Five stars is not enough! This was a trial run for my husband, his first camping experience. He is hooked! We were with a large group of friends and many of them had rented RVs. Everyone was jealous! This thing came loaded with everything we needed… David was so accommodating and responded to all communications promptly. Thanks David!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Holland, MI
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Holland, MI?
An RV rental in Holland, MI is one of the more affordable ways to enjoy Lake Michigan's west coast. On RVezy, towable travel trailers in the Holland area typically average around $150 per night, while drivable motorhomes average about $225 per night, and many hosts offer 10 to 20 percent weekly or monthly discounts. For a cheap RV rental Holland travelers love, look at travel trailers and pop-ups Sunday through Thursday, or shoulder-season dates in April or late September. Pro tip: avoid Tulip Time week in early May and the Fourth of July if you want the lowest prices, since downtown Holland fills up fast.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Holland%2C%20MichiganDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Holland, Michigan?
Good news for first-time renters: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Holland, Michigan. The state of Michigan does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement for the vast majority of motorhomes, campervans, and travel trailers on RVezy, since virtually every listing is under 26,000 pounds. You'll just need to be 25 or older with a valid license, and RVezy will verify your ID through the platform during booking. Visiting from outside the US? An International Driving Permit (IDP) paired with your home license works perfectly for your Holland Michigan RV trip.
michigan.gov/sos/license-id/license-and-idWhat kind of protection comes with my Holland RV rental?
Every RV rental in Holland, MI booked through RVezy automatically includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit the road around Lake Macatawa with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers physical damage to the RV, and during checkout you choose the coverage level that fits your trip rather than the host setting it. Coverage details, deductibles, and tier options are laid out clearly on the RVezy site so you know exactly what's included. Pro tip: pick your protection tier early so you can focus on the fun stuff, like which Lake Michigan sunset beach to park at first.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat if I need to cancel my Holland, MI RV booking?
Plans change, and booking your Holland RV rental on RVezy is genuinely low risk. RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy, which includes a money-back grace period right after booking plus protections for major disruptions. That means you can lock in a campsite at Holland State Park months out, then adjust if life happens. Specific refund amounts depend on how far in advance you cancel, and full details are available on the RVezy Help Center. Pro tip: book early so you have the widest cancellation window, plus the best pick of pet-friendly and delivery-ready RVs.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Holland?
Absolutely. Plenty of hosts offer pet-friendly RV rental Holland options, and you can filter listings by Pet-Friendly to see them instantly. Holland is a dog lover's town: the 20-mile paved Lakeshore Trail welcomes leashed pups, and many private campgrounds along Ottawa Beach Road allow leashed dogs at RV sites. Just remember dogs aren't permitted on the main Lake Michigan swimming beach inside Holland State Park. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees, and bring an extra towel because the Lake Michigan dunes leave sandy paws every time.
www2.michigan.gov/dnr/managing-resources/parks/hollandCan the RV be delivered and set up for me in Holland?
Yes, and it's the easiest way to start your trip. RV delivery Holland MI is offered by many local hosts who will tow or drive the rig directly to Holland State Park, a private campground, or even a private driveway, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system. This is perfect for first-time renters who'd rather skip the highway driving and just enjoy the beach. Delivery fees vary by distance, and many hosts include setup within a 10 to 20 mile radius of downtown Holland. Pro tip: ask about pickup too, so you don't lift a finger at trip's end.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Holland%2C%20MichiganHow far can I travel on an RV road trip from Holland?
Holland is one of the best launchpads in Michigan for a flexible RV road trip. Saugatuck Dunes State Park is about 15 miles south, Grand Haven is roughly 25 miles north, Grand Rapids sits about 35 miles east, and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is around 175 miles up the coast, a stunning drive of roughly three to four hours. Want more? Mackinaw City is about 290 miles north, and Chicago is about 150 miles southwest along the lakeshore. Each RVezy host sets their own mileage policy, and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is a big win for longer Lake Michigan circle trips. Pro tip: filter by Unlimited Mileage if you're planning to chase shoreline.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Holland%2C%20MichiganWhere are the best campgrounds near Holland, MI?
You're spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping near Holland: Holland State Park (with both the Lake Macatawa and Beach loops near the iconic Big Red lighthouse), Oak Grove Resort Campground on Ottawa Beach Road (full-hookup family resort within walking distance of Lake Michigan), Sandy Pines RV Resort in nearby Hopkins, Grand Haven State Park about 25 miles north with beachfront sites, and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park in South Haven for families. These are the best campgrounds near Holland for first-timers. Pro tip: Holland State Park is one of Michigan's most popular parks, so book the moment your six-month reservation window opens on midnrreservations.com.
midnrreservations.com/When is the best time to rent an RV in Holland, MI?
Holland shines from late April through late October, and each season offers something different. Peak summer (June through August) brings warm days, often in the 75 to 85 degree Fahrenheit range, perfect for Lake Michigan swimming. Tulip Time, held annually in early May, paints the city with millions of blooms, an absolute bucket-list moment. September delivers warm water, smaller crowds, and some of the lowest seasonal rates. Holland State Park's modern campground season generally runs spring through fall, while the day-use park stays open year-round. Pro tip: book the week before or after Tulip Time for blooms minus the crowds, and you'll still get reasonable RV rental Michigan pricing.
tuliptime.com/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving around Holland?
You're going to do great. Holland is one of the easiest places in Michigan for first time renting an RV: roads are flat, US-31 and I-196 are well-marked, and most campgrounds sit within 15 minutes of downtown. Every RVezy host gives a walkthrough at pickup, showing you how to use the generator, slide-outs, water systems, and dump valves, so you're never left guessing. Class C motorhomes and travel trailers are the most beginner-friendly choices. Pro tip: choose delivery and setup for your first trip, and message your host any question before booking so you can roll into Holland State Park feeling confident.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if I break down during my Holland RV trip?
You're covered, day or night. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so if you get a flat on US-31, a dead battery at Tunnel Park, or a mechanical issue heading toward Saugatuck, one phone call brings help. The roadside team handles tows, jump-starts, tire changes, lockouts, and fuel delivery. Your host is also reachable by message in the RVezy app for any RV-specific questions, like resetting the inverter. Pro tip: save the RVezy support number in your phone before you pull out of the driveway so help is one tap away.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionCan I take my Holland RV rental across the border into Canada?
Possibly yes for Canada, but never for Mexico. Many RVezy hosts in Michigan allow cross-border travel into Ontario (Port Huron is about 200 miles from Holland via I-94 and I-69), but it depends on the individual host's policy, so always confirm by message before booking. With your passport or enhanced Michigan license, the Blue Water Bridge at Port Huron and the Ambassador Bridge at Detroit are popular crossings. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental. Pro tip: a Tobermory and Bruce Peninsula loop from Holland makes a stunning international road trip with the right host approval.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much will fuel cost for an RV trip from Holland?
Budgeting for fuel is easy once you know the numbers. Michigan gas prices typically run close to the national average, and most Class C motorhomes get around 8 to 12 miles per gallon while campervans and small travel trailers stretch to 14 to 18 mpg. A 250-mile loop from Holland to Sleeping Bear Dunes and back in a Class C will use roughly 25 to 30 gallons of gas. Pro tip: fill up in Holland or Zeeland before heading north since fuel is often cheaper than at touristy stops along M-22, and consider a campervan rental Holland for the best fuel economy on a long Lake Michigan road trip.
gasprices.aaa.com/state-gas-price-averages/How far in advance should I book a campground near Holland?
Sooner than you think, especially for summer. Michigan State Parks open campsite reservations exactly six months in advance through the official Michigan DNR reservation system at midnrreservations.com, and Holland State Park's prime beachfront sites disappear within minutes of release for July and August weekends. Private parks like Oak Grove Resort and Sandy Pines also fill weeks ahead during Tulip Time and Fourth of July. For Tulip Time, book several months in advance. Pro tip: set a calendar alert for exactly 8:00 AM Eastern on the date six months before your arrival to grab the best beach loop sites at Holland State Park.
midnrreservations.com/What are driving conditions like around Holland?
Driving around Holland is refreshingly stress-free for an RV. The terrain is flat, US-31 is a divided multi-lane highway, and city streets are wide with low traffic outside of festival weeks. Watch for sand drifts on Ottawa Beach Road near the dunes, sudden lake-effect rain and fog rolling in off Lake Michigan, and Tulip Time street closures downtown in early May. In winter, lake-effect snow can accumulate quickly, so if you're renting in December through March, plan extra time. Pro tip: avoid driving large Class A motorhomes through downtown Holland's narrow 8th Street during festival weeks, and ask your host about delivery straight to the campground.
mdotjboss.state.mi.us/MiDrive/mapWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds around Holland?
Holland-area campgrounds are well-equipped for a comfortable family RV trip Holland. Holland State Park offers electric service at every site, modern bathhouses, sanitation dump stations, and potable water fill-ups on-site. Oak Grove Resort goes further with full hookups, cable, heated pool, and hot tub. Most private parks have laundry, camp stores, and Wi-Fi. Pro tip: visitors need a Michigan Recreation Passport to enter any state park (currently $14 for a resident annual pass and a higher day rate for non-residents), so grab one online before arrival to skip the entrance-station line.
www2.michigan.gov/dnr/buy-and-apply/recreation-passportWhat's actually included inside the RVs available in Holland?
More than you'd expect. Most Holland-area RVezy listings come fully equipped with a queen or king bed, bunk options for kids, a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, an indoor bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control with AC and furnace, a flat-screen TV, and often a generator for off-grid power. Campervans and Class B rentals are perfect for couples; Class C motorhomes and travel trailers sleep four to eight comfortably. Many include outdoor speakers, awnings, and lawn chairs. Pro tip: check each listing for a Wi-Fi hotspot, solar, or built-in inverter if you plan to boondock; cell coverage along the Lake Michigan shoreline is generally strong on major carriers.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Holland%2C%20MichiganWhat add-ons and options should I ask about for my Holland rental?
Popular add-ons from Holland hosts include bike racks (the paved Lakeshore Trail from Holland State Park toward Grand Haven is unbeatable on two wheels), kayak or paddleboard packages for Lake Macatawa, beach chairs and umbrellas, generators for boondocking, propane refills, and kitchen or linen kits. Add-on pricing varies by host but commonly falls in the $25 to $75 range. Pickup and dropoff happen at the host's location or via delivery, and mileage is set by the host, with many including 100 to 150 free miles per day and extras at roughly $0.30 to $0.50 per mile. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, linens, and a generator into one package and you've got a turnkey motorhome rental Holland experience.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Holland%2C%20MichiganHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure on RVezy. You pay the booking total through the platform with a credit or debit card, and your money is held safely until your trip starts. The security deposit is separate from your booking payment; it's pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after return assuming no damage or extra cleaning is needed. To avoid issues, do a walkthrough video at pickup and dropoff with your host. Pro tip: refill the propane and fuel, empty the tanks at a dump station, and leave the rig tidy so your full deposit lands back in your account quickly.
