⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 – Perfect July 4th Getaway! We had an amazing experience renting this 28’ camper over the July 4th weekend! From start to finish, everything went smoothly. The camper was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described — spacious enough for us, with all the essentials for a relaxing getaway. The A/C worked great (a must in the summer heat!), and the kitchen setup made it easy to cook meals at the campsite. The beds were surprisingly comfy, and we loved having a full bathroom on board. Setup and teardown were a breeze, and the owners were super helpful and responsive. Spending the holiday weekend outdoors, grilling, and watching fireworks from the campground was such a memorable experience. We couldn’t have asked for a better setup. Highly recommend this rental for anyone looking to enjoy some time away without sacrificing comfort! Would absolutely rent again!

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Rose City, MI

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Rose City, MI?

RV rental in Rose City is one of the most affordable ways to experience northern Michigan. Travel trailers typically start around $75 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes generally run $175 to $295 per night, and Class A motorhomes and fifth wheels can range higher depending on size and amenities. Pricing depends on the RV's age, size, and season, and many hosts offer weekly discounts for stays of five nights or longer. To find a cheap RV rental in Rose City, aim for shoulder dates in late May or September when demand drops but the weather is still great. Pro tip: filter for travel trailers with delivery so you skip the cost of a tow vehicle entirely and have the camper waiting at Rifle River Recreation Area when you arrive.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Rose City?

Good news, a standard Michigan or out-of-state driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Rose City. No special endorsement or Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required for any Class A, Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, travel trailer, or fifth wheel on RVezy. Approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and ID verification happens quickly through the RVezy platform during booking. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP), which you can pick up from your local auto club. That's it, you're cleared to cruise the back roads of Ogemaw County.

What if my plans change after I book a Rose City RV?

Booking an RV in Rose City is low-risk because RVezy sets the cancellation policy across the entire platform, not the individual host. That means consistent, predictable terms whether you're renting from a host in Rose City, West Branch, or Lupton. There's a grace-period window after booking where you can cancel for a full refund, and other refund tiers apply depending on how far out from your trip start date you cancel. RVezy also has provisions for extraordinary circumstances. You can review the full policy in the RVezy Help Center before confirming your booking, then start planning your route up M-33 with confidence.

Can I bring my dog on a Rose City RV trip?

Absolutely, a pet-friendly RV rental in Rose City, MI is easy to find. Just use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see hosts who welcome dogs (and sometimes cats) right in the listing. Rose City is a dog-lover's dream once you arrive: Rifle River Recreation Area allows leashed pets on most trails and at the Devoe Lake and Grousehaven campgrounds, and the Huron National Forest has miles of leash-friendly two-tracks perfect for sniffing adventures. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee and ask about a fenced delivery spot if you want your pup to roam off-leash at a private campsite. Bring a tie-out and plenty of fresh water for warm summer days.

Can the RV be delivered to my campsite in Rose City?

Yes, RV delivery in Rose City is one of the smartest ways to start your trip, especially if it's your first time renting an RV. Many RVezy hosts will tow a travel trailer or fifth wheel right to Rifle River Recreation Area or a private property in Lupton, then level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before they leave. Delivery fees vary by host and distance, and some hosts include a set number of miles for free within Ogemaw County. Use the Delivery filter when searching, message the host with your destination address, and you'll arrive to a fully set-up camper ready for s'mores.

How far can I drive on an RV road trip from Rose City?

Plenty far, and Rose City sits in a sweet spot for a Michigan RV road trip. Hosts set their own mileage policies, with many offering 100 to 150 free miles per day and unlimited mileage available on select listings. Popular drives include Tawas Point State Park on Lake Huron (about 45 miles east), Hartwick Pines State Park in Grayling (around 55 miles northwest), Mackinaw City (about 150 miles north up I-75), Traverse City wine country (roughly 130 miles northwest), and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (about 165 miles). Filter for RV rental with unlimited mileage if you're chasing the full Lake Huron Circle Tour, and plan your fuel stops since stations thin out north of M-72.

Where are the best campgrounds near Rose City, MI?

You're spoiled for choice. The best campgrounds near Rose City include Rifle River Recreation Area (just a few miles east, with modern electric sites at Grousehaven Lake and Ranch loops plus rustic sites at Devoe Lake), Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Houghton Lake (full hookups and a water park, about 30 miles west), and several rustic state forest campgrounds inside the Huron-Manistee National Forests for self-contained rigs. Book Rifle River Recreation Area early through the Michigan DNR reservation system, since summer weekends fill up fast.

When is the best time to visit Rose City in an RV?

Late May through mid-October is prime time for RV camping in Rose City. The sweet spots are mid-June through August (highs typically in the upper 70s to low 80s F with warm river water for tubing) and late September through early October when fall colors light up the Huron-Manistee National Forests. July is the busiest, so book early. Shoulder seasons in May and October bring cooler nights, fewer crowds, and lower nightly rates. Winter trips are doable if your rental has a furnace and the host approves cold-weather use, since the area is a snowmobile and ice-fishing hub from late December through March. Pro tip: time your trip around the Rose City ORV events in summer for unforgettable energy.

I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay in Rose City?

You'll do great, and Rose City is one of the friendliest places in Michigan for first time renting an RV. The roads around town are wide, traffic is light, and nearby destinations like Rifle River Recreation Area and the Huron-Manistee National Forests are connected by gentle two-lane highways with plenty of pull-offs. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering the propane, generator, slide-outs, water systems, and dump procedure. If you'd rather not drive at all, choose a travel trailer with delivery and the host handles everything. Pro tip: practice a few turns and backing maneuvers in a quiet lot off M-33 before heading to your campsite, and you'll feel like a pro by night two.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirements

What happens if I have a breakdown during my Rose City RV trip?

You're covered. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on a forest two-track or a dead battery at Devoe Lake is just a phone call away. The roadside team can dispatch a tow, jump-start, tire change, or fuel delivery across Ogemaw County and the surrounding region. Your host is also typically just a text away and knows the RV inside and out. Cell service can be spotty deep in the national forest, so save the roadside number in your phone before you leave Rose City and screenshot directions to your campground. Pro tip: top up your gas tank in West Branch before heading into the backcountry.

Can I take my Rose City RV rental across state lines or into Canada?

Yes for most U.S. destinations, with one quick conversation. Most RVezy hosts in Rose City are happy to let you take their RV on a multi-state road trip, whether you're aiming for Wisconsin's Door County, Ohio's Hocking Hills, or further south. Just message the host before booking to confirm your route. Heading to Canada? That's possible with some hosts, but it requires advance approval, so ask first. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there. Popular routes include the Lake Huron Circle Tour and a UP loop across the Mackinac Bridge to Pictured Rocks, both unforgettable from Rose City.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validity

What should I budget for fuel on a Rose City RV trip?

Budgeting fuel for your Rose City RV trip is straightforward. Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class A motorhomes get 6 to 10, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle but typically knock 3 to 5 MPG off its normal mileage. Campervans (Class B) are the most efficient at 15 to 20 MPG. Plan for roughly $40 to $80 per day in fuel for typical Michigan loops, depending on current gas prices. Pro tip: fill up in West Branch right off I-75 before heading north on M-33, since prices climb in smaller towns like Mio and Luzerne.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Rose City?

For the most popular campgrounds, book six months out the day reservations open. Michigan State Parks like Rifle River Recreation Area open bookings on a rolling six-month window through the Michigan DNR reservation system, and summer weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day, plus the Fourth of July, sell out quickly. National forest sites in the Huron-Manistee National Forests go through Recreation.gov on a similar window. Private parks like Jellystone in Houghton Lake also fill summer weekends fast, so aim for two to three months out minimum. Pro tip: weekday arrivals (Sunday through Wednesday) are far easier to snag, and many hosts offer better RV rental rates for midweek trips too.

What are the local driving conditions like around Rose City?

Driving an RV around Rose City is refreshingly easy. M-33 runs right through town as the main north-south route, a smooth two-lane highway with gentle curves and wide shoulders, no mountain passes or steep grades. I-75 is roughly 20 to 25 minutes west via M-55 for fast travel. Watch for two local realities: deer are common at dawn and dusk (slow down on M-33 and F-28), and some forest service roads in the Huron-Manistee National Forests turn to soft sand that can bog down larger motorhomes, so stick to numbered county roads with your rental. Winter brings snow squalls, so if you're traveling November through March, check Mi Drive before rolling. Pro tip: avoid M-33 right at sunset in October when deer activity peaks.

What amenities do campgrounds near Rose City offer?

You'll find a full spectrum. Modern campgrounds like Rifle River Recreation Area's Grousehaven and Ranch loops and Jellystone in Houghton Lake offer 30 and 50 amp electric, water hookups, dump stations, hot showers, and flush toilets, with some sites offering full sewer hookups. Rustic state forest campgrounds inside the Huron-Manistee National Forests offer vault toilets, hand-pump water, and fire rings only, no hookups, perfect for self-contained rigs. Most modern parks have a centralized dump station, and you can dump and refill freshwater at the Rifle River Recreation Area entrance area. Pro tip: bring a 25-foot drinking-water hose and a 30-to-50 amp adapter to cover any hookup combo you'll encounter.
michigan.gov/dnr/places/state-parks/rifle-river

What's actually inside a typical Rose City RV rental?

More than you'd expect. A typical motorhome rental in Rose City comes fully equipped with sleeping for 4 to 8 (queen beds, convertible dinettes, bunk beds), a kitchen with fridge/freezer, propane stove, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with toilet and shower, roof air conditioning, a propane furnace, and seatbelted seats for travel. Many include awnings, USB outlets, outdoor speakers, and a TV. Wifi and cell signal are hit-or-miss deep in the Huron-Manistee National Forests, so don't count on streaming, but most rentals have a generator or solar option for off-grid power. Travel trailers and fifth wheels offer similar features minus the drive cab. Check the listing's amenity checklist and message the host if you need specifics like a coffee maker or grill for your RV camping Rose City weekend.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Rose%20City%2C%20Michigan

What add-ons and pickup options should I know about?

Plenty of helpful extras make your Rose City RV trip smoother. Popular add-ons include bedding and linen packages, kitchen kits, generators, bike racks, outdoor grills, kayaks, fire pits, and propane refills. Many hosts in Ogemaw County also offer trailer hitches and ORV-friendly setups, perfect since the Huron-Manistee National Forests have miles of legal ORV trails near Rose City. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Rose City, West Branch, or Lupton, with most rentals returned to the same spot. Mileage policies typically include 100 to 150 free miles per day, with extra miles charged per mile as set by each host. Filter for Instant Book if you want to confirm in seconds without waiting for host approval.
michigan.gov/dnr/managing-resources/orv

How does payment and the security deposit work?

Payment is simple and secure. When you book a motorhome rental in Rose City through RVezy, your booking total is charged through the platform, never directly to the host. A separate refundable security deposit is placed as a temporary hold on your card before pickup, then released after the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. To keep things smooth, take timestamped photos of the RV's interior and exterior at pickup and dropoff, return it with the fuel and propane levels noted on the rental agreement, and follow the host's dumping instructions. That's all it takes to get your deposit back fast and start planning your next Rose City RV adventure.
