans change.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Clare?
Yes, Clare is a great dog destination, and a pet-friendly RV rental in Clare is easy to find on RVezy: just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on the search page. Many local hosts welcome well-behaved pups, and some include perks like pet beds or extra towels. Once you arrive, leashed dogs are welcome at Michigan state parks (with a Recreation Passport), including nearby Wilson State Park on Budd Lake, and Pettit Park Campground in downtown Clare allows dogs too. Pack a tie-out and bring proof of rabies vaccination, since some campgrounds ask to see it at check-in.
michigan.gov/dnr/things-to-do/camping-and-lodgingCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Clare?
Yes, RV delivery in Clare is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, and many RVezy hosts offer it. Filter for Delivery on the search page and your host will tow the RV to your campground, lake cabin, or family driveway, then set it up, level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system. This is a game-changer if it's your first time renting an RV or if you'd rather skip towing a trailer up US-127. Popular delivery destinations include Wilson State Park in Harrison, Herrick Recreation Area, and the Soaring Eagle Hideaway RV Park near Mount Pleasant. Just message the host with your destination and dates to get a delivery quote.
michigan.gov/dnr/places/state-parks/wilsonHow far can I travel from Clare on an RV road trip?
Clare's central Michigan location makes it a perfect launchpad for an RV road trip from Clare in just about any direction. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is roughly 130 miles northwest (about 2.5 hours), Mackinaw City and the Mackinac Bridge sit about 160 miles north up I-75, Traverse City is around 110 miles northwest, and Lake Huron's Tawas Point State Park is around 80 miles east. Most RVezy hosts include a generous daily mileage allowance, and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, so ask before booking if you're planning a big loop. The US-127 to I-75 corridor heading north is mostly flat, well-maintained, and very RV-friendly.
michigan.org/article/trip-idea/sunrise-coast-road-tripWhere are the best campgrounds near Clare, MI?

Book Michigan state parks at MiDNRReservations.com up to six months ahead.
midnrreservations.com/When is the best time to rent an RV in Clare, Michigan?
The sweet spot for a Clare RV trip is mid-May through early October, when daytime highs run from the mid-60s F in May to the upper 70s and low 80s in July and August, then cool back into the 60s and 70s by September. July is typically the warmest month, making it ideal for swimming at Budd Lake or paddling the Tobacco and Cedar rivers. Fall (late September to mid-October) is a local secret, the Pere Marquette State Forest lights up with color and campgrounds quiet down. Winter rentals are possible for snowmobilers heading to Clare County's groomed trails, just confirm the RV has heated tanks and shore-power capability with your host.
weather.gov/dtx/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving around Clare?
You'll do great. Clare is one of the friendliest places in Michigan for first time renting an RV. Roads around town are flat, well-marked, and uncrowded compared to bigger metro areas. US-127, M-115, and US-10 are the main routes and they're built for big rigs, with wide lanes and easy pull-offs. Your RVezy host will walk you through every system at pickup, from leveling jacks to the propane shutoff, and you can message them anytime during the trip. If you're still nervous, book a travel trailer with delivery so the host sets it up at your campground and you only drive your own vehicle.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002342453-RentersWhat happens if my RV breaks down during my Clare trip?
Every RVezy rental in Clare includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of your protection plan, so help is one phone call away whether you're parked at Wilson State Park or driving back from Higgins Lake. Roadside assistance can handle issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing. Your host is also a message away for quick troubleshooting, and many know their RV inside and out. Save the RVezy support number and your host's contact info to your phone before leaving Clare, and snap a photo of the RV's VIN plate inside the door for faster service.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take a Clare RV rental across the border into Canada?
Cross-border travel from Clare to Ontario is sometimes possible on RVezy, but it depends on the specific host's listing rules and insurance coverage, so message the host before booking to confirm. The Blue Water Bridge at Port Huron is about 150 miles southeast of Clare and is the closest crossing. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. Within the US, popular interstate trips from Clare include driving south to Indiana Dunes National Park or northwest to Wisconsin's Door Peninsula. Bring your passport or enhanced driver's license, plus the host's written approval, for a smooth border crossing.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for?
Budgeting fuel for your Clare RV trip is straightforward. Class C motorhomes average about 8 to 10 miles per gallon, Class A motorhomes get roughly 6 to 8 mpg, campervans (Class B) can reach 14 to 18 mpg, and a tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer typically drops to 10 to 12 mpg. Michigan gas prices generally hover near the national average, and you'll find convenient fuel stops in Clare near the US-127 and Business 27 interchange. Most Class A and Class C motorhomes run on regular unleaded (not diesel) and have 50 to 80 gallon tanks, so a fill-up before heading to Sleeping Bear Dunes or Mackinaw City keeps you stress-free.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book campgrounds near Clare?
For the best campgrounds near Clare, book as early as you can. Michigan state parks open reservations six months in advance through MiDNRReservations.com, and inventory drops quickly on release. Summer weekends at Wilson State Park, North Higgins Lake State Park, and South Higgins Lake State Park (a popular drive north) often book within minutes of opening. Private campgrounds like Soaring Eagle Hideaway and Hidden Hill Family Campground typically have more flexibility. If you missed the six-month window, check the DNR site daily because cancellations open up regularly. Pettit Park in Clare is first-come, first-served, so it's a great backup option.
midnrreservations.com/What are the local driving conditions like in and around Clare?
Driving around Clare is genuinely easy. Terrain is flat to gently rolling, traffic is light outside of summer holiday weekends, and the main RV routes (US-127, US-10, and M-115) are wide, well-paved, and have plenty of rest areas. Summer brings occasional thunderstorms with strong gusts, so pull off to a rest area or campground if visibility drops. Winter is a different story: lake-effect snow can hit between November and March, and side roads may not be plowed quickly, so plan trips for May through October if you're new to RVing. Watch for deer at dawn and dusk on rural roads in Clare County year-round.
mdotjboss.state.mi.us/MiDrive/mapWhat amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Clare?
Campgrounds near Clare offer a great range of amenities. Modern Michigan state parks like Wilson State Park provide electric hookups (mostly 20/30 amp, with some 50 amp), flush toilets, hot showers, a dump station, potable water fill, and a swim beach on Budd Lake. Private parks like Soaring Eagle Hideaway and Hidden Hill Family Campground often add full hookups (water, sewer, electric), Wi-Fi, laundry, and pools. State forest campgrounds are more rustic, with vault toilets and hand-pump water. Wilson State Park, Pettit Park, and Herrick Recreation Area all have dump stations. Bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose and a 30-amp to 50-amp adapter to fit any site.
michigan.gov/dnr/things-to-do/camping-and-lodging/state-parksWhat features come standard in Clare RV rentals?
Most RV rentals in Clare come fully equipped for a comfortable trip. Expect a real bed (often a queen), a kitchen with stove, microwave, refrigerator, and sink, a bathroom with toilet and shower, plus seatbelts for travel passengers. Larger Class A and Class C motorhomes typically include a TV, awning, air conditioning, furnace, and often a generator for off-grid stays. Many travel trailers and motorhomes near Clare include bunk beds, perfect for a family RV trip Clare adventure. Wi-Fi is hit-or-miss in remote Northern Michigan, but cell service is generally solid on US-127 and US-10. Check the listing's amenity list and message the host with specific must-haves like a bike rack or kayak roof rack.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Clare%2C%20MichiganWhat add-ons and options do Clare hosts typically offer?
Clare RVezy hosts offer plenty of helpful add-ons to customize your trip. Common options include delivery and setup (often a per-mile rate from the host's location), generator rental, kitchen kits with pots and dishes, linens and towels, bike racks, kayaks, outdoor grills, and even firewood bundles. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Clare with a 30 to 60-minute walkthrough, and dropoff is typically same-time and same-place. Mileage allowances vary by listing, with many hosts offering 100 to 150 free miles per day and overage charges typically in the $0.30 to $0.50 range, and some hosts offer unlimited mileage packages. Bundle delivery plus a kitchen kit for the easiest possible first trip.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Clare%2C%20MichiganHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment for your motorhome rental Clare is handled securely through RVezy, with no cash exchanges with hosts. You'll pay the total trip cost through the platform with a supported card when you book, including the nightly rate, RVezy service fee, and your chosen protection plan. A refundable security deposit is held separately before pickup and released after the host confirms the RV is returned in good condition. To avoid issues: do a thorough walkthrough video at pickup and dropoff, follow the host's mileage and generator policies, and return the RV with the same fuel and propane level. Keep all receipts from your trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksIs winter RV camping possible around Clare?
Yes, winter RV camping near Clare can be a great adventure with the right planning. Clare County is a snowmobiling hub with hundreds of miles of groomed trails, and average winter highs sit in the mid-20s F with lows in the teens, so cold-weather prep matters. When you rent an RV in Michigan during winter, filter for RVs with heated holding tanks, an enclosed underbelly, a furnace, and shore-power hookups, and confirm with the host before booking. Most Michigan state park campgrounds close by late October, but a handful (and several private parks like Soaring Eagle Hideaway) stay open year-round with electric hookups. Keep faucets dripping overnight, use a heated water hose, and stock up on extra propane in town before heading out.
